Alice is still in the top 10 of most popular children literature. Oz is somewhere in the mid 80s last I checked. Alice's movie being animated also gives it an edge with kids.
I think it’s because Alice in wonderland has ties to drugs and growing up, while wizard of Oz is mostly if you go by the movie only a dream. So it’s easier to see why people h e a deeper connection to wonderland than Oz.
You could do an OG Legion of Doom reunion with Cheetah as Lion and Brainiac as Tinman. Luthor would be the Wizard. Toyman makes the flying monkeys. Grodd is Toto and Giganta is Dorothy and the plot is she's trying to find shoes to fit her massive feet.

It's because Alice is public domain whereas the Wizard of Oz film is not (the book is but most people know the movie version).
