didn't I post this exact same thing in a previous thread?
Daria is definitely my waifu. the episode where she was submitting to Trent and letting him get her bellybutton pierced, that was... that did some shit. gave me the boners.
Daria off the bat is more abrasive, that if you approached her she'd likely insult you or give a sarcastic remark. When there is something Daria and Jane care about they both can be kinda c**t, in a every girl is at least a 4 crazy scale.
Jane Lane is more fun imo, of the two Jane is more likely to actually go and pick up a guy for the night. Jane is also the most likely to stay in a bad relationship longer.
Daria for now. Maybe she'll grow up better (like in the short story episode) but as of the time in the show, she's definitely the more pessimistic/cynical of the two. Jane just plays up cynicism as a joke most of the time, and is otherwise much more of a 'try new things and be open to changes' type.
Daria's hiding away a good rack (but no butt) but Jane's sticc body can be appealing its own way (imagine) and her personality is less uptight and difficult.
that whole thing was handled very poorly.
truth is i relate a little less to daria each time i rewatch, but she will always be my waifu, and I know I could fix her flaws just by loving her. and talking things through intelligently. and she would fricking love that because nobody does that shit.
but yeah having an artist friend built in via jane would also be great.
wow, trashy quinn is kind of hilarious. and is it just similarity to other characters or do jane and brittany both look black? also I love that Burnout Girl was actually going to be a significant character. I get the impression Willy was just told "Draw a football guy" and he assumed maybe Daria's boyfriend. I know one of the early pilots was about Daria screwing with Kevin.
Oh shit, Willy Hartland worked on Daria?
he sure had a compatible art style to Judge's, if they were going that route that would have worked out great.
>also I love that Burnout Girl was actually going to be a significant character.
Burnout Girl had a line in Sealed With a Kick so she might have intended to be a secondary friend for Daria to give somebody else to interact with besides Jane; if so, they probably decided there were too many sarcastic girls in the main cast already.
That said, they used that design a lot. Maybe it was just because they really liked the character design (and it is a good one) or maybe it was a PnF deal where the character was around for so long in preproduction that they got attached to her even if her role was removed.
Shows take awhile to make and go through several changes. It’s entirely possible that at one point Kevin was actually supposed to be Daria’s boyfriend. It seems weird, but she may have originally been a completely different character.
I think there were one or two really late episodes in the original run where they sorta tweaked her design more towards her spinoff look. If I remember right, I think one of them was the swimming episode; Daria is noticeably smaller in that one than previous appearances.
season 1 was just rough in general. hell, the first episode is like.. could you really see Daria briefly singing 'row row row your boat' just to embarrass her family by gaslighting them into taking her to chuck e cheese
Honestly kinda. She likes doing it cuz it forces Quinn to miss social activities. And shes willing to sacrifice her night if it can drag her sister (and her parents to a lesser extent) down with her.
Right. All day every day.
Jane is talented, has a good sense of humor, and while she’s kind of cynical, she’s shown she can also let it go and cut loose every now and then. Skinny art chick ftw.
yeah wearing shoes in the house is bunk. then again this style can't really do them right simce you have to spread them way apart to fit all five on. might as well have just done like flintstones or dexter's lab or street fighter sprites where you just lower the number of toes and let it be representative of the real thing the way a triangle can represent a nose, yknow
yeah I like her.
Daria has like, a quarter of that burnout energy to her, and it is hot. If she didn't have such an elegant, Debutantesque hairdo, she'd be punk as frick in that jacket and boots.
I would totally talk her into getting it cut like this
Yeah, that was a massive downgrade that also managed to undermine a major point the film was trying to make.
Since the Breakfast Club is one of my favorite movies, I always hate when people misinterpret the makeover scene like this.
The makeover isn’t intended to be an upgrade nor is it a permanent change. It’s meant to show that someone actually cared enough about her to try and do something nice for her. Even if it didn’t really go all the way
Not those posters, but yeah, I know what you meant. It's still a wee bit hammy in a way to saying everyone can look pretty thou. I guess it could be more impactful if everyone wasn't Hollywood grade aesthetically attractive fully grown adults already.
Just woke up, but No that’s not really the point. The point isn’t that anyone can look pretty, the point is that Allison has lived for years as someone that nobody cares about and suddenly Claire is there and willing to give her a makeover.
It’s not intended as an upgrade, or really anything too special. Remember, they’re in detention and don’t really have access to enough stuff to do anything amazing. The whole point was that somebody cared about her. Because even if she goes right back to her old self tomorrow (which the movie implies is exactly what will happen) she still has a friend now. Someone who actually cares that she exists.
TLDR: the end result isn’t important and is actively supposed to be mostly ignored. The fact that a makeover happens at all is the important part because a makeover requires two people
that's what teens were like back then. look in your parents' yearbooks

that's a good point. it is a sweet gesture.
One mean comment isn't the same as a completely terrible person, if that was the case Daria should be first in the list of terrible people.
a pattern of behavior and shoddy treatment though...
>I always thought she was the kind of girl who pretended to be "cool" (in '90s terms), but inside she was just a normal girl.
nearly every high schooler pretended to be cool
There are three guy rhat follow Quinn around. Not the fashion club. Quinn also had friendship break over guys choosing her over the friend.
Isn't that the entire reason Sandi hates her?
Sandi set up rules about the fashion club that pretty much ecludes everyone else from joining. One rule being about weight.
Sandi breaks her leg, and while recovering becomes fat and is forced to leave the fashion club. Quinn helps her lose weight, and rejoin the fashion club, but the change the rules on weight to be a case by case study.
By the end of the show all the girls leave the fashion club, but are still friends.
She didn't make that, it was a caricaturist
what's amazing to me is, in such a simple art style, you can actually see all of those being exaggerated more-realistic features that the characters would have if they weren't just drawn with > noses, etc. Like we've all seen girls who look like that, and they could easily be those three.
Who was the most talented and/or successful of the Lanes? Does it even matter? Trent may be a slacker but knew how to collab with other artists, network, and socialize, and Jane knew how to apply herself in any field she focused on but cannot be outgoing enough to build any fellowship, but both only do it for themselves. So both have their strengths and weaknesses
trent was demonstrably bad at networking and collaboration. they had a whole episode about it. Mystik Spiral is only together because they all find themselves in the same places at the same time.
That might have been a MTV.com thing rather than on the show now that I think about it.
remember when she did a live webcam site thing and she's like "all Jane, all the time... except naked time." and everyone collectively whined because that's the best part!
God that old internet was wild and free.

>Trent may be a slacker but knew how to collab with other artists, network, and socialize,
No he couldn't. There's literally an entire episode about how he sucks at this and it's the final nail in the coffin of his and Daria's potential relationship.
Mystik Spiral always sucked and the only reason they had any notoriety is that the formed in the 90s. Back when sounding like shit was considered subversive and punk.
Jane's art, meanwhile, was good enough to be sold as knockoffs. Like not one to one, but close enough that people were still buying them up.
It's so good. They end up tracking the buyer. It's Brittany dad, there's a sad moment in which Brittany answer the door and isn't sure why Daria and Jane are there asking "if they cane to hang out?" It's sort of a sad thing of there's no actual reason they can't he friends.
Anyways they ask the dad if he bought a real art piece. To which the dad says no "it's a knockoff. That you can see the artist to lazy to finish some brudh strokes but you get what you pay for."
Jane go s from feeling like her painting are illegal bootlegs to realizing she was lazy in her painting. It's a noce humbling moment for jane.
. Brittney might still be bigger, but not by all that much, and it might even just be down to her wearing a tight shirt which shows them off.
Anonymous
Naw britney, in this art style, is easily two sizes bigger than Daria. Her boobs are rounder and definitely have more heft to them. Daria's are more high up and semicircular which sorta implies a lack of weight. Also Daria is trying to seem vapid and superficial so we cannot rule out she's wearing a bra that emphasizes her bust or even stuffed a bit. Either way is say Daria is C-cup at BEST and Britney is sn easy DD
7 months ago
Anonymous
Isn't some of that due to the different shirts? Britney's shirt is really clinging to every curve while Daria's is hanging off her boobs to leave some gap between the shirt and her skin at the bottom.
I tried to scale the images to closer to equal using Daria's lips as a benchmark.
On the other hand, it might be hard to believe Daria would buy a sexy push-up bra just to show up Quinn. She's shown altering a T-shirt she already owned to make it '90s fashionable belly-baring, after all.
Anonymous
Yeah I still think britneys bustier. Think about it like this. You ever see a girl who's boobs are far apart but not particularly large? I think that's what's going on with Daria. Its not about shirt tightness. Britney and daria wear the same gym clothes and they're clearly different sizes.
Anonymous
Also these clearly aren't scaled together. For one Daria is IN the Britney picture and she clearly looks smaller than the one on the left.
Anonymous
I wonder if there's a profile shot when Daria is in Quinn-mode.
I think Brittney is more dismissive of Daria and Jane. Like "oh it's you..." But with her normally bubbly personality. She doesn't seem all that stoked to see them but shes also not gonna tell them to leave.
I wish some anon was gung ho enough to make a Daria mega.

That scene was a clever turn. For five seasons they hadn't introduced Brittany's parents, and when they do it seems to be setting her dad to be as stupid as her with their tacky McMansion; exactly the sort of person who'd fall for the Hardy Boys schlock Jane was entertaining about her copy art being sold as real ones, only for the guy to actually understand and appreciate painting enough to know that she had slacked off and turned in bad work because she was sick of painting. It was for Jane what the whole fourth and fifth seasons were for Daria.

