I liked the show enough, but it's early cancellation really save it's legacy. The creator b***hed Netflix axed it before he wanted it to end, but I genuinely think that two more years of it would have exposed its flaws even worse.
>early
It was already too long.
It should have ended after season 2 honestly.
Literally the perfect ending before it devolved into emotional torture porn.
Half of it was good, half of it was shit. It was good season -bad season all the way to the end
It's amazing that it lasted that long
Early? It should have ended with the baboon
>picrel
You just know
I wish Bob Camp worked on this show. Maybe it'd look good, then.
I never really "got" the blaming Bojack for Sarah Lynn's death. To me they represented a cycle of abuse that is hard if not impossible to break, Bojak gave advice to Sarah to try and keep her dancing, but he was already broken. Sure it's terrible that he remained with her dead body (iirc) and supplied the dosage, but that's average for drug overdoses. Out of all the things to destroy Bojak over, the very par-the-course drug death seems insane. But maybe that was the point and I missed it.
I never really got into the show, but wasn't there a retcon the next season to try and explicitly make Bojack responsible for her death because the writers didn't like how the audience wasn't blaming him the first time?
IDK, I just remember Sara Lyn jumped off the wagon hard at the first mention of a party and already had a stache of liquor ready to go, meaning she was always a ticking timebomb.
It definitely felt like it came out of nowhere. Also, it wouldn't have been hard for Bojack to bullshit his way out of it.
>why didn't you call an ambulance sooner?
>i was passed out at the time.
the reason they did a bunch of stupid shit is b/c they found out Harvey Weinstein liked their show
Me Too really hurt the show because the writers felt self-conscious and had to make it extra, extra certain that the audience understands that Bojack is a bad guy. The whole reason the show was interesting was because Bojack was a bad guy but we saw how he got there, that it's his fault as well as the people and culture around him. You're not allowed to have that nuance when talking about someone who has a shaky relationship with women post Me Too, so they made it more one dimensional and more boring. It threw away complexity to get a couple of people on TikTok and Twitter to clap.
The last half of season 1 to season 2 remain the series best.
I knew some dudes in the military who were at a party a girl got raped at. Command wanted to know why they didn't do anything to stop it, but they couldn't because they were blackout drunk at the time. The command smoked them anyway.
Moral is that if a person really wanted to blame someone then they won't care what excuse they have.
Kek, now I'm imagining Harvey booting up Netflix after railing out a no-name actress he promised a role if she slept with him and saying "Have you ever seen this show? It's super relatable."
Not the next season but three seasons later, which really makes it seems like bullshit. A point-of-view character has never done anything important off-screen before and suddenly Bojack committed a felony and we didn't see it? Suddenly he's callous enough that he doesn't respond to a person dying as an emergancy? His character concept is that he's an butthole but it's absurd he'd go that far.
Yeah, the next year they made it where she was technically alive for a while as he panicked and didn't know whether he should call for help or not, and her being dead by the time she finally got around to it.
If you were to stand outside of a rehab center and offer drugs to the people coming out the door, would you be confused by people getting pissed off at you? They are all ticking time bombs, so you totally won't be responsible for their actions, right? People blame Bojack for the same reason people would blame you if you did the above. Sarah Lynn was a ticking time bomb, but Bojack bridged the wires and glitched the clock down to 30 seconds.
>tfw Bojack probably would’ve looked like this if we got it thirty years earlier
We were robbed
Because it's "relatable". Really says something about the people who watch Bojak
>relateable
How do you to relate to a wealthy former tv star?
Pic related
>good friends
>goals achieved
>someone who loves you
i only have tea. and someone who loves you if you count family which i don't.
>and someone who loves you if you count family which i don't.
take a week off of porn, there's more kinds of love than just romantic you ungrateful donkey
I have none of those. I'm suicidal but I'm not depressed. I always thought of depression as a meme.
Depression isn't really constant sadness. In reality, it's perpetual boredom, even when doing things that you otherwise enjoy.
>How do you to relate to a wealthy former tv star?
Because his missery has the same consequences as mine. I don't expect fictional characters to mirror my life 1:1. I'm fine with the small things we have in common. I feel a deepper connection with BoJack than with many real people and I'm a poor, uneducated, low-class friendless NEET yet BoJack feels close to me. I don't expect women or homosexuals to understand so it's fine if you're confused.
>tfw no tea or cookies
>you're not depressed, look at all the things you have!
