Money.
Also another reason I stopped reading them is because they tend to have different writers for different issues. So you'll have a for example a good story and they will ruin it completely in the next episode.

The moral panic in the 50's about comics resulted in a total gutting of the industry, and they never recovered. It removed a lot of diversity and anything edgy, and only super hero comics survived by being squeaky clean. That had the format of super hero comics just going on FOREVER. Then they got a bit of a revival in the 80's and early 90's thanks to some shakeups, more edgy, and a bunch of tv/film adaptions. By then the "same story forever" format had been going on for like 70 years so no one was gonna stop them at that point. Then they just kept running out of steam for the last 30 years, becoming more and more irrelevant, and then finally the SJW idiots dealt the final blow.
And Marvel/DC made massive amounts post 2000 on their legacy characters, thus they never felt the need to create new ones that mattered.

Difficult enough to not be worth it, especially compared to the other media alternatives.
Even the comics I did read, I can barely remember any of them but I do remember some anon giving us a rundown of the Bat who keks and that thread was way funnier than any comic book itself.

Just Google "one-shot comics" and you'll find plenty of standalone reads.
There is no ending to Spider-man the way there is an ending to an actual book or movie or real story. Just endless continuation, an idea that has begun to infect all other media.
I'm pretty sure episodes came later, well after the fact they were never ending. Used to be there were informal runs where a major writer would do a thing and it was recognized by the audience e.g. the clone saga of Spiderman.
Then Identity Crisis (ft. Sue Dibney rape) happened and blew fresh air into a forever flagging industry to everyone's surprise (this is where I jumped into comics). The companies noticed "mega events" with cross overs were a huge new market pusher and went into them hard because it felt "special" to readers where they might normally ignore a "regular" comic. Also comics started live commenting on modern politics openly and consciously as part of the evens e.g. Marvels civil war episode adopting the political dialog of the Bush Admin. This was cool at first until it eventually got run into the ground, overstayed it's welcome, and became cancer, like all things with too much money and bureaucracy involved. But by this point Marvel movies happened and now we are stuck.
>Identity Crisis (ft. Sue Dibney rape) happened >this is where I jumped into comics
That's quite possibly the worst possible starting point in DC history. >comics started live commenting on modern politics openly and consciously as part of the evens e.g. Marvels Civil War episode adopting the political dialog of the Bush Admin
Unlike comics from the 60s, 70s, and 80s - which famously never commented on civil rights, Vietnam, Nixon, Reagan, AIDS in the gay community etc etc.
I feel like I might like this one but there's 5 TV shows and 3 movies I didn't watch and don't want to so I feel it's best to just let it go. The oversaturation is a real problem when they make everything interconnected. At least for me.
What's the point to a big crossover event that has no major characters in it? SLJ does not move the needle by himself and never has
It should be obvious by now that Marvel made a catastrophic mistake in thinking they could wait a few years to get the X-Men and FF up and running because they now have an entire phase that rests on Disney+ series, Ant-Man, Black Panther's corpse and a bunch of wokeshit characters no one give the slightest frick about and a villain they're going to have to recast because the actor got canceled. All they really had left is Thor and GOTG and they let that homosexual Waititi ruin Thor and GOTG just underwent the dreaded roster change. By the time they make anything respectable again it might already be over
It was over a few years ago and three times as long since the last time Yidney had even the slightest interest in making anything even remotely respectable.
>By the time they make anything respectable again it might already be over
If the mouse uses popular characters for the next xmen movie it will print money guaranteed
checked the first episode but it was really boring and didn't know who the characters were or what they were doing. i guess they are from some other movie or tv show
The shocking character death in the premiere was the no name sidekick that has had zero development for more than a decade and has already "died" before. Capeshit is a fricking joke.
