Anime does 10x more with a lower budget and less time, the industry over there is just really efficient (and also of course, animators are overworked to near death)
The trick to it is that you don't NEED every moment to be fluid and detailed animation. If your scene is just two guys standing in a room talking, you can have stretches of time where they just stand there listening, or doing close-up shots of faces. Using directing tricks to convey emotion and reaction instead of just throwing money at it and doing it the dumb and obvious and expensive way.
Do a few scenes like that, and you can take your savings over to the action scenes in the same episode and do something big and flashy and impressive. And when the episode is over? Nobody remembers how the conversation looked, they remember what the conversation SAID. But the audience absolutely remembers how cool this bit looked, and that colors their memory of the visual quality of the entire show.
Can sorta agree. I remember nothing about most eps of Kimetsu no Yaiba and couldn't tell you if the animation was good or cheap or whatever most of the time. But fricking everyone remembers this scene and never shuts up about the animation
Not everything has to be moving all the time, but when stuff does moves, make it count

Another thing that occurs to me, looking at examples, is that these scenes are lent additional impact and focus by two things that are not actually animation quality related.
The first is use of color. Take away frame per second arguments entirely, and there is just no denying that the elemental effects in Demon Slayer, even in a still image, just *look* more striking than anything western animation is interested in doing. I can't think of a single cartoon that achieves the sort of glow effect that

has in its picture, for example. So even if the frame-to-frame animation quality is worse in anime, what you are being shown just hits the viewer way harder.
The second bit, which stacks with that, is audio design. Western cartoons basically don't even try when it comes to their sound effects, and music and scene audio basically never mesh up together. While Japan drops stuff like this on a regular basis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCcvSGKpycg. Again, not actually a function of the animation itself but its hard to deny that what the audio is doing there does not elevate the scene. You could add 50 more frames to that clip but put it on mute, and it would objectively be worse for the trade.

I'd argue that you are being distracted by animation framerate instead. Id rather have 100 detailed frames that look great than 300 frames that look like a child's doodle.
>Modern anime animation is dog shit and just hides behind lots of cheap digital visual effects and bloom filters.
If its so cheap and easy to do, and it leaves a favorable impact on the audience (as it undeniably does, given how many people watch and enjoy these anime) why has the west not so much as attempted it?
You can't even say they are not interested in those kinds of stories, Amphibia for example LITERALLY has a super-saiyan powerup. Its just one that looks worse than what it is copying in every way be due to worse directing, worse use of color, and worse use of audio to enhance the scene.

Congratulations, you are an idiot. What they did is they animated a 4 second clip and they split it up into three segments. No frame of the spider-mechs running is reused, its just the cutting back and forth to a two things happening in a very short amount of time and the different reactions are used to establish tone and relative power. The canon is moving slowly, casually and gracefully. It is under no threat. It has no need to move quickly, because it is in control. The mechs, on the other hand are scrambling. They are panicked, fleeing for their lives. Even before the canon fires and you see the damage it does, the scene conveys perfectly the power disparity between the two sides.
>Japs are just better at hiding it.
Other way around, Japs are basically not even trying to hide it, massive downgrade in animation from scene to scene is even noticed by children. Making models that are easier to animate is an actual attempt at hiding cost cutting. The difference in perception is because teenagers and manchildren are way more forgiving of things as long as they're pretty or cool on a surface level, which anime is great at.

Why do these industry types go straight to 'anime bad' so often when their flaws or failures are pointed out? The Lightyear director did something similar just last week.
A comic with so little variation between panels that it could be a Warhol piece.
Much better composition but still pretty poor with a horribly unfunny punchline.
Two reasons:
Anime was orinignally a knockoff of Disney cartoons and heavily inspired by Western stories. Since they identify with Disney or some other American animation, they believe themselves to be above anime.
The also grew up with anime and their style ends up being derivative from it, thus causing saltiness towards anime for being what they aspired to be but couldn't do.

I think it's really funny that this dude blocked me as I explained that dogs are masculine animals just as cats are considered to be feminine animals and so that is why people like to think of dogs as boys. Thus dealing with the basis for one of his stupid comics.
As usual this comic displays frustration and rage about his artistic and political inadequacies. His real point subliminated here is that someone who values honest artistic expression would probably value the Goku drawing above any of those Disney and CN shows.
Just as I would say this is a great drawing over a decade ago. I didn't see much honesty back then.

They know that nobody wants to watch or read their work over anime so they try to groom Zoomers to prefer their work anyway. That's where the Zoomers who troll this board came from, not many of them fall for it
cali gay artists get up their own ass, mad that other creators have a greater perceived degree of freedom in their art and more sales. They didn't grasp the brutal schedule of weekly manga and the concept of filler. Also old fricks stubbornly sticking to their old ways, which the japs are guilty of too in most of their business ways.
A boyfriend with a vegana and slightly female features. Truth be told, I was sweet on this chick who wanted to be an FTM thing, but stayed sorta non-binary. The only thing was that she went by male pronouns, but I would have absolutely called her my boyfriend if it meant I could frick her.
This one makes a good point; people see pride shit and think that's all there is to a person but excuse everything else someone can wear. It makes your bias apparent.
They chose to make their personalities what they wear. Seeing the comics and cartoons they make goes to show they never developed an actual personality, all they have is substitutes for one
No, people have more going on than their interests, careers, and the things they celebrate. Making assumptions about their whole personality based on a pride or a MAGA shirt is dumb, though MAGA is specifically based around a political candidate.
There's a weird uncanniness to his art, almost as if he just traces 3D models and slaps some shitty details on top. Which is pretty sad since the end result is still mediocre.
Man, I'm not in this guy's headspace, but without context I feel like there's multiple leaps in logic that would be required to make this into more than a non-sequitur.
I feel like he's going for "all anime looks the same too" but the punchline seems to be more about him drawings poorly than about homogeneity in eastern animation.
That or just a very specific caricature of what ti sees as this kind of guy.
I'd say it's weird that he just drew him as a fit nondescript twink but that'd probably require creating a new body template if he tried to draw him like a neckbeard or skellington

