At least Buffy actually did the musical episode well and had a whole lot of plot and character development happen in it, instead of making it just 40 minutes of goofing around with actors trying to sing
Most musical episodes forget that musicals are meant to tell a story too, instead of just having songs which might get your original cast recording onto the charts

Sort of agree, but the main thing is that the main character needs to be dreaming, drunk, or hallucinating somehow because it's moronic to have a musical episode with no explanation as to why it needs to be a musical episode.

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEjYFRXPo5Y

        it was a muscial episode

In Star Trek it might be interesting if they're under the influence of some kind of anomaly or alien disease like when they lost their inhibitions in TNG, but I doubt they put that much thought into it.

      Anonymous

Buffy and Xena did it right, also its a show with a female lead, so it's fitting.
Voyager deserved the musical episode, and there was a species they find thta comunicates throught posing and dancing, that was the perfect moment.

Nobody cares, dude. This shit sucks. Everything about it is objectively terrible. It’s bad creators pulling the “but it’s SUPPOSED to be bad!” to pull a victory out of a pile of shit, and you’re here saying it’s tasty.

Nah I agree, episode wasn't great. SNW has had a few good episodes, it's not quite as bad as people are making it out to be, it's nowhere near the same league of flat out awful as STD.
I just can't stand the constant misrepresentations of everything on this board.

            Anonymous

What are the constant misrepresentations? The only positive that might have existed about SNW is that it was perhaps slightly less terrible than DISCO or PIC (which I disagreed with) and now they’ve thrown even THAT down the shitter by attempting human Spock comedy (he was half to begin with, but the writers are lazy and brain dead), a carton crossover, and now possibly the most cringe worthy musical episode in television history. WHAT misrepresentation? Nobody is watching. There are no memes. There is no merchandise. Nobody I know IRL watches it, not even Trek fans.

I looked it up she actually has an EP out and was in musicals before. Her solo song is about coming out of her shell and stuff, It was pretty good, couldn't hear any autotune unlike the other actors obviously (except for Uhura who was also good, but she has a grammy afaik). All the arrangements are super-generic showtunes stuff, but they managed to put character development in the lyrics pretty well.
I liked this episode way more than the amnesia planet and other generic trek ones, those felt pretty uninspired and just like they were doing their chores. This one felt like an actual labor of love, a bit like those fanservice eps at the end of Picard s3, except in a different way.
