It's true. The helmet was purely aesthetic in the comics, and it was magnetism that somehow made Magneto immune to Xavier's telepathy.

Now that you told me this, the helmet blocking telepaths is really stupid.

So is it the material that is impenetrable to telepathy, or does it also have to be the exact same color and shape?

What's it made out of? Telepathium?

So i think it have something to do with metal and faraday cages.
You see how in movies when they show a conspiracy maniac, always wears a tin foil hat?, thats to stop mind reading or something.
All this comes from the idea that psy powers works like electricity or wiffi, so if you cover something in metal, it becomes psy prof, becuase of faraday cage.
All of this is what happens when you are working with fictional conceps, and you have to find a way to nerf psy somehow.

            >Professor Charles Xavier was stabbed to death by a horde of meth heads earlier today.

I wonder if in the 80s Mansion era Charles would blow off steam by secretly going into Manhattan late at night, finding some homeless junkies, and making them rape, torture, and murder each other for his amusement. In the morning when the cops find the mutilated bodies they just figure it was some fricked-up drug thing.

Yes I understand the idea behind it, but why would magneto need it if he can control every spectrum? He is OP as frick and wouldn't need any helmet to block telepaths. He would do it without any effort.

uh no. it has always been the helmet. You didn't watch the 90s series I take it. They had to get his helmet off to defeat him with psychic. same with Juggernaut.

I thought that was the case too, but Xavier makes him relive the holocaust (lmao) right through his helmet.

ehhh that show made mistakes like that all the time. I definitely remember the helmet being his psyproofing. If that had been new for the movies, I would have reacted to it like "Whoa that's a new idea, same as juggernaut's!"

I believe Xavier did the same thing in the comics when Magneto went off the deep end and ripped the adamantium off of Wolverine's bones.

Yeah, honestly kinda lame to just recycle Juggernaut like that. Much prefer it's just Kirby fashion and Stan not understanding magnetism preventing Xavier from messing with him

Xavier is a worse jobber than Martian Manhunter, I swear everything can block his powers
      >deadpool cells regenerate too fast so Xavier can't do shit
      >magneto use magnetism so for some reason Xavier can't do shit
      >Blob is so dumb Xavier can't do shit
      >Wolverine just ended up resistant to it after being mindfricked so many times

You need an excuse for heroes wearing stupid costumes. This was as good an excuse as any.

And the comics even adopted it because writers these days are only familiar with the movies.

In real life, it has to be a Guy Fawkes mask, but Scientology paid Marvel not to put that into their comics.

Not him but I browse to shit on modern properties because I want western animation to just die completely and have all of the current creators (with a couple exceptions) be purged so a new fresh group can take over. I want the animation industry to not be bad in the west and to have some actual investment in it, comics in the west are always going to suck because capeshit sucks for the most part. Only certain animated capeshit stuff is even worth your time.

I mean, you ALSO need an excuse for why Xavier hasn't just fricking found Magneto by now. After the demonstration with Cerebro the question is obviously there: why hasn't he located Mags and sicced Scott/Storm/Jean on him yet? It makes sense that the movie would want an answer for why that hasn't happened.

I'm no X-Men buff but even I know that's not true. My first exposure to X-Men was the animated on in the 90's. I remember them asking why Professor X simply doesn't just shut him down with his telepathy. He says the helmet protects him. It was the same with Juggernaut. They needed to do this tag team thing so they can get the helmet off which was cool because it was really the only way to beat him.

Reminder that Stan Lee did NOT base Professor X and Magneto on MLK and Malcolm X. This is a lie perpetrated by people that never read the original comics.
