It's a good palette cleanser from the time when Star Trek had gotten a bit too ubiquitous as "the face of SciFi". It's like Anti-Trek. But inside all the gonzo moron pythonesque stuff are some really big crazy pure SF ideas that even the best Trek didn't get close to scraping.
The first season is borderline experimental as they try to work out what the frick they're doing... But the first season is also only four episodes long.

Lexx is fricking garbage, interesting concept that rarely got used to its best. The first episode of season 1 is about as good as it gets
S2 is pure shit. The plots endlessly recycle and the jokes aren’t that funny and there’s not enough smut to make up for it all. The best character by far is Kai for his deadpan remarks about what the dead do/feel but it’s not enough to keep watching as the other 3 are charmless
I watched a bit of S3 and it seemed like it was going in the right direction with Prince and the reincarnations. I did hear it eventually devolves into the same stupid repetitive plots again though especially into S4
Watch Farscape instead if you want a comedy sci-fi
It's not that terrible, it had a pretty interesting setting/lore compared to everything else at the time which was incredibly generic.
S1 was pretty garbage, basically 4 pilot episodes and I would skip it but it sets up important back story. That fricking bug bomb malfunction segment being reused several times in the first episode was just annoying
S2 was a mix of good/bad, it was too episodic for my tastes in general but you did get Mantrid out of it
S3 was my favourite, I think it does better as a more 'serious' show than a goofy comedy
S4 was just S2 all over again, the only good episodes were the ones connected to S3 plot lines
The main issue is the episode length, if you get a shit one to watch you are stuck with an hour of boredom
