I know this is bait but this list is actually better than the one in OP
none of these films are that good though (apocalypse now is actually a pretty bad film and pointing this out leads to endless seethe from people who only watch IMDB top 500)
There's nothing wrong with analyzing why you like a movie but one shouldn't question their enjoyment of something because it isn't as "good" as something else based on someone else's arbitrary criteria. I might go see the new Expendables movie for example.
>I might go see the new Expendables movie for example.
And i spend most of my movie watching time watching comfort movies.
The ones that i enjoy the most: >Submarine >Young Frankenstein >The Naked Gun
The best ones I've seen: >The Ascent >World on a Wire >On the Silver Globe
The ones that i relate to emotionally: >Synecdoche New York >Leaving Las Vegas >American Psycho
Let me guess, your "greatest film of all time" is some black and white bullshit that 10 people in the world have seen (including you and the girl you were trying to impress) whose name starts with "là"
>Excalibur >The Ninth Gate >A Few Good Men
These aren't the best movies of all time just my favorites. Any "best" list is ultimately going to be skewed because you'll have too many people trying to look smarter than everyone else and pick the most important/technically proficient movies regardless of how much they actually like them. I think best of lists are dumb I'd much rather someone tell me their favorite movies.
This is a great point, sometimes one gets so lost in pseud stuff that forgets why he likes what he does.
As mulholland drive goes, i didn't like it for the woman singing or any of the lynchian things that are simply there because "le dreams are le random", but for the tragic love aspect and because everything i like is "suicidal".

yeah, best lists are getting more and more annoying every year because everyone is always trying to one-up eachother by posting "hidden gems" with the occasional movie no ones ever seen, even if the movies themselves arent that good. you can tell redditors made this list because those films are all they ever talk about. mulholland drive is literally peak reddit, it does not deserve top 3, but i will say that its a good movie. in fact, im sure this list was literally to feed the common redditors sense of "good taste" so they feel smart about themselves.
>Excalibur
This is on the list of movies that I will pick up from any point in the movie and watch it to the end, which for me is the highest praise is you can give a movie.