She was also the hottest character on the show and was never given her due. I think they gave her this shit treatment because she was party of Joss Whedon's group
The actress who plays Maria Hill never cared about getting in shape to do fight and action scenes like in the comics and even cut her hair, this kind of shit casting and pathetic characterization is what makes people lose interest in capeshit, Maria Hill is that bad ass female character not a Mary Sue BTW that women would love to see but in the MCU she became a Nick Fury's secretary
nobody is talking about this show
For you to understand the level of the disaster of Secret Invasion, they lost on the Disney plus channel itself for the anime Heavenly Delusion that is one of the best things on TV this year, even better than Silo and From these animes are starting to kill even the big releases of these studios in the streaming and speaking of Heavenly Delusion I can not understand how no one talks about this anime here on /tv it's the most polemic story I've seen in the last years and it's broadcasted on Disneu plus lol

Black Fury has no character personality nothing. He's the Morgan Freeman of Marvel characters "hey everyone look its the black wildcard character". Meanwhile you have emotional comics with white Nick Fury and the Punisher drinking together since they are the only two characters that understand each other well.
>I hate black Fury so much
the problem is not the race, it's the way kevin feige commands everything, maria hill and nick fury are action heroes they are a mixture of ellon hunt, john wick and 007 and they are portrayed in the mcu as characters that only run and get the gun and shoot and that's it, disney pays millions for an IP and the producers come and make shit productions

Grow up and take the punisher skull decal off of your car, manchild
Gunn and Ennis are two soulless edgelords in a pod. Go ahead, post the out of context strip of frank shooting a bunch of Black person gangsters so you can pretend like he's "SO HECKIN ZASED," them go back to Cinemaphile where manchildren like you can share your juvenile theories on the world completely informed from "mature animation"
Crossed might be the straw that made me believe the comics industry is just a big money laundering scheme. No way there's people buying that embarassing garbage.
if you're gonna do fury you need someone with some energy. i don't even think it could be done just like a faithful captain america, although the evans cap eventually became an ok character despite his lack of gravitas.
Black Nick Fury is a totally different character than White Nick Fury, but he does make sense. I personally prefer White Nick Fury (especially old Agents of SHIELD comics) because I like the James Bond/Dirty Harry deckplate leader-style he has. He was a cigar chomping badass who would fist fight Captain America because of some disagreement. Black Nick Fury comes from the Ultimate comics and his character fits perfectly well into that revamped parallel universe where everyone was kind of dickish anyway. He was a very shady bureaucratic style leader of a powerful agency. Instead of leading the charge on the ground with his men he was more comfortable operating from the shadows and making amoral decisions. He wouldn't shy away from using underhanded tactics. There would be no "fist-fight" with Captain America, he would lead him into some chamber that would electrocute him and say some arrogant shit as his men arrested him.
Recently they started making White Nick Fury more and more like Black Nick Fury in the comics, but I don't read that shit anymore. I guess the movies decided they would rather have the shady bureaucratic Nick Fury over the Clint Eastwood Nick Fury.
I don't know. I don't know why they didn't just make a new black character that took over SHIELD from Nick Fury because the government was tired of his loose cannon shoot from the hip personality.
>Take a comic that’s entire plot is centered around well known heroes not being who they really are >Adapt it when all your well known actors/heroes have died or quit >Adapt it as a low budget TV show so you can’t even afford the superheroes you have left
>watch first episode >every character talks down to samuel L jackson and calls him a washed up loser
Oh, so nothing new. I don't even want to know what PoC female sidekick will be the one to take his place and humiliate him.
I’m exhausted by the trend of having every third line in sequels/continuations/reboots being about how old and pathetic the main character is and how they should just go die. Why is Nick Fury dressed like a lighthouse keeper and acting like he has Lyme disease?
first 3 phases were great, but phase 4 was so shit on top of being oversaturated that nobody cares anymore
Hawkeye was the only good show, and even it had a shitty villain
I'm watching Secret Invasion because Fury and it feels less capeshitty, but it's really boring so far and should have just been a movie like most of the shows should have been
>first 3 phases were great, but phase 4 was so shit on top of being oversaturated that nobody cares anymore
Yes, Disney felt that animation, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, were all endless cash cows, got greedy, and decided to just mindlessly milk them forever. It resulted in endless "content" but less important, and all interconnected into some mindless sea that's impossible to follow. Plus tons of 2nd stringers that are barely anything like Ant-man, etc.