Still don't get it but ok.
women have the instinct to decorate. the problem is, they're supposed to be decorating their men. because women are also the ones who judge appearances. men don't fricking care.
Trent is a fricking disaster, lazy and unmotivated, ambitionless, not even for his own projects. Lane could socialiaze with all kinds of folks and integrate in different spaces if she applied. She was more assertive too.
Sounds like sour grapes. Slackers are the best kind of people to be around because they wont ever expect much from people in general. They would be right to assert that notion. Slackers keep the world in check.
as long as they aren't openly shilling for handouts, to an extent that is more work than an actual job would be
Trent just has decently wealthy and very hands-off parents.
Jane's working a lot harder on her art, but I think more importantly she ends up going to college. I seem to recall Daria having to talk her into it, though. So she was considering just being an uneducated slacker artist for a while and potentially starving later.
Instead she got to rack up severe debt! woo!

eh let's not pretend any of that is about the marketable value of skills. That became superfluous the moment it became clear that it's prohibitively expensive to pay a decent wage for this kind of thing, and profitability went in the toilet in general.
Naw, this one is purely about who's ruining the industry more, and the answer is both of them. I just do not understand how hard it is to backpedal. Go back to when it was working, and do that. Do it exactly the way you did it then, until you can think of something better. Between Trent and Jane, Jane had more talent and a greater chance at a successful art career.
Out of all the Lanes, I envied the dad. He was a world-traveling photographer who could afford to raise a crap ton of kids and give his daughter enough money for art supplies. Wish I could do that.
yeah there's something to that, but I still want to actually be with, and enjoy being around, all those kids. Instead of them all being hellions and the two slackers are actually the best ones.

yknow the annoying thing about a show about two friends where a bunch of people ship them, is you can't discuss fun awkward FRIEND moments between them without people going too sexual with it and ruining it.
Jane needing Daria to pose nude for her is extremely fun on so many levels that don't involve carpetmunching or clamjamming.
I dont care what you say no dudes asking their bros to pose nude for them. So two """"girlfriends"""" doing that with each other without it being at least being bi curious is not going to be as thing with Daria and Jane. The movie special "Is it Fall Yet" put Jane into the situation to experiment and the misread signs scene was actually not cringe.
uh huh
that movie was about a predatory situational dyke bawd, and how those people try to confuse you and make you secondguess your own feelings
sharing nudity is just fun for everyone.
There is 0% chance Daria would do that. She’d have to be coaxed and bribed to model at all even with clothes (probably with pizza and she’d negotiate something on top of that) but nude…definitely not in her character for the show.
which is the challenge of writing it realistically. Making it hinge around her caring about Jane's needs helps. and you know, getting in touch with letting go of ridiculous hangups
>Jane needing Daria to pose nude for her is extremely fun on so many levels
Except it wouldn't happen. It wouldn't just be out of character for Daria to do it, it would be out of character for Jane to even ask. If she wanted a nude model, she'd find an actual model. The only reason for that scene to exist would be pure contrivance for the sake of carpetmuching and/or clamjamming.
models cost a lot of money. She could be in a bind
>it would be out of character for Jane to even ask.
Feels exactly like Jane to ask. Jane is not a lesbian, nor is she sexually attracted to Daria. But fricking with Daria and asking her to get naked is something Jane would totally do.
Also remember Jane ask Daria to dye her hair like a tiger despite Daria never dyeing hair before. She git mad when Daria fricked up and even her brother basically had to tell her what else were you expecting.
also this. could have jokey joke joke value. Or Daria would assume at the start that's what it was.
I feel like a lot of you don't remember how the 2000s felt. how free friends were with each other on webcam.

based. the entire fashion club is very frickable. the show also has a few God-tier MILFs and some great background characters. its crazy there isn't more porn.
As they were portrayed in the show? Neither. If the writers wanted to give them love interests, they should have been similarly outcast people. It actually made sense that Tom dogged Jane with Daria and ended up leaving her too. But seriously, if you look closely at Daria and Jane you begin to understand why everyone chases the Brittany's. Daria's and Jane's are sour, unpleasable b***hes. Brittany's are ditzy but cute and usually pleasant.
C'mon Daria let me paint you naked >No. I don't want myself naked in some random person wall, where everyone will see me naked.
What if I cover your face?
So guys can cut out I'm an actual person and reduce my body to object of desire for men lust? No way! >What if it's not a sexual part of the body like your feet?
Somehow that's even worse. >What about from the back?
The back?
Yeah the back. It keeps your feminine form but at the dame time adding a layer of mystery of an unknown back facing the sky or sunset.
Hmmm so it'll be me, but no one will no it's me and I won't be showing off my body? >Maybe just your but
Hey!
Okay well but a blanket or something. (Real low)
it's incredible how many great animated series existed in 2000 that absolutely couldn't, afterward. That episode of Mission Hill where they savagely mock the ridiculous news cycle and the overhyping of disasters... god, we need that, but we would not be allowed that.
I'm now imagining an episode where everyone is freaked out over 9/11 except Daria, who thinks it's an inside job and keeps going on rants about imperialism and government surveillance
Naw. I think Daria would be more annoyed about how the tragedy is being used to promote gung-ho nationalism. Daria rarely entertains outright conspiracies but she also rarely overextends her interest in a topic outside of how her peers treat her.
Which reminds season 1 episode 9 "Too cute" revolvs around Quinn and Daria talking about breast implants. Obviously they didn't, and they episode even goes out of it's eay to tell you the girl who did get surgery ended up popping and ruining her.
But imagine a bizzaro universe Daria and Quinn got breast implants and the whole show they're walking around big fake breasts.
I imagine a lot of time talking to myself while she stares into her own reflection in the glass of free ice water. A waste of time, money, and effort. She'll make a great trophy wife one day to someone.
i think it was exactly the right kind of harsh. It said with a pretty strong spine "people are dicks and treat smart people like shit, but they're also just doing what they think is normal and you can't blame them too hard. and you can't change them by staying miles away, either"
>Ohhh honeyyyy. Are you sure? You know Aunt Flo can be a little late sometimes, right?"
and again, if it's out of wedlock or with someone too poor to take care of her, she'd just go into lawyer mode and start drawing up plans and by the time Quinn got a word in, she'd already have picked out a preschool

I get it, still is a shame Jane more social behaviors get dragged by Daria's insistence on being outcast, re-watching the show you see a lot of people being friendly to Daria and her being kind of an butthole before they even do anything.
extroversion and introversion could be more defined by social group dynamic imbalances as the more comfortable you are in a social group the more open you will be to socialize in one way or another
even just the act of listening to someone's story is inclusion of your time with someone else

The fashion club is a good example of how to spot the narcissist. Quinn thinks mostly about herself but is willing to share her expertise to beautify people who needs her advice. Sandi only cares about being the best looking and having the final say in the group. Daria is only willing to include people who gets her brand of humor or world outlook but excludes everyone by default until; they make the first leap into her quills. Jane is a loner like Daria but is willing to get along with people and socialize while still focusing on what makes her happy while trying to include people, like Quinn does in her group.
Daria and Sandi share similar anti-social traits.
Jane and Quinn share similar social traits.

Yeah like, she's playing it safe for a reason. I feel like a lot of people didn't quite get what the theme song was conveying. Daria, though living a pretty cushy life overall, is still getting more than her share of shit and is not consistently having her basic emotional needs met. Each episode starts out with this song that alternates between flatness and harmonic rage, and the show itself ends with Daria saying you can get through any bullshit if you have good friends and pizza. It's a show about coping, and I feel like a lot of folks missed that, not understanding why she behaves as she does. I guess if you've never felt the crushing weight of anti-intellectualism, it's hard to relate (and those who have come off like smug self-important martyrs). I would be just like Daria if I didn't have way more loving and supportive parents. And for extra points, my sister basically was Quinn.
And speaking of beginnings and endings, I just realized the crazy noncanon alt-art at the end credits is totally a manga thing.