Accomplished people have depression too. It doesn't necessarily stem from not being personally fulfilled.
how the frick can I make normalgays realize that depression is not "when you feel sad" and that having more stuff doesn't fix it
you can't the same way you can't make amerimutts understand why capitalism is bad for them
american society is far from capitalist, it's like most, mixed forms of free marketand government intervention. People see the latter as worse than the former, they are probably correct.
It's because most forms of "depression" talked about on the internet are the "i want *this* kind of attention and I'm not getting it waaah" and not the "complete empty feeling you have when you do ANYTHING"
They relate to being depressed.
The kind that happens even if you have a seemingly good life with no obvious trauma
Because if you've ever been shallow and stupid and hurt someone, or if you've ever felt like you were a worthless, unloveable stupid ugly piece of shit, Bojack can really speak to you. He had everything people could ever want, recognition, wealth without responsibility, and it wasn't enough because he fricking hated himself, and if that's not relatable to you, it's because you're 13 either literally or mentally, and you haven't matured enough to be able to feel the kind of things that show was trying to present and succeeding in presenting
>Sure, I had depression once. Did some exercise, cleared it right up.
Uh, but Bojack taught me exercise doesn't make you happy. Explain that!
>"It gets easier, but you have to do it every day."
bojacks biggest issue comes from viewing life as a show with a status quo and quick fixes, not constant effort.
>bojacks biggest issue comes from viewing life as a show with a status quo and quick fixes
I hear this all the time but when does this actually happen? His dying friend hardly counts because he hadn't seen him in years and the hostile response to his (lame) apology meant they didn't see each other again.
bojack wanted to be this so bad
This show has made an impact on me that I'm still reeling over. It gave me a reverse crisis of faith so frick Dino for that. perfect show tho
and it was way less preachy than bojack despite being a show that had preaching in it.
What's a reverse crisis of faith? It made you more religious? I am curious so please elaborate.
Yeah, pretty much. I'm not sold on Christianity, since most of its core tenets conflict with my personal convictions, but I still look towards the Bible for moral and philosophical guidance, as with other religions and their texts, if any.
My personal faith is developing to say the least.
I love Moral Orel.
>I still look towards the Bible for moral and philosophical guidance
After watching Moral orel?
It's been a while since I watched it but should you have come to the exact opposite conclusion?
Not really. To me, Moral Orel is moreso about how people distort and abuse some of the dogma associated with Christianity to prop up a false image of purity for themselves, when they are actually just terrible people that may or may not have suffered deep trauma to make them that way. It's not just 'Christianity bad'. Orel even keeps his faith at the end of the series despite everything he'd been through. It radiates hope.
Still, I don't blame you for coming to your conclusion - it's understandable. This is just how I see and interpret it.
Also note that religious hypocrisy is condemed in the Bible in the form of the Pharisees.
In the end Orel doesn't lose his faith, but raises his own kids without the abuse and blind dogma. Sure you can say that Christianity as a whole is rotten from the inside, but plenty of people manage to scrape out some decent morals from the whole shitshow.
>Sure you can say that Christianity as a whole is rotten from the inside
*tips*
I mean, teaching kids to be extremely afraid of eternal hellfire if they don't adhere to bronze-age laws is a fast way to load them up with trauma.
While I don't belong to or follow a church I still largely consider myself to be Christian, and Moral Orel really just solidified my belief that it doesn't matter what you believe in as long as you try not to be a shitty person. While I have my chosen beliefs if I died tomorrow and it turned out God didn't exist I wouldn't be disappointed, because at least I used my belief in God to try to be a good person while I was alive, much like Orel did throughout the show.
What went right?
Why do israelites shill this show so much?
the only show that's ever had any good comedy regarding religion
... Do you like any dark shows? Like Moral Orel? Are you asking dumb questions to get replies? It's a cleverly written show that explores dark themes. It's pretty obvious why people like it.
Bojack is an awful person and he's constantly getting fricked both by himself and the world. What's not to like?
Todd, Aaron Paul playing a weak parasite who is somehow morally correct was old before the show started, and having him in the show fatally undercuts anything it tries to do. Todd allowed people to be infected with rabies and denied them treatment. That is either 100x worse than anything Bojack ever dreamed of or a sign that none of this shit actually matters.