It wasn't about milking more money, that is or was a secondary concern. Primarily Yidney wanted to use the momentum from Marvel and the fame of Star Wars to push their troonyhomosexual message to the masses.
Lucky for us they are far too moronic to bind their own shoes without help so here we are.
They wanted to use them to spearhead D+ signups. The sheer amount of content, and how it's all now handled by white women middle managers and diversity hires, results in all the gay troony shit. It's always white women. Always.
This image is the most hilarious shit since apparently the whole concept of audio-books is alien. You can listen WHILE working out. You can do two things at once? What a shock?
Second fallacy is that muscles are just for looks. Extreme bodybuilding? Sure. But muscles help support your frame and they take pressure off your joints. Stronger core and legs help your knees from wearing out. Seemingly no one explains this to society.
Which is funny because you can say the same thing as some gaming loser. Every anime or video game they beat represents something productive they didn’t do.
Antman was decent though, he tied into phase 3 well and played an important role. everything after phase 3 basically sucked so bad that any and all true fans are gone, replaced by Twitter bots and Disney buying empty seats to boost numbers. I really don't see how anyone watches /tv or films at all anymore. I personally don't like being insulted every time I turn on the tellie.
Speed. End-game CGI/Greenscreen is an exec's dream and it's why they can pump out so many of these shitty shows and movies so fast. You don't have to work around actor's schedules and ensure they're all in the same room, you can film one guy's scenes and then the person he's talking to 2 months later. They can change everything about the scene as they want.
I've read that the way they shoot these movies now is so that almost everything can be changed in post. The end result is movies and shows stitched together with pick up shots and the worst CGI imaginable.
I've read that the way they shoot these movies now is so that almost everything can be changed in post. The end result is movies and shows stitched together with pick up shots and the worst CGI imaginable.
just sitting in an apartment holding a gun but can't shoot it practical
1. They needed something NOT confusing. A simple single tv show that aired for like 9 seasons about a specific set of characters.
2. They needed to NOT make Disney plus. Focus on cable tv, then netflix/hulu, for streaming it.
3. The tv show has occasional once a season cameos with well knowns.
Their strategy is just shooting everything at the wall and seeing what sticks, and burning through characters to entice people to sign up so they can finally see these random characters 8 episode shows. It's a confusing idiotic web of content slop.
>already too much fricking shit to keep track of >want to trade a bunch of 6 episode miniseries for a long running cable show
That's just even more content to watch. That would literally make everything worse.
The long running Cable show could be like X-Files meets Marvel. Just focus on two agents and their lives and adventures and investigations and battles. Just make it its own thing. They get orders from Nick Fury like Charlie's Angels. Then you have the seasonal Spiderman ep, Wolverine ep, they meet Thor, etc.
There's TOO MANY fricking mini-series for Star Wars and Marvel to keep track of.
They already made Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. which was basically what you're talking about. The fact is that none of these Disney+ shows have anyone who knows how to make TV, so you just end up with a stretched out movie plot that runs out of steam in less than 6 episodes. If you took any streaming showrunner and told them "You have to make 20+ episodes a year each year until you're cancelled" they'd eat a gun. They're not built for it.
Sometimes I look at American comics and ask myself why they can't try anything different even with the art. Imagine if every page looked like ultra realistic or maybe those cool art deco posters/paintings you see in Italian futurism, Nazism or from America in the 1950s.
Eh, there's some American comics art that I like the aesthetics of, like Hellboy. The majority of capeshit is shit, but even that has artists that really push the envelope sometimes, like Paul Pope.