Right? In the end, Lawndale is perhaps inadvertently a picture of late 90s economic success and the inescapable fact that people with more money just live better lives. even the dumber ones end up better educated than they would have.
I dislike when it turns into... well let's not even talk about that. Yes, this has been lovely.
Would like a little more lewd art but i'll take this. Just sincere appreciation and conversation.
cherrywood. a rich brown that is full of red notes. Typical middle-of-the-road brown hair is a dark orange, but hers is a dark red-orange. My mom's hair is like, halfway to there. that's actually well-noticed, since her dad has lightish medium brown hair, her mom has auburn, and sister ended up fully ginger.
Anon, those are triplets! It had to be a hard time on her.
so out of the 6 in that generation only 1 reproduced and had 3 kids at once
Well Brittany and Kevin are the only ones that have settled down aside from Quinn (in that group.) Daria, Jane, and Trent are all single or dating around, going by Entertainment Weekly post.
Also taking that into account, he's some interesting Daria lore:
After the show ended, the crew stated that Daria would likely end up a columnist and wouldn't be single forever. Then, in the mid 00s (maybe even early 10s) as a publicity stunt, a IRL Newspaper had Daria publish a column as if she was real (one of the main writers from the show wrote the post) and in the article it mentions a few facts about how her life has changed since highschool, including having a boyfriend (and I think they were living together?)
Assuming that the Entertainment Weekly post is canon, that means Daria had a long-term boyfriend between College and the modern day but it didn't work out.
(I can't remember where the article was, but I think I might have a copy of it if I do some digging)
Ok, actual question. Is Daria's hair supposed to be brunette, redish brown, or dark redhead?
Redish Brown is the best descriptor. She's on the red-head scale but not a full-on ginger.
I have that one! It's right here
I found the other too (if anyone wants me to post it) but it's just Daria writing an Opinion Piece on Valentine's Day and joking her and her boyfriend are going Christmas Caroling door to door as their romantic celebration.
ahaha yeah that one. written by the original writer and all. I remember people pointing out that it sounds like she's still living with her original family because she's hiding from them. but I guess it could be used for visits. I don't see Daria getting stuck in the rut so many of us did, she'd move in with Jane somewhere before staying with her parents.
>Well Brittany and Kevin are the only ones that have settled down aside from Quinn (in that group.) Daria, Jane, and Trent are all single or dating around, going by Entertainment Weekly post. >Also taking that into account, he's some interesting Daria lore: >After the show ended, the crew stated that Daria would likely end up a columnist and wouldn't be single forever. Then, in the mid 00s (maybe even early 10s) as a publicity stunt, a IRL Newspaper had Daria publish a column as if she was real (one of the main writers from the show wrote the post) and in the article it mentions a few facts about how her life has changed since highschool, including having a boyfriend (and I think they were living together?) >Assuming that the Entertainment Weekly post is canon, that means Daria had a long-term boyfriend between College and the modern day but it didn't work out. >(I can't remember where the article was, but I think I might have a copy of it if I do some digging)
Thank you very much for some of that lore dump. Daria material long past it's time in the sun faded as fast as it came.
Oh, no Prob Anon! Glad to be of service.
Here's the article in question if you wanna give it a read.
I have a shallow Daria archive of stuff but I knew a few members of the old Daria community have even more fascinating digital trinkets than I do. I think the rarest thing I have (which I got from a fansite I think is defunct?) is a (partial?) copy of the chatlog and audio files from MTV.com when the Daria characters answered chatroom questions and the VAs actually recorded some of the answers. It was 2000s, so not a live-stream, just a live chat with some .wavs uploaded concurrently to the MTV site.
Have this nugget from the first 5 minutes >05:29:34 PM> MODMSG hodaddy8:daria - is jane a lesbian? and if so, does that make you a lesbian? >05:29:44 PM> mtvdaria:I don't know. Give me a big kiss, and we'll find out. >05:30:02 PM> MODMSG lennonchik:Jane, you're my kindred spirit, first of all. but how do you manage to stay so confident all the time? >05:30:11 PM> mtvjane:I don't know any better >05:30:37 PM> mtvjane:But now you just made me feel very insecure
It's a shame there's no real depository for this stuff anymore.
I have a few shows I have extensive archives of related media to but outside of sharing it here or interested friends, they just rot on my PC. And it's getting harder and harder to find this material out in the wild, online. A shame the modern internet and corporations don't like fansites anymore.
Have another bit of the log >05:31:26 PM> MODMSG quinnsfan2000:what does Quinn do in her spare time? >05:31:36 PM> mtvquinn:I clean up all the erase marks in my datebook. >05:31:51 PM> MODMSG johanney1:Jane, does it bother yout that obviously everyone is so obsessed with you being a lesbian, when you're obviously not? >05:32:17 PM> mtvjane:Obviously it doesn't obviously bother me one obvious bit >05:32:29 PM> MODMSG electricpickle:Are you really a brunette, Daria? >05:32:43 PM> mtvdaria:No,I've been dying my naturally blonde hair since birth, and you've found me out. >05:32:59 PM> MODMSG highrose:When and where was Daria born? >05:33:14 PM> mtvdaria:Early 80's. I'd rather not say where---police records, you know. >05:33:41 PM> MODMSG hyperangel2000:How long did it take to make the movie? >05:33:58 PM> mtvdaria:It took us a year. Cartoon characters don't get vacations, dammit. >05:34:07 PM> MODMSG doku:Quinn, do you know that there is a really nasty blackhead right near your nose? >05:34:14 PM> mtvquinn:E*****!!!!! >05:34:50 PM> MODMSG crazymonkeyluv:why do you wear the same clothes? >05:34:56 PM> mtvdaria:Easier on the artists. >05:35:14 PM> MODMSG dariarules1:Hey daria is Tom a good kisser? >05:35:20 PM> mtvdaria:With or without tongue? >05:35:46 PM> MODMSG cry884:I think Daria should date Jane... Don't you? >05:35:57 PM> mtvdaria:I never date anyone that I'm mud wrestling. >05:36:18 PM> mtvjane:Dammit!- there goes my chance!!!

yeah the internet is fricking dying
I think corporations liked websites just fine, the people destroying websites and the net are the ones pushing the anti-corporate message (though naturally they themselves are corporations, but it's in the same way all the 'i care about the poor' politicians are rich.)

Oh, I didn't mean it in the sense that corpos are changing the net in that aspect.
I mean, corpors have taken down a ton of fan sites (and thus the content hosted on them) because of copyright. Sometimes it's legit, like re-hosting whole episodes of shows but sometimes it's grey areas (like uploading tie-in comics that aren't sold anymore, but technically are the property of some random studio) or uploading behind-the-scenes material that is technically studio property. Sometimes, companies just don't like some random person behind a fansite being associated with their brand (and thus no control from them.) I can't remember what show it was for, but I recall them getting in trouble for uploading cleaned-up background tracks of the show's music but the studio had the site taken down because it was their property and that even though they didn't plan on publicly releasing it (despite fans willing to pay) it somehow would hurt them financially for people to pirate this product (they weren't offering).
But there's a lot of other factors going into the simplifications and homogeneous nature of the modern internet beyond corporate copyright stuff. It just isn't helping niche fan communities thrive, is all.

this is the first i'm hearing of any fansites being taken down for copyright reasons. reviews are protected by the constitution, and nobody gives a frick about what some fansite is doing.
Oh but you're talking about.. right, archiving episodes and sharing files, yeah. that shit. no business WANTS to crush that, lawyers force them to. fricking lawyers.
Anon, those are triplets! It had to be a hard time on her.

Redish Brown is the best descriptor. She's on the red-head scale but not a full-on ginger.
I love that she now has her own joey, jeffy, and jamie.
and no husband to be seen
After the optimistic ending of the show's finale, Daria being a bitter-looking cat lady in fricking New York City is a big downer. Jane also looks like she's twice her actual age.
Daria turning into Tina Fey, but bitter wine aunt, was a load of crap. In fact, a lot of them a bullshit.
Daria should have ended up a modestly successful novelist, possibly in a genre she detests. Britanny and Kevin were on track to never date again, as she becomes a trophy bride at university and he ends up stuck in high school another two years.
This makes me think Trent and Daria should have found a way to make it work. Seems like they both end up alone and in mediocrity. Trent lacks motivation and ambition besides playing music but that’s not really a downside of Daria also ends up a loser.
speaking of hair, I was always able to take Trent more seriously as legitimately having hair that dark, Jane's always looked dyed to me. Maybe because her eyes are lighter and her skin is like, a hair lighter than his (despite presumably getting a lot more sun than Trent ever does). it doesn't feel like she'd have the genes for jet black hair.
This is the best Daria thread I've ever seen. So many years of people going >ACTUALLY she's an butthole
as if the show wasn't overtly about her coming to terms with her feelings of alienation and insecurity. Glad people seem to have actually watched the show.
What always sickened me, now that you've fully brought it up, is that these people are on Cinemaphile. what the shit are you doing here, you used to harass people who would go here. or on the internet at all. Get off of our internet, we might be buttholes once in a while but we're never 'pick on the smart weirdo' buttholes.
I think it's less the people who used to shit on nerds and outcasts, but more the people who used to be nerds and outcasts having initially watched Daria and thought she was the coolest, only to rewatch it after they've grown up a little and have a weird reaction to the fact that she wasn't supposed to be an ideal. It's a bit like the three stages of Catcher in the Rye, where first you idealize Holden, then when you start feeling embarrassed by your teenage behavior you hate him, but then hopefully once you have some distance you can be sympathetic to being a bit of a messed up teen.
hm. I want to argue but i can't think of very many.

ahh internalized self-hatred, yeah that makes sense.
I can't pretend I've never experienced that. Groovania fricking blew my mind when I first saw it, the second time I'm like "this trite hipsterism is appalling. why did this make me feel like it was cool?"
I also think that a lot of people have one or both pathological conditions where they either deny that bad shit happened to them which led to some of their bad behavior, or obsess over it and use it as an excuse. and the latter fuels more of the former. So they might be projecting some of that "hostility" onto Daria who is pretty damn benign.
The fifth season is about that and the fourth prepares the way by becoming more serialized and finally demolishing any pedestal Daria could stand on by betraying Jane, but the first three seasons (and the third season is longer than any other season) rarely touched on the idea.
Yes, it's the last episode of the first season. I think it's the only episode of that season to touch on it, and I don't know the next time it came out. The idea IS there from early on, but it rarely worked on it.
I say this about everything, but doesn't it grind your gears that all the rule 34 of Daria is so grotesque and nasty, none of it sweet or remotely believable for the characters
>steal tom from jane and ends poorly >but now she steals brittany from kevin, still unintentionally >but this time it all works out >and kevin getting cucked is actually funny
>"I can't believe you're going out with that Brain instead of me. The QB. Besides you're both chicks." >"Wake up Kevvy. Its the 90s. Girls can have girlfriends too!" >"So...does that mean I get to watch you two make out?" >"Ooooooh!"
I like to think Daria goes commando for hygienic reasons as well as because underwear is an idiotic thing invented to sell cloth, but realistically she's got boring granny panties.
Jane probably alternates between thongs, lacey lingerie, and boxers. Possibly at random.
I just want some good Quinn rule 34.
honestly kinda hard to imagine in-character sex from her. I'm the biggest hebe around, but Quinn feels decidedly... unready for sex.
To me she seems like the type who has, to herself, stated that the furthest she's ever going to go is a handy. Like okay, you got your orgasm, thanks for dinner, you can leave now. but in practice has never had to do that. hell did we ever see her kissing joey jeffy or jamie? even in a friendly way?

Oh, right. He was named after a Dragon Ball character I think.
It's actually weirdly impressive if a person could draw for decades and not manage to progress artistically even if by sheer accident.

