Was good movie
Daughters were a bit annoying at times with their liberalism but other than that I give this film 10/10. Great watch for apocalypse fanatic!

      >10/10. Great watch f

i wouldn't give it a 10/10 though, more like a 7/10 or even an 8/10, the suspense was really good but it wasn't anything remarkable and yes i quite enjoyed it

      >a 7/10 or even an 8/10

      I enjoyed this pointless adventure.
The ending felt very climactic despite being the opposite, I don't know, I kind of ruined this by overthinking it. I went in with a preconceived bias having seen the trailer and Mr Robot I was expecting it to branch into a psychological thriller/scifi with split realities or something out of leftfield but then it really did turn out to be what they said it was going to be all throughout the movie with no twist.
The black guy wasn't actually nefarious at all, his daughter really was just a c**t and the implied romance between the Husband+daughter and the Wife+father seemed totally unearned and bizarre, probably an Esmail fetish of some kind.

      tl;dr good direction, average story

I'm sure you're gonna tell me there's some contextual reason why the shot looks like that, that in the context of the scene or the story it's justified by blablabla. I don't give a shit. The whole point of the film was that people didn't trust or like each other.
The attack only worked because people starting infighting - it was letting people destroy themselves.
This is mirrored in the way the wife and the black daughter disliked each other, with both of them critical of each other's race. Wife even has that moment near the end where she talks openly about hating other people and how she don't like being that way.
The black daughter comments that Friends is a show where you're nostalgic for a time that never really existed. The white daughter claims that the show makes her happy and that she cares about the characters. She complains that nobody listens to her and her brother just goes "yeah".
Friends is used an ideal world, a kinder world where people hang out together and chat, none of the hostility and hatred you see in the real world. She longed for that idealized world especially once shit hits the fan. In the real world we have struggle, which the daughter could escape by watching Friends.

It's weird how everyone who hates capitalism is always pointing out that basically everything is owned by the same 5 mega corporations. However the minute anyone suggests the tiny number of people running those 5 corporations might talk to each other and decide on how to run things you get called a tinfoil hat wearing lunatic. I don't think it makes much of a difference to be honest.
Maybe they meet in a secret lair, wearing robes and masks, to plan out how to control the world.
And maybe they're just doing whatever they can to make sure they can't be touched, that their profits are always increasing, and that people are dependent on them. Which just makes them all act the same in the end anyway.
Their self-interest coincides with each other's plans as they are in similar situations. It doesn't have to be a conspiracy, it's just wealthy fricks acting like wealthy fricks.

Didn't watch the movie yet, but Mr Robot's kinography and music is more like putting the viewer in the mind of a schizo hacker : everything's "floaty", dark and undefined, with a loss of control and a hint of nostalgia for the 90's.
Definitely not a "so bad it's good" vibe, because S01-S02 at least felt new and exciting to me.

eh it was alright. the white male child was awful, the white daughter was pretty good. the white wife was a bipolar bitxh, and ethan hawk was just a stunted coward. having another black actor portrayed as a racist is insufferable, if you reversed the roles and had a white actor say the line "we shouldn't trust black people" their character would immediately be shunned as a vile racist, and cast down as a villian. but when a black actor says it, they're being smart and brave.

it's just tiring. i wish we could have black actors just be human being that have different features, but now in today's world, they're a vehicle for hoodrat behavior and white racism--and they're applauded for it. it's gotten to the point where i will absolutely avoid most media with blacks because they've been turned into a hyperealistic versin of themselves. which is like a feedback loop, because it seems now they see the vlacks on screen acting in a certain way and well, monkey see monkey do. now the only thing blacks do is literally spend every waking moment waiting for command words like "black" to pop up in normal, casual conversations and act fricking entitled and offended. it's no wonder why the world hates them, they're exhausting to be around and their personalities distill down to "white people bad, everything is racism"

    disgusting.

      >The multi-faceted attacks are 'the world we live in' with the biggest threat being ourselves (nothing to fear but fear itself shit).
      >The 2 black characters are, ofc, the strongest and level headed.
      >The deers are the audience/general population who hear 'noise' and act irrationally and threatening.
the symbolism of this movie couldn't be more on the nose if it tried, and it took the director an hour longer than needed to do this mixtape tier shit

I read the book about a year ago. This was a shitty adaptation. These are all the things I remember being different
    >George (black guy) shows up with his wife, he never dances with Amanda (Julia Roberts' character), I think they do share a hot tub but there are zero sexual overtones since he's much older
    >the black daughter is stuck in the city or something, probably dies
    >no cyberattacks, no drones dropping leaflets, no oil tankers on the beach
    >the noise is caused by planes
    >no guns being drawn when they visit the prepper
    >prepper's wife is also about to lose her teeth when they're talking
    >white daughter is never obsessed with Friends or any show at all, she's just autistic and ugly
    >the chaos is happening all around the world, not just in the US, and it is implied to be something beyond human control
    >near the end it says one woman (the owner of the house the white daughter ends up in) will die months after the story takes place in some army tents outside of some major city, meaning the chaos will go on
    >Amanda never reconciles with the black woman (which would be the daughter in the movie). In fact, they end up screaming at each other
I'm probably forgetting some stuff, but they butchered an already mediocre book with all the hacking shit and the idiotic "war on the US" angle