I am actually liking it
I like the skull good guy actor, fury is Jackson and he's good at it
Rhodey giving fury shit for trying to pull the black card then firing him was funny
Capeshit has been dead. Black personman 2 only did well because zoomers like their gay cartoons and it didn’t cost that much to make. The rest of the genre is dead as frick and I can’t wait for Avengers 6 or whatever number they’re on to flop bigger than Indiana Jones and the Dilator of Disgust.
This should have been a big phase when Ironman and Steve was alive. But became just small tv series with fury as lead. Wish earth mightiest heroes didn't got cancelled.
Fury was decent enough to attract some fan attention and he did. Problem is the writing is such utter garbage, the shows you listed all might as well be Shakespear compared to this drivel.
>Literally nobody is talking about this show
Because literally nothing interesting is happening. There's a lot of Skrulls on Earth, they want the Earth, Nick doesn't want to give them the Earth.
Wasn't the whole point of Secret Invasion to be a company wide storyline where the big shock was the the heroes we knew have been Skrulls for a long time now. And trying to figure out who the next Skrull reveal was. Confining it to a 6 episode series with the only important characters being Nick Fury and War Machine kinda wastes that premise.
Secret Invasion is the start of the third stage of disillusion to me:
>stage 1: Stopped looking forward to MCU shit but still watched them all out of habit and boredom >stage 2: Chose to skip movies/shows, but still read/watched summaries about them to keep in the loop >stage 3: No longer in the loop and not making an effort to stay in it. I didn't even realise Secret Invasion was going on until a couple of days ago
I hope the next stage will be me just stopping visiting these threads entirely rather than be the sort of person that wastes time and energy getting pissed off or whiney at shit he should have stopped caring about years ago.
I realized I was at stage 3 when watching Strange 2 with some friends, had no clue why Wanda was suddenly evil and one of them said I should have watched Wandavision first
they literally made nick fury into a DINFU NUFFIN type of a character
nick fury never mentioned race in any of the movies, but then in this show >COME ON WAR MACHINE HELP A BROTHA OUT
literally implying nick fury wants help because him and war machine are both black. who wrote this shit?
even the comic book event it's based on was largely laughed at
This.
I actually stopped reading comics when they started making everyone skrulls.
Why the frick do capeshit comics have an episodic format anyway? Why don't they have a beginning, middle, and end like manga or any normal novel?
Money.
Also another reason I stopped reading them is because they tend to have different writers for different issues. So you'll have a for example a good story and they will ruin it completely in the next episode.
Example: Planet Hulk
Comics have progressively (heh) dying for decades so it's not sales. It's just how their market evolved. The moral panic in the 50's about comics resulted in a total gutting of the industry, and they never recovered. It removed a lot of diversity and anything edgy, and only super hero comics survived by being squeaky clean. That had the format of super hero comics just going on FOREVER. Yeah. I'm only watching it because my girlfriend (Emilia Clarke) is in it
she looks good in ops picture
how's she look on the show
b***h looks so skinny and old it’s unreal.
Honestly one of the worst appearances I’ve seen of an actress in a long time.
You missed Gates McFadden in ST:Picard?
Make good capeshit and people will talk about it.

was going to watch it for emilia but i got as far as the splash page on disney plus and just couldn't force myself to press play. not sure why.

Plus bonus: you will bang girls easier.
Which is funny because you can say the same thing as some gaming loser. Every anime or video game they beat represents something productive they didn’t do.
>audio-books
Only homosexuals do that. You gain much more by actually reading
I've watched everything in the MCU but I've pirated every single thing from phase 4. Not gonna pay for these gay movies. Nope. Just not gonna do it.
Clip from this week's episode
Generic awful dialogue and bad greenscreen, they couldn't have shot in a real cafe?
