Disney is ramping up executive meddling in all its projects so it doesn't matter who directs them at this point. They will appoint a director just to give the illusion that the film is the product of some kind of artistic vision rather than a committee of empty suits.
I have an idea.
Disney should let literally anyone make a Star Wars movie. No rules. Disney can collect their fricking royalties. Not a single sane human gives a shit about canon so drop the pretense and let everyone believe whatever headcanon they want. Total anarchy.
I'm a big public domain guy but I'll take what I can get in this hellscape of "intellectual property rights".
There's supposed to be a lot of very famous characters like King Kong, Superman and Batman becoming public domain in the next decade assuming something doesn't change
>Under US law, works introduced before 1978 enter the public domain 95 years after they were first published, officially taking effect the following Jan. 1. >Superman would enter the public domain on Jan. 1, 2034. >Batman on Jan. 1, 2035. >Wonder Woman on Jan. 1, 2037. >Star Wars on Jan. 1, 2072
tick tock tick tock.
Make your own space opera. Star Wars has been run into the ground. So many of these new directors who show promise get roped into the corporate sequel or franchise machine and never recover.
This is how it has always been. >Frickin bards never sing any ballads about anybody other than goddamn King Arthur! I'm sick of it! >Nobody is going to see your play because it doesn't have Zeus in it or any of the other gods. Fricking togashit.
some people say the film is good some say its trash
all i know is the vfx seems great for the budget they have
capeshit could learn from japs about budget management
Japs are the only ppl capable if writing classic hero stories. That's why anime is so popular, it's classic heroic adventures.
The west has been taken over by marxist subversion. Marxism is the opposite of classic.
>He wanted to become a filmmaker after watching Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind >Started his career as a VFX artist
For someone with such a background, working on Star Wars would certainly be the biggest dream.
He's just expressing his hopes, and I don't think he really believes it will come true.
I'm sure there are filmmakers all over the world who feel the same way.

by david duke
You joke but at this point its such a shitshow I can't see how anything could possibly hurt the "brand".
There's supposed to be a lot of very famous characters like King Kong, Superman and Batman becoming public domain in the next decade assuming something doesn't change
The thought of DC comics losing their two big IPs is awesome but something will probably change. It always does.

This. Star Wars is the kiss of death for your career.
>Make your own space opera
If he did that nobody would go see it because it doesn't have [BRAND NAME (c) 2024] on the poster.
This is how it has always been.

Let him freaking cook
Japs are still under the impression that Star Wars is some sort of hallowed Americana. They don't realize how thoroughly raped it is.
Why spoil it for them then?
some people say the film is good some say its trash

Hope he likes the taste of old irish pussy, because KK is not letting anyone near her franchise without a good muff dive.
Good luck to him dealing with all the identity politics if he gets the job
Oh no
Not a director that wants to make a Star Wars movie AFTER making zilla.
....and that's the extent of my sarcasm.
>His first directorial film is a heartwarming scifi action about a boy and a robot.
PhantomMenacebros...
We are back.
Cook what op ?
He thinks Disney will let him explore people like he does with Japs?
He's just expressing his hopes, and I don't think he really believes it will come true.

Watch him make one in Japan for 55M. Shot for shot copy of Hidden Fortress.