I started disliking Todd in the season where everyone abandoned Bojack. His was the flimsiest since Bojack was literally letting him run a business out of his house for free.
based todd proving socialism works making morons seethe years later
and then they made him asexual in the later seasons and had minutes of screentime dedicated to these people no one outside of tumblr gives a flying frick about
>made him
he was always asexual
>you can't be X if you don't know what X is
god save me from the mentally moronic
asexuality isn't real
why are you afraid of people who don't coom and aren't attracted to you?
because most asexuals are whiny straight people and i don't know why i need Bojack to mansplain it to me
Asexuality is something i made up decades ago so i could see naked women in their room because they relaxed around me. It's the new "gay friend".
I can tell you're a Cinemaphile tourist
Correct. This is what happens when a writer/producer is a voice actor.
Yes. They had to change it so that Bojack waited before calling an ambulance so everyone would blame him for Sarah Lynn's death; even though no one in universe did until season 6, including Bojack himself.
Also she had cocaine hidden throughout her house.
Sarah Lynn went into rehab because the high you get after being clean is meant to be amazing. She also required no convincing to do any drug she found and even brought several drugs.
Did you mean Diane instead of PC?
right most dvd looks more like the girl is going in for bojack more than the ice cream
And Phil Hartman's wife could have gotten drugs elsewhere, Andy Dick is still blamed. Actual actions carry more weight than hypothetical might haves. Sarah could have fallen off the wagon at any time, but Bojack pushed her.
I wish mr. Peanutbutter was my husband..
morons like you are why every "adult" animated show is a Family Guy or Rick and Morty clone. No room for prestige television, not even something on the level of an average seinen anime.
Hell even Bojack had to throw in wacky B-plots to distract plebs.
We relate to normal words
If that's the only thing you get out of Bojack, you might be a Bojack.
If you genuinely think there's more than just that to get out of Bojak, you might moronic
t. Bojack
t. moron
>Bro I'm a bad person but instead of not being a bad person I'm gonna feel bad for myself for being a bad person and use that to keep being a bad person forever
Literally frick off
Yes , exactly like in real life
>wow im a bad person…… guess im going to stop being bad right now
Said no one ever and succeded ….. without years of constant transformation
some of these people weren't raised with alcoholics in the family and it shows
>le
Go back.
>le go back
Go back.
>The command smoked them anyway.
>Even though you were horribly intoxicated and had no clue what was going on when it happened, you'll still get punished anyway
How the frick do you expect people who are competely drunk to stop a situation like that? That command sounds like an absolute prick with his head up his ass. Frick him and people like him.
>How the frick do you expect people who are competely drunk to stop a situation like that?
NTA but the justification was probably that they shouldn't have gotten that drunk in the first place. Which is still shitty since if the victim got quietly roofied and taken to a back room at a big party or something you might not notice even if you were sober.
Ever read Terminal Lance? It's just military logic. They encourage marines to be hardcore party guys as part of the Manly Men image, then turn around and punish marines for partying too hard. Odds are their CO isn't a dick, and knows full well it's bullshit, but regulations are regulations.
The dick CO's are the ones obsessed about uniform/grooming standards and look for minor imperfections to frick a soldier over. They are just power-trippers.
Every season from 1-4(prior to the re-writing of the show), Bojack is looking for the next quick fix that will take care of all his problems.
In S1, he's convinced the quick fix is an autobiography to get people to understand the "real" him, then people will like him and he'll be happy. It doesn't work. In S2, he's convinced it's love. Just being in a loving relationship will solve all his problems. It doesn't work. In S3, it's his legacy. If he can just make himself a part of movie history then he'll finally be happy. It doesn't work. In S4, it's about getting closure from his mother. If he can finally tell her how he really feels, then he'll finally be happy. It doesn't work.
They broke that with S5 onwards, but originally that was Bojack's M.O.
That doesn't seem like "viewing life as a show with a status quo", just looking for (relatively) quick fixes.
Season 1 is also more about him falling in love with Diane; that's why he becomes upset about not being a "good person"; she rejects him and won't say he's a good person when he begs her to. He hated Diane's work on his book and refused to allow it to be published so it's not that releasing the book failed to make him loved; he just didn't like that it was unflattering.
In season 2 (not three) he was looking for a more serious artistic acting achivement but he didn't even finsih the movie and it doesn't come out (finished without him) until the last episode of the season. He wants an Oscar for a few episodes in season three but he doesn't get nominated and the story flits off to other things.