I've got a few Daria novelties like that, but most of them are copies of transcripts from events (like the Daria voicemails from the MTV New Years event.)
I have physical copies of both books but too scared to destroy them to get HD Digital copies.
nice. I think MTV wouldn't have actually allowed that.

inorite. It's funny how your future not ending up according to your plans makes you realize how many things you rejected would totally have been better. Like I was all "fff I don't wanna waste the best years of my life getting a medical or law degree" so I wasted them in a soulcrushing office job instead. Granted those are still terrible, terrible things to be, but at least i'd have money.

if you have a smart TV there are guides on youtube to help with that
often comes to downloading a "file explorer" app that allows you to detect any file and you'll need to make sure if the smart TV's base media player will play the files
you then will probably need to download a new movie player
>often comes to downloading a "file explorer" app that allows you to detect any file and you'll need to make sure if the smart TV's base media player will play the files >you then will probably need to download a new movie player
I don't think Roku has any other media players. And again, I couldn't even play it from my computer through Plex. I have no idea what the problem is. I think the videos need to be completely reconverted, and idk if it's worth the effort.
the problem is relying on your TV to act as a computer, when these "smart" TVs can barely even function as phones-pretending-to-be-computers. All they know is play ads, redundant menus, ignoring key TV options in sai dmenus, have bad color balance, eat hot chip, and spy
I think they're just mkv. But something about the way they're encoded or something doesn't work. Idk, I don't know tech shit. I think someone said the issue is that it's vp9.
Dr. Katz was so funny in that dry wit way that seems extinct today because sarcasm would be implying to much of the bad thing you are referencing. Merely mentioning an awful act in jest because you know it's wrong it forbidden and triggering. The stupid and ignorant should never of had access of the internet.
when they were building all that shitty phonernet social media garbage, they should have put it on a separate internet. not accessible to or from ours.
in fairness though I didn't really 'get' dr. katz when I was younger. it's a little TOO dry most of the time.also, it's hard to be sarcastic when nothing is so ludicrous that it can't be real/intentional now
this has been known about for a while
it doesnt matter how much you show daria is alienating herself from society by being a cynical, smartmouth, she is the main character and she makes it look cool
so you cant not tell people to do something, because they will do it anyways
and sarcasm itself has supposedly reached its limit with the rise of the new sincerity and is being looked down on as a weak form of detached irony (though i dont agree with that and would rather have sarcastic smartasses from now till the end of time, you cant deny the zeitgeist)
The existence of Jodie and Mack was potentially a small smokescreen so a character like Tiffany could be included.
But honestly I love my dumb raspy Asian bimbo and I will not let any executive take that away from me.

The racial aspect would be no problem if she was white. The only apparent reason to make her Asian is to satisfy some diversity quota.
Unless someone on staff had a fetish for Asian bimbos.
Maybe they just wanted to make her Asian. It's not that deep. Sometimes when you're an artist you're just like "oh hey maybe I'll make this one tall or brunette or Asian. I doubt they thought about it for more than 5 minutes.

well, back then anyway. these days, sadly no. even I have been unable to stop looking at people and thinking about their race non-stop. You can avoid being brainwashed into bad actions, but you can't avoid being brainwashed at all.
>well, back then anyway. these days, sadly no. even I have been unable to stop looking at people and thinking about their race non-stop.
You're senile and Cinemaphile overuse has rotted your brain.
hardly. Cinemaphile's the place with the least concentration of that nonsense.
it's living in minneapolis that fricked it up. I saw someone wrote "ethiopian land" on the back of a stop sign, and all I could think is "a white guy probably wrote that so he could feel better about being able to afford to live here"
his heart's in the right place, he just has his facts wrong.
keep in mind who's in charge of the facts, and who's manipulating what few instructors our side has, to teach (the manipulated version of) our values to well-meaning kids like this.
I liked this episode because Jane got sick of Daria always complaining and doing nothing and her getting butthurt and actually doing something, just for things to go her ways thanks to a series of events outside of her cotrol.
I liked seeing the principal finally getting called on being fricking terrible at her job. she doesn't get fired, but still. Only part that bugged me is that anti-sugar nonsense, but it wasn't as bad as shit we'd see now. I think we're within 5 to 10 years of it being forbidden to even show a soda on a kids' show. Hell I don't watch that new garbage anyway so maybe it already is, like how they banned skirts without pants under.
>Only part that bugged me is that anti-sugar nonsense, but it wasn't as bad as shit we'd see now.
that part has aged like fine wine
when it came out in the 90s, we already knew soda was bad for you
but in the 2020s we have since learned that sugar is way worse for you than we thought, with refined sugar being a much bigger cause for obesity than even saturated fats
daria riffing on corporations starting with our education to sell us projects has only gotten increasingly more relevant in the internet age where people willingly sell their privacy to corporations to get cat videos on demand and selling things to kids has become the norm
I don't have a pic but she definitely wears the same gym uniform as Daria. I remember a joke where she keeps falling on her face while doing the splits because she's top heavy.
I'm working with crap image sources but I think I got the scale right (Brittany is slightly taller than Daria); Brittany's clearly at least twice as large.
it's.. overdone, for sure. but a mature show like this with complex writing is kind of asking for a LITTLE analysis. as long as you don't go overboard with it and forget it's a show.
Yeah I'd prefer if we could just talk about the show and characters without treating them like real people. I have no idea why anons are speculating over a 14 year old's cup size, its very odd.
Well, what I need you to understand is that you're a freak. You don't have to be ashamed of it or anything, but you can't go calling us weird. It's not even an issue of majority (though we do have that here), a functional person behaves as we are. I don't know what happened to you, late bloomer, overly restrictive upbringing, whatever, but... this is what humans do. we wonder how big breasts are, and we project onto cartoons, toys, whatever we can pareidolize into a person.
So it's okay to speculate about a 16-year-old's breasts
You know they're the same breasts, right? They might change size, but... well, that falls under 'speculating on tit size' so you can't answer without participating.
>I wasn't speculating anybody's cup size when a 14, let alone fictional characters.
so you like men, which is fine
yeah those are definite Bs. she's just a little slip of a thing, so they look bigger. remember cup size is based on inches of protrusion from the underlying breastbone and whatever other meats you got on there, so.. kinda like dick size, you can reach deeper if you want, but the end result is how far it sticks out.
>Only part that bugged me is that anti-sugar nonsense, but it wasn't as bad as shit we'd see now.

oh wow, you're actually sucked into that. please, please look into.. like, anything in history on any subject. look into the people you're listening to. Look into basic organic chemistry. something. hell, you referenced the saturated fats thing. do you not understand that because they were wrong about that, -they are wrong about everything- ?
I believe it's two years. Quinn's in 9th and 10th and Daria goes through 11th and 12th grade
Though I wanted to say they joined their first year mid-stream, but that can't be right. Then Quinn would have been in 9th grade and not in the same school. Someone correct me if there were multiple 'it's summer vacation now' moments
i just couldn't count
i meant 8th
point is they're two years apart, so if they did 2 and a half years at Lawndale High, then Daria couldn't be graduating at the end but Quinn being there at the beginning. so it had to be 2 years or less.

I don't think Daria and Quinn are exactly 2 years apart, but like 1.5 years. So if they have birthdays at the right time of year, they could appear to be two years apart but only a grade apart.
What
I believe it's two years. Quinn's in 9th and 10th and Daria goes through 11th and 12th grade
Though I wanted to say they joined their first year mid-stream, but that can't be right. Then Quinn would have been in 9th grade and not in the same school. Someone correct me if there were multiple 'it's summer vacation now' moments
is the intent.
At the start of the show, they join mid-school year (though, I don't think a specific month is given, so it could be as soon as a month after regular classes started) with Daria (at age 16, soon to be 17) in 11th grade while Quinn (at age 14) is in 9th grade.
Then they continue like this for 4 seasons.
Then in 'Is it Fall Yet?' the school year ends, Summer happens, and then the next school year starts.
Then in Season 5, Daria (who is now 18) starts her Senior Year and Quinn (who is now 15) starts her the 10th grade.
The issue is, when Quinn starts 10th grade, we're shown she's taking a specific class Daria took in the first episode, implying Daria started in the 10th grade. But, you can resolve this with the same logic justifying why Daria is an overachieving honor student in core classics with Brittany and Kevin.
There's also a few offhand remarks about past summers or other school years, but these statements also imply Daria and Quinn grew up in Lawndale and didn't move from Highland so it's easier to just blame it on broken continuity in later seasons.

I guess they could have only been a grade apart, but i could have sworn they were meant to be 2 grades apart.. besides, do you really think they would, given the choice of letting quinn enter kindergarten at 5 or 6, choose 5? for Quinn? >explanation
thanks for figuring that out. so that first mid-way-through year took 4 seasons. >references to growing up in Lawndale
shit, did they? that's a common error, I remember Disney's Doug did that. It went right over my head. >15
well hang on, you turn 15 in 9th grade. you're suggesting they're 2.5 years apart. did you mean 16?

