>Let me tell ya, this scene is VERY unrealistic. If a mob boss was seen wearing THAT shirt with THOSE shorts while feeding his ducks in real life, he woulda been clipped, chopped up and fed to the alligators right on the spot.
You don't get away with something like this in that life.

I tend to care about the creators insights. The most insight I got into the Sopranos came from David Chase's mouth

this. don't EVER EVER rat out the mafia (unless you want to avoid prison and make a ton of money selling your story)

considering the REAL mob hardly even whacks people anymore, I doubt it.
He doesn't know what he's talking about. Definitely not more than the actual former mobster's they had on the show like Tony Sirico.

Franzese and the others performing this stint do so in the interest of the mob. They're meant to give off the impression to the public that the mafia is dead and all that's left are these washed out has-beens when in reality the five families are still very much alive and kicking and committing all kinds of crimes.

the moved almost entirely over to white collar crimes now, haven't they though?

Yes, white collar crime has become far more important compared to some of their traditional rackets. But they're also pushing drugs and such, every criminal organization wants a piece of that pie.

          >in reality the five families are still very much alive and kicking and committing all kinds of crimes.
Source on this? Genuinely curious, unless you’re just talking out your ass.

The mob is successfully keeping a low profile these days, but you should've caught some of the news. For instance read up on Frank Cali, mob boss who got killed by a Qtard during Trump's presidency. Had his fingers in countless pies and lots of connections to the old country allowing him to act across international borders, and he didn't even head the most powerful of the families either.

He was a captain in a five families crew. He conceptualised and executed a fuel scam that ran through counties. Tony Sirico wasn't even made.
The real question is, why do we turn to major criminals for entertainment? Why are they being glorified? Is it because capitalism needs to market itself? Money, power over everything, "take care if my family and let everyone go frick themselves AND YOU WOULD DO THE SAME"?

Kind of funny how bunch of Mafiosos became youtubers decades later. Him, Sammy the Bull, bunch of other less famous ones.

That said, when it comes to Mafia I only care about Roy DeMeo crew (I doubt Murder Machine will get adapted, probably too brutal) or old pre WW2 stuff.

Yeah it really bothered me as well how 90% of all their criminal activities were almost comically out in the open and poorly executed.

If I had to also bring up another nitpick it's how nobody in the show knows how to fire a fricking gun and they do that 80's/90's thing where they shove it at their target while emptying the entire clip with one hand. Like when they kill Mikey at the end of Season 1.

Because they hire nogs, Irish, and wops to do their dirty work for them. People romanticize the criminals that get their hands dirty themselves. Hence why people like Tony Soprano, say what you will about his vices but he was never afraid to take matters into his hands like garroting that FBI informant and beating Coco half to death for sexually harassing Meadow

Why would the israeli mob make a film about themselves?