Even if he had gotten the book he wanted, and it was as well received, he still wouldn't have been happy. That was kind of the point. He got what he said he wanted, a tell-all book that showed people the real Bojack and made people like him again. It even revived his career. And he was just as miserable at the end of the season as he was at the start. He never really loved Diane either, he just thought he did since he opened up to her more than he ever had before. He was upset about how he looked in the book because he figured she knew him better than anyone else, he said as much in that episode. It wasn't about Diane, it was about Bojack realizing that someone taking an objective outside look at his life would end up painting a rather sad picture.
As for S2, he was only interested in Secretariat as a personal interest, not hoping for fame. The entire reason it was finished without him is because he abandoned it to go chase love in Arizona. S3 had a few other threads going on, but his Oscar chase was the main thread. To the point that he contacts Sarah Lynn to go on his bender immediately after finding out he didn't get the Oscar.
>his Oscar chase was the main thread
Didn't that peter out after three or four episodes?
i'm pretty sure it remained a central plotpoint b/c it was the only thing keeping his manager/girlfriend in the picture. i think bojack's bender with sara lynn comes right after their breakup
>it was the only thing keeping his manager/girlfriend in the picture
Yes, and I recall her being in only a few episodes at the start. Then it did weird one-off episodes about Diane accidently being invited to a party or Bojack thinking he's suspected of murder.
S2 had Chickens, S1 had that entire episode about PC, one-off episodes weren't exactly unexplored territory for the show.. Anna was there to reject Bojack's former co-star from Horsin Around, and episode 10 was all about the announcement and Bojack's party thinking he had won.
nta, but Bojack makes stupid decisions b/c he expects that they will play out like they would on an after-school TV special, where everyone is happy at the end. he simply sucks at predicting what real interactions will be like and is too self-centered to learn how to adapt. his character ultimately changes very little, but the ending does leave hope
what did Princess Carolyn do wrong
>Bojack makes stupid decisions b/c he expects that they will play out like they would on an after-school TV special
Where is it in the show?
the sitcom analogy is probably not the best. he's just blindly idealistic, and that doesn't work well in reality, only in sitcom writing. every story event mentioned previously show that. rarely do sitcom episodes deal with character study, they're extremely formulaic. bojack wants to operate in the world as if characters aren't even a thing, he wants to find plot points to resolve in his own life b/c he thinks it will get him the Full House sitcom ending where everyone is happy and faultless
he's kinda a b***h
>the sitcom analogy is probably not the best
That's my point; if it's trying to do a thing about Bojack taking his past success as a sitcom actor too seriously, it doesn't work all that well.
That sounds more like you taking an issue with the fact you didn't get that plot point. To nearly everyone that saw the show it was blatant clear how naive Bojack was
it's more about Bojack chasing fame but also wanting nobility attached as well. he likes the attention but dislikes that he's only known for being the horse from Horsin' Around. but he's also scared to be known as anything other than that, because that means he has to be seen as an actual person, not as the ideal sitcom dad
bojack's reward circuit has been rerouted so many times by his age
>what did Princess Carolyn do wrong
She kept her cake and ate it too because wamen.
>what did Princess Carolyn do wrong
Forge Bojack's name when he was away handling his mom and Hollyhock
he literally gave her permission to do that
maybe he was intoxicated, but what else do you want your manager to do for you when you're a trainwreck
It was a shitty guy in charge at the time. He also once threatened to charge a guy for supplying a minor with alchohol because a girl he hooked up with at a bar turned out to be a 19 year old who snuck in.
I liked what they did in later seasons like exploring her mom's dementia, but i hated that every time a season was over they just restarted the status quo of bojack situation. It felt like there was no progress despite changes being made
>Destroys your show
Frick Todd and frick PC
>normal words but a pedophile guy who has his father in law pay for his mortgage
at least bojack hasnt fricked kids
>at least bojack hasnt fricked kids
Almost did once
It had some good seasons, then fell apart because they wanted to keep doing the same plots despite all the characters changing.

Bojack is an entertaining piece of shit to see frick up every golden horse he gets.
Imagine having the entire world cater to you, and you still frick it all up?
>Horsin' Around had 9 seasons
>Only 1 Christmas special was produced for Netflix
Missed opportunity. I wish there more one-off episodes of Horsin' Around to watch or a Mr. Peanutbutter's House Christmas special
Because it is good.
I like misery porn, thank you very much.
I like not seeing people be miserable. It helps me not be miserable.
Oh my God! Finally someone comes forward and criticizes that crappy Netflix cartoon. Every is either too brainwashed or too PC to say how bad of an influence and a garbage show BH was.