There isn't very strong continuity with the Beavis and Butthead version of Daria anyway, in character design and especially in personality. B&B Daria is mischievous and has a good time making fun of Beavis and Butthead.
I love when you love a show for waifu purposes and various interesting points it makes about things, and you forget it has good oldfashioned simpsons homestar kinda humor, with wacky but believable characters with various foibles and funny conflicts
very cute. but it'd be cuter if instead of everyone having bedroom eyes, they were just skimpily clad at a sleepover because sleepwear, and Brittany was excited and Daria was a little embarrassed
my only guess is the amyl acetate in the familiar banana smell is also found in New Skin liquid bandage, which you might have had put on you when you went to urgent care with bad scrapes or something

Daria is definitely my waifu. the episode where she was submitting to Trent and letting him get her bellybutton pierced, that was... that did some shit. gave me the boners.
>daria but in the style of a party bawd from the 60s/70s
>the 90s/00s are now as far from us as daria was from this reference
Bruvs.
... nah i'm actually comfortable with that... that feels right. it might help that I grew up with a lotta 60s culture in the 90s.
We're as far away from 1950s as they were from the literal Wild West.
These sequences with the characters in costume
had so much soul
wew
Both at the same time while they work out their sexual experimentation phase on each other
This is the correct answer.
new head canon almonds activated
which ones the bigger c**t
Hmm good question.
Jane just plays up cynicism as a joke most of the time, and is otherwise much more of a 'try new things and be open to changes' type.
neither, they both eat pizza
identifying with Daria is a massive red flag
Left
Writegays are more tolerable than inkcels
Huhuhuhu watch this, Beavis. two birds with one,.. uhhh, gun or whatever
>episode is about anderson being sad his son is an adult with his own life and doesn't want to go hunting with his old man anymore
it's so weird how the new-new show has fleshed out Anderson so much
Fricking died of laughter at that, had to pause it
Daria's hiding away a good rack (but no butt) but Jane's sticc body can be appealing its own way (imagine) and her personality is less uptight and difficult.
Right, totally.
Daria needs to be a lot more naked.
When I was a kid and I watched the show I identified a lot with Daria despite being an artist. Nowadays I feel like I identify with Jane.
My favorite arc is the Tom arc because it shook things up but I hate Tom as a character
that whole thing was handled very poorly.
truth is i relate a little less to daria each time i rewatch, but she will always be my waifu, and I know I could fix her flaws just by loving her. and talking things through intelligently. and she would fricking love that because nobody does that shit.
but yeah having an artist friend built in via jane would also be great.
I'm more physically attracted to Daria but I'd probably get along better long-term dating Jane.
Have Beta-Jane.
Oh shit, Willy Hartland worked on Daria?
wow, trashy quinn is kind of hilarious. and is it just similarity to other characters or do jane and brittany both look black? also I love that Burnout Girl was actually going to be a significant character. I get the impression Willy was just told "Draw a football guy" and he assumed maybe Daria's boyfriend. I know one of the early pilots was about Daria screwing with Kevin.
he sure had a compatible art style to Judge's, if they were going that route that would have worked out great.
>also I love that Burnout Girl was actually going to be a significant character.
Burnout Girl had a line in Sealed With a Kick so she might have intended to be a secondary friend for Daria to give somebody else to interact with besides Jane; if so, they probably decided there were too many sarcastic girls in the main cast already.
That said, they used that design a lot. Maybe it was just because they really liked the character design (and it is a good one) or maybe it was a PnF deal where the character was around for so long in preproduction that they got attached to her even if her role was removed.
oh yeah they had one of those too!
Shows take awhile to make and go through several changes. It’s entirely possible that at one point Kevin was actually supposed to be Daria’s boyfriend. It seems weird, but she may have originally been a completely different character.
Jesus Christ, we really dodged a bullet.
Yeah you can see it alot in Daria fron Beavis and Butthead
The design wasn't there yet
I am so glad that they ditched the black bf trope.
Right. All day every day.
Jane is talented, has a good sense of humor, and while she’s kind of cynical, she’s shown she can also let it go and cut loose every now and then. Skinny art chick ftw.
NEITHER!
quinn is so fricking hot
she has a really cute face and body.
but Daria does too...
You can say that again. She's perfect.
We know. Jamie
This
I want to make love to Quinn.
we know Joey
My name ain't Joey.
Sorry Jamie
Neither their underaged.
What's the appeal.
out of 10
not in most states. you are though.
another good show
I'm still mad Daria isn't barefoot too.
her poor eye and eyebrow... being a teen is rough
yeah wearing shoes in the house is bunk. then again this style can't really do them right simce you have to spread them way apart to fit all five on. might as well have just done like flintstones or dexter's lab or street fighter sprites where you just lower the number of toes and let it be representative of the real thing the way a triangle can represent a nose, yknow
Burnout Girl is CUTE
yeah I like her.
Daria has like, a quarter of that burnout energy to her, and it is hot. If she didn't have such an elegant, Debutantesque hairdo, she'd be punk as frick in that jacket and boots.
I would totally talk her into getting it cut like this
Never forget that they fricking ruined ally sheedy’s perfect look when they gave her the “hot girl” makeover.
The fact that a makeover happens at all is the important part because a makeover requires two people
Makeover Makeover
Makeover Makeover
Makeover Makeover
Makeover!
that's what teens were like back then. look in your parents' yearbooks
that's a good point. it is a sweet gesture.
a pattern of behavior and shoddy treatment though...
>Filename
I understood that reference
>Burnout Girl is CUTE
I always thought she was the kind of girl who pretended to be "cool" (in '90s terms), but inside she was just a normal girl.
C U T E
Who surfs with a leather jacket on?
you dont?
loser
>I always thought she was the kind of girl who pretended to be "cool" (in '90s terms), but inside she was just a normal girl.
nearly every high schooler pretended to be cool
Anon...
You just described every 'cool' person.
Jen's polka-dot bikini!
does quinn mog the entire fashion club?
Isn't that the entire reason Sandi hates her?
It's not a very glamorous swimsuit.
There are three guy rhat follow Quinn around. Not the fashion club. Quinn also had friendship break over guys choosing her over the friend.
Turn the sun down...
Turn the sun down...
Turn the suuuuun dooooown
best girl coming through
I love the way she depicts her friends in the group. It kind of lifts the veil on how she sees herself in the group dynamic.
She didn't make that, it was a caricaturist
what's amazing to me is, in such a simple art style, you can actually see all of those being exaggerated more-realistic features that the characters would have if they weren't just drawn with > noses, etc. Like we've all seen girls who look like that, and they could easily be those three.
OH frick you're right! Was it at the school daze carnival or something?
I think so yeah. And the other three were pissed but Sandy loved it. it was really funny and sweet.
er not Sandy, Stacy.
The Fashion Club was one of the most realistic portrayals of female friendship in western media
So sad and so true
The one that tried sports to prove she could do it if she wanted to. Wanted to be an artist instead. Frick yeah, just like me!
Mystik Spiral is only together because they all find themselves in the same places at the same time.
lies and slander
well I didn't mean it in insult. It's just part of their whole thing. If they were like, responsible, they would sound different
then again I guess I don't really like their music either. It's that weird kinda talk-singing most of the time.
Trent and Jane both seem a lot more emotionally stable than their older siblings or parents.
Of those two, ehhhh, I guess Jane in the long run if only because she seems more likely to accidentally blunder her way into being successful.
no matter what, she will make a killing at local craft fairs selling her wares
easy!
Didn't Jane have an online store in one episode that the rest of her family hijacked and ruined by loading it down with their own stuff?
I think so. It was an """"ebay"""" store page. I couldn't tell you which episode without digging out the box set.
that doesn't sound familiar...
not at all, the only time I remember extended family of the Lanes doing stuff was at the family reunion
That might have been a MTV.com thing rather than on the show now that I think about it.
Yeah, that was from the episode Psycho Therapy.
Jane could always do something like nude artstreams and male a ton of money.
remember when she did a live webcam site thing and she's like "all Jane, all the time... except naked time." and everyone collectively whined because that's the best part!
God that old internet was wild and free.
we just gonna memory hole episodes that dont exist?
okay then
arthoe streams sounds like a great idea
>Trent may be a slacker but knew how to collab with other artists, network, and socialize,
No he couldn't. There's literally an entire episode about how he sucks at this and it's the final nail in the coffin of his and Daria's potential relationship.
I wish media literacy wasn't so fricking dead.
>Jane's art, meanwhile, was good enough to be sold as knockoffs.
frick I've forgotten
I need to binge the series again, it is fall after all
wish some anon was gung ho enough to set up a watch party of Daria
Also I don't have a pic related for that episode.
>brittany just casually breastmogging daria
Reminds me i drew this a few years ago.
Got any Quinn drawings?
Nope.
hella cute
I find most of it still holds up. obviously we have new and different problems now
Check
. Brittney might still be bigger, but not by all that much, and it might even just be down to her wearing a tight shirt which shows them off.
Yeah I still think britneys bustier. Think about it like this. You ever see a girl who's boobs are far apart but not particularly large? I think that's what's going on with Daria. Its not about shirt tightness. Britney and daria wear the same gym clothes and they're clearly different sizes.
Also these clearly aren't scaled together. For one Daria is IN the Britney picture and she clearly looks smaller than the one on the left.
I wonder if there's a profile shot when Daria is in Quinn-mode.
Can Britney stop putting her boobs right into Daria's face... Those two really tried to get Daria into a threesome.
I think Brittney is more dismissive of Daria and Jane. Like "oh it's you..." But with her normally bubbly personality. She doesn't seem all that stoked to see them but shes also not gonna tell them to leave.
I remember downloading the Daria collection of fans sound mixing the mid roll, and transition stings back into the DVD quality video. It was a link someone shared from a reddit thread. This was like 5 or so years ago before places of Demonoid died.
why, this is the board allows us to discuss corporation over stepping their boundaries and value into the artistic medium of animation grooming us into being more accepting of plastic surgeries, amassing wealth, and other shallow capitalistic values
I appreciate that Brittney is just canonically stacked. The daria art style isn't all that sexy but it definitely makes her stand out a bit
I wish some anon was gung ho enough to make a Daria mega.
There are links available for both the Daria restoration project and the streaming friendly versions in the archives…
rad! next time I rewatch, I'll check for those. Because it sucks trying to watch on wcostream or something and getting a haphazard mix of low-quality rips of the original unedited versions and unrestored The N airings
how do watch parties work these days anyway, in my day we used synctube
women have the instinct to decorate. the problem is, they're supposed to be decorating their men. because women are also the ones who judge appearances. men don't fricking care.
Didn't Jane just paint a Van Gogh upside down in that episode and that's how the dealer spotted her talent?
painting upside down while laying on your bed because you're to lazy is a talent of sorts
yeah she was doing kind of a cover/remix. I miss when derivative art like that was all the rage