...so anyway, is there a dildo that also removes blackheads?
he's not wrong
not a good idea to piss off mexicans
>Changes his artstyle to be less beanmouth
>looks better
>uses it to complain about people who dislike beanmouth
Poor hotboi8374
I want to frick that cute guy
Eeugh
thank god I'm not the only one
Ryan Gosling/Ken.
>duplicates the skate and tilts it
genius
I think it's really funny that this dude blocked me as I explained that dogs are masculine animals just as cats are considered to be feminine animals and so that is why people like to think of dogs as boys. Thus dealing with the basis for one of his stupid comics.
As usual this comic displays frustration and rage about his artistic and political inadequacies. His real point subliminated here is that someone who values honest artistic expression would probably value the Goku drawing above any of those Disney and CN shows.
Just as I would say this is a great drawing over a decade ago. I didn't see much honesty back then.
>dogs are masculine animals just as cats are considered to be feminine animals and so that is why people like to think of dogs as boys.
You deserve it dogfricker
I would never frick a dog even if it was a doggirl, as I do not know enough about them to say if they should consort with humans
Based. Cans are a good subject to explore in a cartoon. That's the sort of thing genius cartoonists notice
Shut the frick up, idiot.
Guessing one of the Zoomer trolls angry that I picked apart his Zoomer world with a little observation I've had for as long as I can remember. I used to not know that people could be so stupid as to not realize things like masculine and feminine animals, but it's because they rejected God's design lol
Enjoy your dysphoria and dumbass kid comebacks
They know that nobody wants to watch or read their work over anime so they try to groom Zoomers to prefer their work anyway. That's where the Zoomers who troll this board came from, not many of them fall for it
>not handing the kid a bat
Look, we all know about the monsters under the bed. Not giving him a fighting chance is just cruel.
Is it so hard for him to move the fricking eyebrows?
You're just an ugly thing to witness, is all.
How in the hell do americans still get butthurt about anime?
As an American I don't get it either, I assume the butthurt largely comes from flyovers and talentless Caligays.
cali gay artists get up their own ass, mad that other creators have a greater perceived degree of freedom in their art and more sales. They didn't grasp the brutal schedule of weekly manga and the concept of filler. Also old fricks stubbornly sticking to their old ways, which the japs are guilty of too in most of their business ways.
haha
I love Kara
A boyfriend with a vegana and slightly female features. Truth be told, I was sweet on this chick who wanted to be an FTM thing, but stayed sorta non-binary. The only thing was that she went by male pronouns, but I would have absolutely called her my boyfriend if it meant I could frick her.
Based John K making CalArtsgays seethe to this day
John K was right
>To me, you're cheating someone if you don't put breasts in a cartoon
>if you're not going to give me art at least give me breasts
clearly he took the second option
Yes,calarts sucks
What episode is the bugs dressed as Stalin from?
The ending of Herr Meets Hare.
A man of good taste
John even put breasts on a cartoon once he got the chance, this was after Katie Rice got him into ecchi anime tho
A good artist is one who grooms teenagers
What makes a great artist then?
I’ll give Adam this, atleast he doesn’t draw his political opponents cartoonishly stupid.
I'd frick that trumper NGL
twink trumper
This one makes a good point; people see pride shit and think that's all there is to a person but excuse everything else someone can wear. It makes your bias apparent.
They chose to make their personalities what they wear. Seeing the comics and cartoons they make goes to show they never developed an actual personality, all they have is substitutes for one
What's that based on?
Isn't it obvious?
No, people have more going on than their interests, careers, and the things they celebrate. Making assumptions about their whole personality based on a pride or a MAGA shirt is dumb, though MAGA is specifically based around a political candidate.
Normalgays seething over eastern superiority, typical!
Let's
Kill
The animation industry
There's a weird uncanniness to his art, almost as if he just traces 3D models and slaps some shitty details on top. Which is pretty sad since the end result is still mediocre.
Today I will remind them.
>Quinton reviews
I swear i thought that idiot was dead
is he dead?
Man, I'm not in this guy's headspace, but without context I feel like there's multiple leaps in logic that would be required to make this into more than a non-sequitur.
I feel like he's going for "all anime looks the same too" but the punchline seems to be more about him drawings poorly than about homogeneity in eastern animation.
reminder that adamtots commissioned furry porn of himself
Is this supposed to be a jab at a specific person?
That or just a very specific caricature of what ti sees as this kind of guy.
I'd say it's weird that he just drew him as a fit nondescript twink but that'd probably require creating a new body template if he tried to draw him like a neckbeard or skellington
I want to frick white korra
