Watched season 1 a while back, wonderfully fricking odd little show. Cute girls. Was surprised when Rutger Hauer showed up in an episode. Loved the weird nightmare theocracy setting.

Lexx is probably the biggest gulf I've seen between how creative the writers are and how suited the budget it is to realizing their ideas, almost to the point where it loops back around and you can absolutely buy that the weird shit you're seeing on screen actually *does* just happen to look like something you'd make on the cheap.

It’s a lot like Red Dwarf, though more dark comedy and less slapstick. Lister and Girl-Holly even do a cameo episode in S4.
For actual quality, Farscape is a better option

My only (and a giant one) grip with Lexx is that the main characters are annoying as frick. It gets really bad when you try to binge. Also, the episodes are usually resolved in the last five minutes by Kai.
On the other hand, it's just so fun when it comes to world building, especially the two first seasons.

I don't even want to look into it now because the surreality I have in my memory will be diminished by a rewatch.
Season 4 is underrated. Prime Ridge is one of the best episodes in the show.

I have only seen a couple of episodes, but what was the point in making Lexx a fat woman only to suddenly change into a hot woman in the first episode? Was it relevant to any plot / development?
In some of her flashbacks she was willing to be a good and dutiful wife, however she was rejected by her husband because of her fat ugly looks. She then attacked him or something, and was thus arrested and condemned to be a sex slave.
My guess is that it was an attempt at doing "if they don't want me when i'm ugly then i don't want them when i'm beautiful", but it could also be there simply because a german on set had a transformation fetish. Or maybe all sexslaves should be hot and that's the only reason she got transformed, and having a fat ugly actress was for a funny scene.
Lexx is the name of the ship, but yea yea you mean zev. From what I recall she was prisoned and sentenced to be love slave so that's why they changed her into hot gal.
But she didn't get the sex slave brainwashing because something interrupted it. The robot head character got that instead. Also she got some lizard genes or something by accident during the transformation which is sort of plot related later on.
I don't know if any of that makes any sense to you but whatever.
Her new sexooo body gets accidentally mixed with killer worm DNA and the obediant wife programming gets downloaded into the robot head which is primed to fall in love with the first thing it sees which is Xev.

The actor for Stanley was a kind of irreverent working-class everyman, the actor for Kai took things very seriously and solemnly, Zev acted like "one of the guys" and was kind of flirting with the crew, and 790 (who was voiced by one of the show's writers) was a coomer
