It's ok to say it was never funny to begin with anon. I don't know why people struggle with this concept these days. As a young child I was able recognize Frank Caliendo and other one trick ponies of various ilks weren't actually funny despite my appreciation of their shtick. Of course later I found out professional comics were well aware of these things as well and able to identify this stuff. Some stuff I was into when I was a young kid, I can recognize wasn't actually that funny even within the context of the zeitgeist. Also someone can be unfunny, but an actual talented stand up. Bill Hicks is a great example. He was an incredibly funny guy that for whatever reason decided not to be funny on stage. He HAD funny jokes. If you can find any rare recordings of his road shows he fricking killed and it was relatively apolitical. He was ahead of his time. Just for some reason when the specials came around he decided to be pretentious or lame. Anyways, point is. It's ok to look back and something and be like man my taste was shit.
