What made Adventure Time great was how creative the artist could be because it was board driven. I'd just make a new show set in the same world just thousands of years into the future and let artist get weird with ideas.
The only people who would want to reboot AT are the people unhappy with the direction it took and probably want to be more about Finn's sily adventures. I am content with the direction so I don't really see much point with the reboot. I would change some things to wrap up many unsatisfactory plotlines like Orgalorg and Fire Princess better, but I wouldn't really change anything about the show's mood or style so it would be more of the same thing but slightly different. I guess I'd give Marceline and Ice King more prominence in the stories because they always were the best characters but somewhat underutilized, especially Marceline.
I started writing a whole fanfiction based on this, basically I'd only wanna change Simon/Ice Kings story, starting at the episode with Bella Noche, where instead of Simon coming back like he's been literally trapped in the crown, it just sucks all his magic away so his body starts to die, but his mind is still ice king
Ultimately, I'd like for the Ice Kings story to somehow come full circle, with him ending up with Magic Betty in the end, the both of them are insane and don't remember who they used to be, but they still love each other and now, with the power of magic, can love each other for eternity

and then just, yknow, let them finish their original season 9 and 10 plan instead of kludging it all together at the last minute.

First thing first, all these useless princesses get the fricking axe, they were always the weakest part of the show even in the early seasons and we don't need more seasons Princess mengele bubbluc**t and cutting/killing her off will remove shippers and her simps out of the equation, Peppermint replaces her as ruler of CK, and now that we're at it, flame princess also has to go, all her eps sucked and we could get another Fire kingdom rep by another character from scratch anyway.
Marceline can stay but everything related to PB has to be eradicated and downplay her backstory Simon, it took over her entire character before PB's relationship did ffs.
Focus on actual funny adventures of a little boy with his magic dog and not some nonsensical lore or shitty same sex relationships, also downplay relationships in general, it should have never gotten a focus in a show like this.

Honestly, agreed. I was directly in the target demographic when these episodes were airing, and they confused/bored/annoyed me back then.
I've even got one specific memory while watching the episode "Hot to the Touch" air for the first time with my godmother, and at 9 years old, saying "I don't like seeing Finns relationship issues."

Rebooting it is acting as if those characters were mine to frick with and that my fanfiction is somehow better than the showrunners. Sending this kid to go kill monsters to keep him busy and fixing him up when pb fixes him up if she underestimates what a human kid can handle. I'd make her and Marcy less stupid, especially in the start they act like dumbasses. Obviously Ice kings story was only decided late so I'd make sure it's canon from the start. Its a show about a kid adventuring in a surreal wasteland that looks cutesy on the surface and monstrous beneath. I'll keep it like that and change everything else. Also any deep lore is made obscure and only conveyed through implications and subtle references

I'd make it a show where Finn, and Jake travel the land going from kingdom to kingdom on adventures. I'd spend a few episodes between each Kingdom on traveling, meeting up with recurring characters, etc, and then a few episodes in each gimmicky Kingdom solving problems and adventuring. Maybe sometimes they'd take down a dungeon. Also they'd pick up party members every now and then who'd stay for a while but never be permanent fixtures.
