Don't want to reveal too much or my position but the script for season 2 is done. Lilith is the main antagonist with Michael the Archangel as a secondary villain. Adam will be returning both in flashback and in the plot.
Adam is essentially a parody of male privilege and he'll be revealed to have reincarnated back into heaven in a comical scene explaining how "the rules" don't apply to him aka privilege. Other than that, he plays no role in the larger story besides flashbacks with eve. Oh and Alastor jobs again. There's a joke that he pretty much the seething wojak meme with the smug mask

Adam returns but he's reborn in hell as a demon, his arc will be about him realizing he has to go to Charlie and check in to the hotel to redeem himself. Pentious will personally convince him that demons can be redeemed by forgiving Adam for killing him.