The end result is movies and shows stitched together with pick up shots and the worst CGI imaginable.
just sitting in an apartment holding a gun but can't shoot it practical
That awkward pause makes Ben Mendelsohn look like a terrible actor which he isn't
I just can't believe people will watch this, and even worse, get excited over it... pure goyslop.
Is Emilia hot in it?
Marvel need a complete reboot. It's time for the Snyder MEU. Starting with an earnest and grandiose adaption of the Power Pack with religious imagery.
It's a confusing idiotic web of content slop.
>already too much fricking shit to keep track of
>want to trade a bunch of 6 episode miniseries for a long running cable show
That's just even more content to watch.
God I hope so
Sometimes I look at American comics and ask myself why they can't try anything different even with the art. Imagine if every page looked like ultra realistic or maybe those cool art deco posters/paintings you see in Italian futurism, Nazism or from America in the 1950s.
America used to be so wholesome. What went wrong?
Comic books are considered the art slums so you aren't going to see the best artists working on them. Maybe check out some Alex Ross comics though
Fury isn't exactly a character that brought people in droves to the MCU. Not to mention no one gives a fricking shit about Skrulls.
Wish earth mightiest heroes didn't got cancelled.
nobody is talking about this
It is the ACTUAL Secret invasion, it's flying under the radar lmao
I had no idea it even existed. At this point anyone could throw together a fake poster with the Marvel logo on it and I'd believe it
I refuse to consoom yidsneed wokeslop.
>slopslopslop with AIslop intro and slopwriting directed by slopsters and focus-group-slop slopites
uhh I wonder why
>liking capeshit means you like ALL capeshit
It's not like a weak, watered-down version of 24,Counterpart or other spy drama turns capeshitters off.
Fury was decent enough to attract some fan attention and he did. Problem is the writing is such utter garbage, the shows you listed all might as well be Shakespear compared to this drivel.
Wait, it's out?
gee i wonder if the alien is bilbo
>Literally nobody is talking about this show
Because literally nothing interesting is happening. There's a lot of Skrulls on Earth, they want the Earth, Nick doesn't want to give them the Earth.
I literally never heard of this show. Wow, Marvel, thats a new low.
the show sucks. It sucks even more than the usual MCU crap since Endgame. MCU is literally worse than TWD universe right now.
Wasn't the whole point of Secret Invasion to be a company wide storyline where the big shock was the the heroes we knew have been Skrulls for a long time now. And trying to figure out who the next Skrull reveal was. Confining it to a 6 episode series with the only important characters being Nick Fury and War Machine kinda wastes that premise.
secret invasion would have been a better thanos replacement than kangz
its very dull so far, also peacemaker did pretty much the same story first not too long ago
Secret Invasion is the start of the third stage of disillusion to me:
>stage 1: Stopped looking forward to MCU shit but still watched them all out of habit and boredom
>stage 2: Chose to skip movies/shows, but still read/watched summaries about them to keep in the loop
>stage 3: No longer in the loop and not making an effort to stay in it. I didn't even realise Secret Invasion was going on until a couple of days ago
I hope the next stage will be me just stopping visiting these threads entirely rather than be the sort of person that wastes time and energy getting pissed off or whiney at shit he should have stopped caring about years ago.
Well done kid. Adulthood is looming.
I realized I was at stage 3 when watching Strange 2 with some friends, had no clue why Wanda was suddenly evil and one of them said I should have watched Wandavision first
theres nothing superhero about it yet, its all catch up and setup
Rhoady bready based now
is that sarah conners on the right?
get some fricking liquid terminators up in this
they literally made nick fury into a DINFU NUFFIN type of a character
nick fury never mentioned race in any of the movies, but then in this show
>COME ON WAR MACHINE HELP A BROTHA OUT
literally implying nick fury wants help because him and war machine are both black. who wrote this shit?
The frick is this, The Masks x-wives invade the divorce room for custody of the child?
Is there something to talk about?