Trent is a fricking disaster, lazy and unmotivated, ambitionless, not even for his own projects. Lane could socialiaze with all kinds of folks and integrate in different spaces if she applied. She was more assertive too.
there's room in the world for slackers who just groove along. but he'd better get profitable at that band, and quick.
Sounds like sour grapes. Slackers are the best kind of people to be around because they wont ever expect much from people in general. They would be right to assert that notion. Slackers keep the world in check.
as long as they aren't openly shilling for handouts, to an extent that is more work than an actual job would be
Trent just has decently wealthy and very hands-off parents.
very true
the same applies with Jane circumstance thou, so you cannot place a value in who used that """"privilege"""" better
so long both are happy in life without making life worse for anyone else, that is always the goal to coexistence
Jane's working a lot harder on her art, but I think more importantly she ends up going to college. I seem to recall Daria having to talk her into it, though. So she was considering just being an uneducated slacker artist for a while and potentially starving later.
Instead she got to rack up severe debt! woo!
going to school for art was always going to be a gamble because services with objective value in the business world's eyes
the writer's strike and actor's guild is proof of that
eh let's not pretend any of that is about the marketable value of skills.
If anyone complains, calls it offensive, tell them "Sorry, we tried your thing. tanked the industry. better luck next ideology."
I rather support the workers over AI slop
you cant blame anyone for watching AI slop because it is objectively bad for just recycling troupes anyway
which makes more money for the wealthy already
you eat the rich anon, they are not really human
>gibs me dat
>for realz my nigs
Jane's Art Camp in the movie was a redpill.
this
art serves the artist, not the people unless they see value in it
you cannot expect people to love whatever is made from someone and be satisfied
art schools where you pay for admission instead of being accepted through your talent and skill is expensive day care for the rich and horny
yeah but how does that tie in with what I was saying?
Was there a subplot in that episode I missed?
>Was there a subplot in that episode I missed?
lol yes, it pretty much the running theme of the show when it comes to creatives as both Daria and Jane are that
oh well yeah, i mean that's a constant message about education. I just didn't notice that in the art camp episode. I need to rewatch again.
Sometimes I feel like I should have gone to performing arts school instead of working a drudge of a job until it burned me out, but I'm also happy to still be hetero, so
Ok I admit it. Slackers are kino.
Trent's a burnout who's one of those people that's going to work at a fricking record store for the rest of his life.
Jane actually has potential
Sounds like both will be happy. 🙂
He'd be the best fricking record store employee ever. He'd be like that guy on That 70s Show that Chong played.
also am I the only one that, once in a while, not all the time, imagines kind of a The Dreamers situation going on with jane and trent?
Between Trent and Jane, Jane had more talent and a greater chance at a successful art career.
Out of all the Lanes, I envied the dad. He was a world-traveling photographer who could afford to raise a crap ton of kids and give his daughter enough money for art supplies. Wish I could do that.
yeah there's something to that, but I still want to actually be with, and enjoy being around, all those kids. Instead of them all being hellions and the two slackers are actually the best ones.
that is a good look for her.
lol old land ownership values is the other side, matey. our side is industry.
yknow the annoying thing about a show about two friends where a bunch of people ship them, is you can't discuss fun awkward FRIEND moments between them without people going too sexual with it and ruining it.
The movie special "Is it Fall Yet" put Jane into the situation to experiment and the misread signs scene was actually not cringe.
uh huh
that movie was about a predatory situational dyke bawd, and how those people try to confuse you and make you secondguess your own feelings
sharing nudity is just fun for everyone.
which is the challenge of writing it realistically. Making it hinge around her caring about Jane's needs helps. and you know, getting in touch with letting go of ridiculous hangups
models cost a lot of money. She could be in a bind
also this. could have jokey joke joke value. Or Daria would assume at the start that's what it was.
I feel like a lot of you don't remember how the 2000s felt. how free friends were with each other on webcam.
>sharing nudity is just fun for everyone.
sounds like more predatory behavior through coercion of peer pressure
no means no chud
anon nobody is going to get your sarcasm.
I cant lay it on any thicker, I was already typing in lower case. How else would I interpret?!
>2000s felt. how free friends were with each other on webcam.
I was nowhere neer the level of Internet let alone web cams in 2000.
yeah
webcams did not start to get good till like the mid aughts
that's not the point!~ we did it anyway. and those grainy, low-framerate feeds represented liberty.
a liberty for degeneracy and exploitation!
i'm gonna need you to get off of Cinemaphile
There is 0% chance Daria would do that. She’d have to be coaxed and bribed to model at all even with clothes (probably with pizza and she’d negotiate something on top of that) but nude…definitely not in her character for the show.
heh. reminds me a little of that one time I drew them...
there was one once! with like, the high quality versions but the original music spliced in. I downloaded it but something got corrupted in a backup and I lost part of it, so I just deleted it.
Damnit. If I could turn back time...if I could find a way.
>Jane needing Daria to pose nude for her is extremely fun on so many levels
Except it wouldn't happen. It wouldn't just be out of character for Daria to do it, it would be out of character for Jane to even ask. If she wanted a nude model, she'd find an actual model. The only reason for that scene to exist would be pure contrivance for the sake of carpetmuching and/or clamjamming.
>it would be out of character for Jane to even ask.
Forgot pic
right
I look elsewhere.
>Sandi
based. the entire fashion club is very frickable. the show also has a few God-tier MILFs and some great background characters. its crazy there isn't more porn.
Quinn is pretty frickable.
Oh man, I remember her. The one off characters were remarkably sexy.
Her mom is hotter
Plenty of hot moms in the show but I think Helen might be the hottest
Based
she was super hot
honestly all the adult women in the show were more or less attractive
>honestly all the adult women in the show were more or less attractive
I need to make a webm of this scene
For me it's Amy
God the things I'd do to her. The things she'd do to me.
>Barksdale sisters are canonically tigers in bedroom
As they were portrayed in the show? Neither. If the writers wanted to give them love interests, they should have been similarly outcast people. It actually made sense that Tom dogged Jane with Daria and ended up leaving her too. But seriously, if you look closely at Daria and Jane you begin to understand why everyone chases the Brittany's. Daria's and Jane's are sour, unpleasable b***hes. Brittany's are ditzy but cute and usually pleasant.
C'mon Daria let me paint you naked
>No.
(Real low)
I believe in Burnout Girl supremacy.
I'll always be thankful the show ended production before 9/11 so we were spared any of that bullshit.
it's incredible how many great animated series existed in 2000 that absolutely couldn't, afterward.
Daria rarely entertains outright conspiracies but she also rarely overextends her interest in a topic outside of how her peers treat her.
why are you imagining that
nice digits
Should have kept this outfit.
to hot
especially for Jane Lane
she would never feed the male gaze
She wears lipstick.
thats to hide the collagen injections see did for Tom
Which reminds season 1 episode 9 "Too cute" revolvs around Quinn and Daria talking about breast implants. Obviously they didn't, and they episode even goes out of it's eay to tell you the girl who did get surgery ended up popping and ruining her.
But imagine a bizzaro universe Daria and Quinn got breast implants and the whole show they're walking around big fake breasts.
It's in-character that Daria never objects that she actually already has pretty nice breasts.
certainly a better episode that explains that topic than the creepy brace face shit I remember disney pushing
In the words of my mom
"Makeup isn't just for guys. Sometimes we like to just feel pretty."
Still don't get it but ok.
She wore this to the beach.
You got something against casual beach ware anon?
Gotta go with Jane. As a wasteoid artist myself I feel like I can relate to her. Plus I like her voice.
good thread tbh
That is a cute daria
Daria is always cute
>tfw no Daria gf apathetically roleplaying as a suplent cheerleader for you
damn right she is
Daria is,dare I say, CUTE.
bump
god bless
very nice. this is the kind of build I like.
and I like her hair interpreted this way, it's kinda hard sometimes to tell what it really is..
Damn, bro. Nice.
What was this
https://twitter.com/OchikondaPotato/status/1504469139015962626
eh
an image of daria and jane clinking glasses
guess that's no good for Yanni though
I prefer Quinn.
well someone has to...
Imagine going on a date with Quinn.
I imagine a lot of time talking to myself while she stares into her own reflection in the glass of free ice water. A waste of time, money, and effort. She'll make a great trophy wife one day to someone.
I'd still do it.
how well has this show aged? want to watch it
It's very dated but still holds up
It's comfy.
it is dated, but its a genuine comfy show
not nearly as mean spirited as people make it out to be
of course that was one of the weaker points of the show; is it not having any real teeth
i think it was exactly the right kind of harsh. It said with a pretty strong spine "people are dicks and treat smart people like shit, but they're also just doing what they think is normal and you can't blame them too hard. and you can't change them by staying miles away, either"
Millennial shows usually suck ass but Daria is genuinely great. Very funny and very likeable characters (except Daria, but that's the point).
What would sex with Quinn be like?
Depends what you drive
Where you live
Where you vacation house is
If you're already starting bad on the list, it's not looking good
What happens if I get Quinn pregnant?
How would Quinn react to getting pregnant?
>Daaaaad, I need a whole new wardrobe! Six sizes for each thing, I'm not gonna wear a circus tent until I absolutely have to.
Would Jake have another heart attack from Quinn getting pregnant?
outside of wedlock and/or with someone poor? so he's on the hook for all the expense? yes
And how would Helen react?
>Ohhh honeyyyy. Are you sure? You know Aunt Flo can be a little late sometimes, right?"
and again, if it's out of wedlock or with someone too poor to take care of her, she'd just go into lawyer mode and start drawing up plans and by the time Quinn got a word in, she'd already have picked out a preschool
And probably forced me to marry Quinn.
helen and jake would each do that, separately, unaware the other already did.
And how would Daria and Jane react?
snarkcasm!
How about the Fashion club?
>Tiffany
genuine befuddlement as to how babies are made
>Sandy
smotheringly insisting on the baby's entire fashion choices, but just when Quinn thinks "at least she's buying me a lot of what i'll need" it turns out all she provided is a shopping list
>Stacy
bubbling with excitement to the point of speechlessness, but internally so jealous that it actually cranks her libido into overdrive.
Quinn going into labor during fashion club activities.
I don't think they would break what they were doing for a second.
>My water broke!
>Water? Is it lunchtime already?
please look at literally any history. go have a talk with your dad. a long talk.
>please look at literally any history. go have a talk with your dad. a long talk.
ah, no rebuttal
I accept you concession
This ends with Daria and Baby daddy having to drive Quinn to the hospital.
I would.
I'd do it too.
Jane in her cheerleader uniform
How many children would Quinn have?
4-5.
Would she be a decent mom?
For sure. She just needed purpose and more maturity (she gains this one later in the show).
How about if she became a teen mom?
No.
Andrea
>Is that Connie?!
Either is good.
right. Daria would be nice to hang around with, but jane would let you frick her up the ass and smell her feet.
Jane is a fun, laidback, snarky art hoe you could just hang out and trade jibes with
Daria is an autismo
And Quinn?
basic b***h, no thanks
what a tomboy
>varsity jersey number 8
>8 is the number of year george bush jr was in office
>george bush jr was the party leader of the GOP

