I have tried multiple times to read comics, but I found I just don't like the medium. I'd much rather have a novel or tv show. Comics are like kinda in between. But books don't make shit for money unless you're a YA author in the 00s or the one in a million tolkien/herbert/cook/mccaffery/grrm/heinlein that manages to break into the mainstream. The only other way to make money writing fictional books is to just shit out cheap romance or horror paperbacks like there is no tomorrow.

It isn't the length of comics, its the medium. It is like a bridge between a visual/audio medium like film or television and an actual imagination medium like reading a real book. I just find that while comics do both, they are subpar compared to the specialized mediums. Its like comics are made for kids that can't handle reading real books yet right, but then generations of kids grow up and when they should start reading and writing books, they hold on to their childhood love of comics. I find books superior to comics and whenever I read a comic I just find myself thinking "I could be reading a book right now instead" and then I do.
