Pojeets die in immense numbers, every illness takes something out of you. A good balance is okay, you dont have to sanitize everything but some hygiene is not making you soft, I always wash my hands after being outside, especially with humans, let alone if I were to spend time with animals, but the movie scene obviously shows a different set of circumstances, in which dirt has some aesthetic value and shows the hardships and at the same time greater enjoyment of the 'luxuries' you can get in such and environment: like beans.

I always cook my beans longer than recommend. And I add some kind of acid while cooking. Lime juice, vinegar, hot sauce, etc. The acid plus the long, slow cooking practically eliminates farts.
