Lightyear thread

This film was mediocre, but it's probably still better than 90% of capeshit.

Why the frick did it tank so goddamn hard?

I'm a millenialgay, and I loved the first two films, The Buzz Lightyear of Star Command Show, and the Toy Story 2 videogame on N64.

I really REALLY wanted to like this movie.

Right, you liked Buzz Lightyear the toy, and Buzz Lightyear the cartoon. You never asked for Buzz Lightyear the real guy.

Idk bro. Tell me about your week? I'm a millenial gaming nerd but I never played a fallout game until my sister just showed me how Fallout: New Vegas works. I thought it was boring and stupid that it take 30 headshots to kill most normal characters, but she likes the story.

Hot lesbianism mostly just exists in porn, or as “bisexuals” trying to get attention. Actual committed lesbians are usually woke, and lesbian couples often lose their sex drive.

The lesbianism in that movie is mentioned briefly and in passing. Black woman's gf isn't even a character in the movie, and the homosexuality could be snipped from the movie without even the minimal effort rewriting and rerecording new dialogue or scenes. It's enough to just say black woman had a granddaughter, and that's it.

Homosexuality isn't preventing normies from watching "Everything Everywhere All at Once." I haven't watched capeshit in a while, but they're probably plenty gay, and still successful.

And yet all anyone ever talked about was the lesbian kiss rather than the movie itself, and it was banned in several countries including China. Let that be a lesson next time they try to include gay shit. I say this as someone with a lesbian sister that I support.

        >the homosexuality could be snipped from the movie without even the minimal effort rewriting and rerecording new dialogue or scenes
They literally did that, then the gay employees at Pixar demanded it get put back in because they were seething at Ron DeSantis. From there the gay kiss became basically the only thing people talked about and it bombed.
Social activist employees essentially lost Disney hundreds of millions of dollars, kek. Lasseter would have slapped them down with an iron fist.

I read this and I think about a cringey guy like CGP Grey, an education-tuber and podcaster who is a turbonerd redditor who once made a video that looked like a commercial for reddit advertising it as "the home of anonymous"...

CGP Grey said his expectations for the Hobbit movies were low and he still thought it sucked. I guess he's just a homophone or something.

He might as well have said "much like Shindler's List and American History X, it has a lot to do with bigotry."

It share neither the traits nor tone of the Buzz Lightyear character and movies he was associated with. If it was about a person not named Buzz and with different looks, the movie would have done great.

Don't care, never going to care. Like most millenials I grew up loving Pixar. But I stopped watching their movies after they got totally bought out by Disney. When was that, like 2011? My ex gf made me watch Coco (okay) and Incredibles 2 (pointless). The second I saw the negress in Lightyear's trailer I hit dislike on the vid and forgot it existed. For me, it's not even a matter of "could it have worked?" It's just that I don't give a frick. Forcing the same old diversity shit makes me actively avoid it. No one will remember that this movie exists in like 6 months.

It's those few times when you find yourself in the middle ground.

You highly anticipate/have curiosity for a movie JUST ENOUGH to want to see it, but not quite enough to drive over to the theater.

Obvious unacceptable for a movie you expect to be actually good.

Because nobody gave a shit about the actual Buzz lightyear, a good part of the plot for the first toy story is how buzz the toy realized he wasn't the character and pretty much had to be his own person, with the second movie reinforcing this point, in other words the original source material outright tells you the character wasn't important. This meant when they tried to make a movie about it it was inevitably going to be an uphill battle to sell it. What made it wose is the simple fact that Pixar has pretty much lost its prestige meaning nobody really gives a shit about its new movies anymore, made worse by the fact it looks fricking ugly. All of these factors pretty much guaranteed it bombing to the point that the only time you see people talking about it is when politically charges morons using three seconds of it as an excuse to talk about gays and how its a good/bad thing, in other words they aren't really talking about the movie at all.

      Anonymous

      >Because nobody gave a shit about the actual Buzz lightyear
People keep saying this, but then why was "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command" popular? The movie should have literally just been a reboot of that. They don't even need to come up with any new ideas and it would've still been awesome.

The lesbian scene killed it. My sister always sets up these huge groups of family and friends to see movies, we’re talking like 40+ people because they all have kids. She was planning everything and once there was wind of the the woke shit everyone was like no and we just ended up having a movie night at the rich house instead. We call it the rich house because these people we know have their own movie theater in there house and it’s a fall back if the giant group can’t go to the movies or plans fall through somehow. Also on another funny note that dumbledore movie our fricking huge group walked out of because no one did any research on the woke shit. We even got refunds. A couple of parents were like, “wait is he gay with the other dude? WE’RE LEAVING EVERYONES LEAVING GET UP” lmao