what about now?
Is a shame Daria guilt tripped Jane into abandoning jogging.
hahahahaha, perfect. The moment I saw Groovy I thought she was a Daria precursor. Maybe that was her cool aunt as a kid... no.. she'd be like in her 50s.
frick thats hilariously accurate
she did abandon varsity jogging, but she kept running throughout the rest of the series for fun
I do get the feeling that they still didnt feel confident enough to make drastic status quo changes at the time, so it ends with the guy she joined the team for bad mouthing daria
and she only joined the team for him, so she left
I get it, still is a shame Jane more social behaviors get dragged by Daria's insistence on being outcast, re-watching the show you see a lot of people being friendly to Daria and her being kind of an butthole before they even do anything.
so in your mind, social behaviors are just good, even if the people around you are terrible.
extroverts dont understand personal space
eh I think most of that is all made up anyway.
that could be try as well
>try
true
extroversion and introversion could be more defined by social group dynamic imbalances as the more comfortable you are in a social group the more open you will be to socialize in one way or another
even just the act of listening to someone's story is inclusion of your time with someone else
what happens when you exclude everyone but yourself? you're a narcissist
exactly. people just gotta match the right people. and some of us.. the people we match aren't as common. so we gotta make do with fewer.
but people who think they NEED a bunch of matches so they try to be as broad-appeal as popular are as moronic as execs who take that attitude toward products.
I mean
Daria gets excluded first, she doesn't exclude strangers upon meeting them. Unless they're dripping with obvious artifice like a lot of the randos that show up in Lawndale.
thats always pretense and daria never approaches the conversation unless she has to
sure but avoiding people because you're near the end of your rope at all times is not the same thing as pre-excluding people. it's just biding your time and waiting for the right moment.
that sounds like a more calculated approach to a conversation than just trying to naturally be curious
but I guess its a interpretation on minding ones business and not just inserting yourself into people's life if not wanted
It is a good lesson at the end of it all and I remember being satisfied on how everyone more or less learned to get out of high school alive and not in jail.
Right? In the end, Lawndale is perhaps inadvertently a picture of late 90s economic success and the inescapable fact that people with more money just live better lives. even the dumber ones end up better educated than they would have.
One mean comment isn't the same as a completely terrible person, if that was the case Daria should be first in the list of terrible people.
look away
I hate it, at the same time, I understand it
Of course she's pissed off here; it was supposed to be green.
For what it's worth, best Daria thread in years for me. At least most active in genuine discussion.
I dislike when it turns into... well let's not even talk about that. Yes, this has been lovely.
Would like a little more lewd art but i'll take this. Just sincere appreciation and conversation.
Speak of the devil and he shall appear, anon
Cool.
Imagine marrying Quinn.
Imagine getting her pregnant 3 times
so out of the 6 in that generation only 1 reproduced and had 3 kids at once
Ok, actual question. Is Daria's hair supposed to be brunette, redish brown, or dark redhead?
cherrywood. a rich brown that is full of red notes. Typical middle-of-the-road brown hair is a dark orange, but hers is a dark red-orange. My mom's hair is like, halfway to there. that's actually well-noticed, since her dad has lightish medium brown hair, her mom has auburn, and sister ended up fully ginger.
I always thought her a brunette
Dark red or auburn. Probably why they switched her outfit to green for the spinoff.
Anon, those are triplets! It had to be a hard time on her.
Redish Brown is the best descriptor. She's on the red-head scale but not a full-on ginger.
the only one I remember was the one where she's wearing a snuggy. remember snuggies?

Have this nugget from the first 5 minutes
>05:29:34 PM> MODMSG hodaddy8:daria - is jane a lesbian? and if so, does that make you a lesbian?
>05:29:44 PM> mtvdaria:I don't know. Give me a big kiss, and we'll find out.
>05:30:02 PM> MODMSG lennonchik:Jane, you're my kindred spirit, first of all. but how do you manage to stay so confident all the time?
>05:30:11 PM> mtvjane:I don't know any better
>05:30:37 PM> mtvjane:But now you just made me feel very insecure
that is pitch-perfect.
Have another bit of the log
>05:31:26 PM> MODMSG quinnsfan2000:what does Quinn do in her spare time?
>05:31:36 PM> mtvquinn:I clean up all the erase marks in my datebook.
>05:31:51 PM> MODMSG johanney1:Jane, does it bother yout that obviously everyone is so obsessed with you being a lesbian, when you're obviously not?
>05:32:17 PM> mtvjane:Obviously it doesn't obviously bother me one obvious bit
>05:32:29 PM> MODMSG electricpickle:Are you really a brunette, Daria?
Oh but you're talking about.. right, archiving episodes and sharing files, yeah. that shit. no business WANTS to crush that, lawyers force them to. fricking lawyers.
that TV guide is so nostalgic
I feel like I'm there
>Dr. Katz
frick year
That's crazy, I remember reading the blog in the late 90's and she had a post where she was voting for kerry instead of W
>Daria, Jane, and Trent are all single or dating around
>38 years old
>still "dating around"
NGMI
>Using Quinn's head as a flshlight
I love that she now has her own joey, jeffy, and jamie.
and no husband to be seen
That just means she married someone who wasn't in the show.
After the optimistic ending of the show's finale, Daria being a bitter-looking cat lady in fricking New York City is a big downer. Jane also looks like she's twice her actual age.
Brittney and Kevin unironically won.
>Daria turning into Tina Fey
Yes please
This makes me think Trent and Daria should have found a way to make it work. Seems like they both end up alone and in mediocrity. Trent lacks motivation and ambition besides playing music but that’s not really a downside of Daria also ends up a loser.
speaking of hair, I was always able to take Trent more seriously as legitimately having hair that dark, Jane's always looked dyed to me. Maybe because her eyes are lighter and her skin is like, a hair lighter than his (despite presumably getting a lot more sun than Trent ever does). it doesn't feel like she'd have the genes for jet black hair.
Has the "Daria is a b***h" circlejerk finally ended? It's about time.
This is the best Daria thread I've ever seen. So many years of people going
>ACTUALLY she's an butthole
as if the show wasn't overtly about her coming to terms with her feelings of alienation and insecurity.
One of the few good female centric animated shows that isn't an anime or french.
Isn't Misery Chick early on? I think that at least engaged with the idea that Daria doesn't want to be unhappy or abrasive.
Yes, it's the last episode of the first season. I think it's the only episode of that season to touch on it, and I don't know the next time it came out. The idea IS there from early on, but it rarely worked on it.
I want to cuddle with Quinn.
Name a character with more powerlevel
You need to be at least this centered and unsimping for her to give you a chance.
Good thing I don't simp.
I say this about everything, but doesn't it grind your gears that all the rule 34 of Daria is so grotesque and nasty, none of it sweet or remotely believable for the characters
I just want some good Quinn rule 34.
we need some daria x brittany art
we do, better get to requesting in the draw threads!
>daria x brittany art
Hot off the presses.
Draw both with massive boobies but this body please.
>someone actually answered my request
you are a lord amongst men
and its cute too
heard it all in their voices
Super nice, I really like this pairing.
>steal tom from jane and ends poorly
>but now she steals brittany from kevin, still unintentionally
>but this time it all works out
>and kevin getting cucked is actually funny
I don't think Kevin could even register he is getting cucked.
>"I can't believe you're going out with that Brain instead of me. The QB. Besides you're both chicks."
>"Wake up Kevvy. Its the 90s. Girls can have girlfriends too!"
>"So...does that mean I get to watch you two make out?"
>"Ooooooh!"
Girls hiding away hot bods is one of my thousands of sexual fetishes
nice
Downer girl and Cheerful girl are always a nice pairing.
>Daria says "frick it" and finally uses her amazing rack to get things from people
>Wow, Daria, your boobs are amazing!
>Thanks, Brittany. Say, did you know that two girls can sex together?
>Whaaaat?
Daria has a crisis in faith when she realized she and Kevin aren't that different when taste in women is concerned.
Love her boobies.
Dairy-ia
The show barely has rule 34 in general.
What kind of underwear do Daria and Jane wear
Daria wears whatever is cheap and comfortable.
Jane, what underwear?
Daria - regular, run of the mill panties.
Jane - whatever is clean or nothing.
How about Quinn?
Whatever's fashionable obviously.
I like to think Daria goes commando for hygienic reasons as well as because underwear is an idiotic thing invented to sell cloth, but realistically she's got boring granny panties.
Jane probably alternates between thongs, lacey lingerie, and boxers. Possibly at random.
honestly kinda hard to imagine in-character sex from her. I'm the biggest hebe around, but Quinn feels decidedly... unready for sex.
She strikes me as the kinda girl who's given a handjob or, at worst, a BJ.
>Quinn feels decidedly... unready for sex.
>To me she seems like the type who has, to herself, stated that the furthest she's ever going to go is a handy.
>Like okay, you got your orgasm, thanks for dinner, you can leave now. but in practice has never had to do that.
Yes, that sounds very accurate, anon. Good thing porn isn't about accuracy. I wanna see Quinn get fricked.
heh yeah you can do whatever you want in porn
I just wish we had some more incharacter stuff too.
I mean, I wish we had any porn at all.
when I was a younger and hornier anon
you could only find scraps of Daria pron, and it was only by chance if your favorite artist was in whatever erotic artist web ring was commissioned or felt like drawing
Wow you sound old
It will happen to you.
Yeah, I know... I'm gonna be 25 in a few months.
it is what it is
Kindred Spirits will now remember Johnny's Frick Tour by that guy who pretended to be Johnny Bravo and requested artists draw him fricking any cartoon girl.
decently in character!
aw cute! I could see her just innocently wanting to check her out, too. or just helping her out of her jacket when it's hot or something.
tragically, nudity has never been fashionable.
we get some! paheal will show you the way
remember that one guy with that distinctive kinda-anime style who drew so much daria fan comics and stuff, and like 18 years later was still doing it in the exact same style
>remember that one guy with that distinctive kinda-anime style who drew so much daria fan comics and stuff, and like 18 years later was still doing it in the exact same style
lol
does it still exist? and if it does, did he improve?
Artist was Saiyaman, looked it up
I was gonna say he hasn't gotten better, but going by his recent TMNT stuff, he's gotten worse.
>remember that one guy with that distinctive kinda-anime style who drew so much daria fan comics and stuff
Oh, right. He was named after a Dragon Ball character I think.
It's actually weirdly impressive if a person could draw for decades and not manage to progress artistically even if by sheer accident.
some uploads: Daria CBS Early Show Inte(...).webm
Sealed with a Kick (MTV's Daria Unaired Pilot)
I've got a few Daria novelties like that, but most of them are copies of transcripts from events (like the Daria voicemails from the MTV New Years event.)
I have physical copies of both books but too scared to destroy them to get HD Digital copies.
Daria is weirdly aggressive and spiteful in this.
Seems like it was going for more of a Beavis and Butthead style of humor overall at first.
That entire pilot of Kevin and Daria is how high school actually was.
Wasn't some of this used for another episode?
I never even noticed before that she was making a bong in shop class.
Burnout Girl low key best background girl.
Absolutely.
Why not both?
D cups inherited from her mom
I don't believe I've ever seen a Daria thread ever last this long....
>La la la la la.....
I want to rewatch the show so bad, it pisses me off the Restoration Project won't play on my TV. Not even through Plex.
if you have a smart TV there are guides on youtube to help with that
often comes to downloading a "file explorer" app that allows you to detect any file and you'll need to make sure if the smart TV's base media player will play the files
you then will probably need to download a new movie player
its doable
>often comes to downloading a "file explorer" app that allows you to detect any file and you'll need to make sure if the smart TV's base media player will play the files
>you then will probably need to download a new movie player
I don't think Roku has any other media players. And again, I couldn't even play it from my computer through Plex. I have no idea what the problem is. I think the videos need to be completely reconverted, and idk if it's worth the effort.
the problem is relying on your TV to act as a computer, when these "smart" TVs can barely even function as phones-pretending-to-be-computers. All they know is play ads, redundant menus, ignoring key TV options in sai dmenus, have bad color balance, eat hot chip, and spy
What the frick kind of video files are they that's so much trouble?
I think they're just mkv. But something about the way they're encoded or something doesn't work. Idk, I don't know tech shit. I think someone said the issue is that it's vp9.
Is there a list anywhere that tells what songs played in Daria?
Of course. Outpost Daria. Google Daria episode song list. It's literally the first result.
From the top of my head, I remember Everlong and Paranoid Android (or was it No Surprises?)
Right. ALWAYS right.
Dr. Katz was so funny in that dry wit way that seems extinct today because sarcasm would be implying to much of the bad thing you are referencing. Merely mentioning an awful act in jest because you know it's wrong it forbidden and triggering. The stupid and ignorant should never of had access of the internet.
But that is where the money is...
when they were building all that shitty phonernet social media garbage, they should have put it on a separate internet. not accessible to or from ours.
in fairness though I didn't really 'get' dr. katz when I was younger. it's a little TOO dry most of the time.also, it's hard to be sarcastic when nothing is so ludicrous that it can't be real/intentional now
this has been known about for a while
it doesnt matter how much you show daria is alienating herself from society by being a cynical, smartmouth, she is the main character and she makes it look cool
so you cant not tell people to do something, because they will do it anyways
and sarcasm itself has supposedly reached its limit with the rise of the new sincerity and is being looked down on as a weak form of detached irony (though i dont agree with that and would rather have sarcastic smartasses from now till the end of time, you cant deny the zeitgeist)
denying the zeitgeist is your duty as a geist, mein freund.