This Obama thing bugged me as a French.
If one of our old president made movies, I wouldn't know what to think about that.
Is it a way for them to keep a bit of soft power ?
Are they showing things they couldn't say during their presidency ?
Is it an upper class thing, thinking their opinion should be heard since they still have a bit of power and it's topical ?
Maybe I'm seeing too much into it, and it's just a rich retiree hobby of theirs. They sure can safely moralize and keep a crumb of media attention that way.

said. It's a way to spit their gall. One scene that felt a bit cheeky was when the black guy and julia roberts were conversing at the table in the evening

Hello there, you, reading this post. It's me, Maherashah Ali, star of hit Netflix film Leave The World Behind. Our nation stands at a critical juncture where unity should be our strength, yet internal division threatens to undermine the very fabric that binds us together. In the face of external challenges, our country's greatest weakness lies within – the fractures that emerge when we allow differences to define us. Internal division weakens our collective resolve and erodes the foundation of shared values upon which our nation was built. A house divided against itself cannot stand, and so it is with a nation. When we succumb to partisan strife, ideological clashes, and internal discord, we inadvertently open the door for external forces to exploit our vulnerabilities. Let us remember that a united front is not just a symbol of strength; it is a practical necessity for tackling the challenges that lie ahead. Only through solidarity can we safeguard our nation and ensure a prosperous future for generations to come. It is time to bridge the internal divides, for a house united can weather any storm. Is what the film is about. Thank you.

I'm so sick of post-apocalyptic films though, I have a feeling production companies like them because sets like abandon factories and big empty space with nobody in it is cheaper than setting up and filming a normal city going about its day as the world suddenly start ending. I want the actual event and not the post-event. The only zombie series that did this was Highschool of the Dead, which is anime/manga, they show the morning of the outbreak, chaos, electricity goes out, then water, day by day. Whereas every other zombie / apocalypse either either start post-apocalypse (28 Days Later) or briefly show the the day of the outbreak (The Last of Us, The Night Eats The World)...and then skip ahead, even Fear the Living Dead did this.

        >>Why didn't kevin bacon go to the bunker instead of telling them to go?

He had his family in the house. Probably didn't want to risk something happening to him.
But overall for a prepper he was pretty stupid.
You can't survive apocalypse on your own.
You need a group to rely on.
Even if you are prepper Rambo, a group of 100 hungry starving idiotic marauders will eventually kill you and rape your daughters and wife then eat all your supplies.
If he was really worried about end of the world scenario he should have proposed working together with the neighbours.

But I think that why he doesn't shoot them immediately on his porch and tells them about the bunker. Trust enough to let them try to keep themselves alive to use them as a community resource in the future. But not enough to open up his own home and preps to them

I love that there are no Asian or hispanic "Americans"

This movie is predictive programming as frick.
It feels eerily like the show Utopia from 2013. They gave us a 7 year advance warning of what they were going to do. They then slowly and methodically killed off hundreds of naturopathic doctors who would have been screaming at the top of their lungs that it was all bullshit. The guy who invented the pcr test had to go as well, can't have him running around saying you can't use the test to prove anything. They reined in control of all major social media so that any dissent was squashed right away.
Now they are setting the stage for the next steps. They already softening us up to the idea that major cyber attacks are coming. The country is divided as frick. Lefties have finally left the barn calling israelites colonizers. Major financial problems are just around the corner with all the shenanigans of wallstreet/blackrock etc. The border is wide open with who knows what types of agents are coming through. Agenda 2030 is fast approaching and lots of people have woken up to their plans.
I think they're just gonna say frick it and pull the plug.
One thing I do know though, if you're black and live in the country/woods, you better stay there and make friends with as many white people as possible. Try to be the complete opposite of the daughter, hell shoot for something more Carleton like. With no police or media to hold them back white people will be picking off black people in the city with precision and complete immunity. Race war? Nah, it will be a one way slaughter from coast to coast. As for myself, I'm moving to Post Falls Idaho and getting as many white friends as I can, this is one Black you will not be getting. I just bought my first can of Copenhagen dip.

It was pretty good. All the characters were over the top. The successful black man and his tatted up bra-less daughter complaining about someone wanting to frick her. The butthole older brother, and the little sister just checking out of the whole shitshow through sitcoms, and finally getting the hint that she needs to just look after herself.
The only message I got from it was that if God telling you to gtfo, just gtfo.

    2. Making resources a key part of the drama. If you want to see people how they react in crisis situation. It's good drama.

    >Thomsons are dead defending house
    >Someone drags trying to get to bunker so it's not hidden anymore
    >they were trying to get the last batch of food when they got confronted and everyine died
Instead, we had a bland as frick random ending if the kid just watching a fricking hallway and opening a bunker's door, eating candy just because moments prior.
Still doesn't explain the deers just packing together and not being agressive nor even noticing a mind breaker sound weapon, or why the frick does that lead the girl to the house

Finished watching it and it was shockingly good. The politics was well done with the wealthy black girl with the ghetto tattoos acting oppressed by the poorer white family and then in the end realising that she actually had a lot more in common with Julia Roberts character. The final scene was a pretty great comedic ending to an otherwise obviously terrible situation.

I liked that the movie attributes the ongoing civil war with rogue armed forces. It always feels like coup d'etat is the single biggest taboo in modern American cinematography. Every time they have a civil war it's about delusional southern Nazis or Black folk taking arms or Muslims working from within but American military is either not present or the good guys, fighting them.
Acknowledging that real civil war requires a part of the military switching sides was completely unexpected.
