I read the first two books, uncle Alan certainly has something for emotionally vulnerable women, LEG and Moore thread i guess

People are emotionally vulnerable, unless they've gone full psycho. Even Hyde had emotional vulnerabilities in this story, let alone the wrecks that are Nemo and Quartermain.
You should keep going. It continues to be extraordinary, despite the prevailing notion here. The Nemo books are a highlight.
>despite the prevailing notion here
Really? I don't think I've ever seen people say they're bad, except maybe Black Dossier and whichever one was Harry Potter, Century?
I love LoEG, especially the Nemo books and the bonkers worldbuilding that goes into the supplementary material (theory video for discussion purposes:)
But I never got the deal with Mina. She's obviously scarred from her experience in Dracula but it seems there's almost nothing of Stoker's character in there. There's some references to Jonathan but none to Lucy or anyone else, the bites on her neck seem more savage than the classic puncture wounds but she lacks the crescent-shaped scar on her forehead Mina gets towards the end of the books and Moore seems to imply it was just rape (classic Moore) by some foreigner and not a supernatural vampire bite. Honestly I'd say she's the biggest departure from her character in the novel, and I don't really know why cause she seems kinda flat especially getting into the later stuff.
sometimes i think its just a lie she tells cuz the whole dracula experience is too emotionally taxing for her to explain
Nice vid, funny that is literally what From Hell is about
A fictional person escaping fiction?
Narratives transforming reality is essentially what the "villain" in From Hell believes, its clear that Alan believes everyone can do it, either for good or harm of humanity
I'm reading and re-reading a bunch of prose before I start the whole thing over again, though I'm not going to read even half of everything referenced.
So far I have lined up
>Dracula
>20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
>The Mysterious Island
>The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
>The Invisible Man
>The Time Machine
>The War of the Worlds
>King Solomon's Mines
>She
>The Murders in the Rue Morgue
>The Mystery of Marie Roget
>The Purloined Letter
>A Study in Scarlet and the rest of Sherlock Holmes
>Orlando
>The Pilgrim's Progress
>The Tempest
Damn good idea buddy I commend you
I know there's a lot more I'm missing that I do want to read, but I kind of want to keep the list short for now. If there are any other books that are must-reads, let me know.
I just re-read it.
1984, 1984, 1984
For when you do restart it, I hope you're aware of https://enjolrasworld.com/annotations/
Nice.
I like the movie more than the comics. I always thought Alan was a pretty mid writer.
The comic is good. The movie is shit.
Hard disagree
REPORT IN, MOVIE ENJOYERS!
The sets and props are cool as frick, but the movie is still bad.
Anon nobody here is denying it's bad.
We're just saying it's fun and it's fine to enjoy bad things if we're having fun.
That's literally it. Hell Connery thought it was to be his worst role yet not knowing about Sir Billie in the future.
Mina needs to get her fat vampire milkers pumped. I love the idea of a frumpy Victorian lady becoming a loose vampire and living to the present. She's taken so many dicks and eaten so much ass by now. She's perfect.
Going from the movie to the comics was like a cold wet slap in the face. Gotta say I wasn't a fan of all the weird sex stuff. Kinda just prefer something more like the movie where there's cool steampunky action.
Moore isnt a coward and he will convey the characters sexuality, even if its a little upseting
That's fine, artistically I can accept that. But I'll still be uncomfortable, and prefer just wanting cool airships and be shameless in that.
It's a fun popcorn movie, sue me.
I like the movie fine, but it's not better than the comic by any means.
V for Vendetta's a solid action movie, but the comic blows it out of the water.
>It's a fun popcorn movie
It's kinda boring. Fun popcorn movies are the ones made by Michael Mann, John McTiernan, Tony Scott, Stephen Sommers, and Martin Campbell back in the 80s, 90s, and 00s.
Imagine having taste this mid.
Ok.
Really?
I thought Tempest and the first part of Century were better than Black Dossier.