I'd do anything to worship Quinn's feet and ass. She had the best arc in the series too.
>worship Quinn's ass
based. I'm glad this board has so many Quinn chads. She's so hot and absolutely my favorite character in the series in general.
Is there a way to watch these shows with the original sound track with licensed songs from the time instead of the DVD release with them edited out?
You'd have to google Daria Restoration project. There is also a document listing all the licensed music floating around somewhere.

My highschool sweetheart was a mix of Brittany and the girl in the fashion club who cried all the time
Tiffany's the GOAT
I can also hear all of their voices
They would not be allowed to have a racial minority be the comically stupid one these days.
She was probably only Asian exactly because some butthole said the show needed more minorities.
If it is the latter case, that person is extremely based
Maybe they just wanted to make her Asian. It's not that deep. Sometimes when you're an artist you're just like "oh hey maybe I'll make this one tall or brunette or Asian. I doubt they thought about it for more than 5 minutes.
ehhh you're allowed to make asians ditzy, just like how you need to make black kids turbo nerds. they only care about violating preconceptions, not about actual equality or anything.
well, back then anyway. these days, sadly no. even I have been unable to stop looking at people and thinking about their race non-stop.

You think Quinn has a bush?
definitely not. painful self-waxing daily.
How big are Quinn's breasts? Is she a C cup?
I don't think so, they just look huge on her because she's a stick who has celery for lunch
So Quinn has an eating disorder?
they all do.
You think Quinn's lost teeth from her eating disorder?
nah
You sure are inquisitive, anon.
I mean women with eating disorders have tons of health problems.
they sure do eventually
So when would Quinn start experiencing health problems from her eating disorder.
eventually, if she continues.
are you okay anon?
Yes I am very much okay. I just want to waifu Quinn.

Is there any episode where Britanny didn't wear her cheerleader costume? how did her boobs looked in it?
>Is there any episode where Britanny didn't wear her cheerleader costume
The dance episode
They look pretty close to the same size but Brittany's smaller waist makes her bust look bigger.
I'm working with crap image sources but I think I got the scale right (Brittany is slightly taller than Daria); Brittany's clearly at least twice as large.
That's about what I thought. Not that I mind. Asymmetrical breast sizes is my jam.
Brittany is the master race girl. Tall, super fit and thin, beautiful aryan blonde with blue eyes, majestic hypnotic divine breasts.
I do not like the armchair psychology, preformed on a buncha exaggerated cartoon characters like our logic can 1-to-1 be applied on them.
it's.. overdone, for sure. but a mature show like this with complex writing is kind of asking for a LITTLE analysis. as long as you don't go overboard with it and forget it's a show.
Black, season 5 spends a lot of time doing exactly that to Daria.
and it was kind of uncomfortable, so he has a point.
Yeah I'd prefer if we could just talk about the show and characters without treating them like real people. I have no idea why anons are speculating over a 14 year old's cup size, its very odd.
it wasn't odd when you were 14, why would it be odd now?
What? I wasn't watching Daria when I was 14. I wasn't speculating anybody's cup size when a 14, let alone fictional characters. Who gives a frick?
Well, what I need you to understand is that you're a freak. You don't have to be ashamed of it or anything, but you can't go calling us weird. It's not even an issue of majority (though we do have that here), a functional person behaves as we are. I don't know what happened to you, late bloomer, overly restrictive upbringing, whatever, but... this is what humans do. we wonder how big breasts are, and we project onto cartoons, toys, whatever we can pareidolize into a person.
>I wasn't speculating anybody's cup size when a 14, let alone fictional characters.
so you like men, which is fine
Isn't Daria a senior? I think the whole series is only one year.
I was referring to Quinn.
So it's okay to speculate about a 16-year-old's breasts
You know they're the same breasts, right? They might change size, but... well, that falls under 'speculating on tit size' so you can't answer without participating.
it's really not...
Speculating about any fictional character's cup size is strange. You're all freaks.
where do you think you are?
We've been wondering about Daria and Brittany's breasts, not Quinn's.
Quinn is clearly a B-cup.
yeah those are definite Bs. she's just a little slip of a thing, so they look bigger. remember cup size is based on inches of protrusion from the underlying breastbone and whatever other meats you got on there, so.. kinda like dick size, you can reach deeper if you want, but the end result is how far it sticks out.
oh wow, you're actually sucked into that. please, please look into.. like, anything in history on any subject. look into the people you're listening to.
>Then Quinn would have been in 9th grade and not in the same school.
No idea where you're from but high schools being 9th grade to 12th is the common standard in the US.
i just couldn't count
i meant 8th
point is they're two years apart, so if they did 2 and a half years at Lawndale High, then Daria couldn't be graduating at the end but Quinn being there at the beginning. so it had to be 2 years or less.
I don't think Daria and Quinn are exactly 2 years apart, but like 1.5 years. So if they have birthdays at the right time of year, they could appear to be two years apart but only a grade apart.
What
is the intent.
/co/VIN!
This episode made me feel some things
Why does this pic remind me of the smell of banana bread?
my only guess is the amyl acetate in the familiar banana smell is also found in New Skin liquid bandage, which you might have had put on you when you went to urgent care with bad scrapes or something
I don't think the thread will be up in the morning, so thanks for the comfy Daria thread anons.
Hope we can do it again sometime.
yar, good times had by all
what a good Daria thread
Thank you
I want to see Daria naked
