Is there no middle ground between haute cuisine and fast food? It's the White House, FFS.

It's not "elitist" to criticize a state fricking dinner hosted by the POTUS at which the guests are served McDoubles in paper wrappers. Are you serious??

What's "bootlicker" about showing guests of the highest office in the world some respect and serving them decent food? You Trump apologists really are deplorable. You are proud of being trashy. It's a whole attitude. Like smart people are "dumb" for being smart. Because it's "elite" to be better than dumb trailer people. I'm so glad Toby Keith died. That guy was "one of you". Only a country-dumb piece of shit would see nothing nationally embarrassing about McDonalds catering a White House Dinner. There's elitism and there's common sense. That dude has no shame. He's rich as frick but deep down has lowest common denominator taste. Coulda gone either way; you could almost see him eating steaks covered in gold, but he went the other way with it.

                >government shutdown caused by Democrats.

Do you know anything about politics or do you just repeat Fox News bullshit talking points?

Government shutdowns are the result of failure to come to compromise. To blame Democrats is basically to say it's fair that Republicans were holding it hostage for what they deemed necessary budget cuts, and when the Democrats insisted we just raise the debt limit as we always do, it was fine for GOP to let the government shut down because they didn't get their way. LOL, that's not quite the Dems "causing" the government shutdown. Laying blame on the other party on these bipartisan issues is ignorant. But if anyone is to blame it's GOP. Dems are NEVER in favor of shutting down. GOP pulls these extreme stunts more and more lately. They don't honor unwritten rules. They stalled Obama's SCOTUS pick and let Trump have two. They fricking cheated right out in the open. And then their claims of cheating (election fraud, etc..) is always conspiracy theory bullshit that courts throw out. It's just actual lies and cheating and you people believe it. The GOP knows they're dirty and cheating but they do it in the open. They laugh at what useful idiots you are. Always, always voting against your economic best interests. You're the reason for the widening class gap and you don't even mind being poor as long as you feel the libs are getting owned. Fricking morons, any conservative who isn't stinking rich.

It's so wild there are really people who can twist it in their minds to take exactly what the democrats have done and are doing (three democrat politicians/democrat election clerks have been convicted of election fraud this year for ballot stuffing local races) and just claim the Republicans are the ones that actually did it.

Local races? Whatever. That lends no credence to your 2020 stolen election claims. You're delusional to the point that you argue with the established facts. Things are OFFICIALLY debunked or fact checked and you'll just say it was some liberal authority saying it so it doesn't count. You deny the truth. You're seeing the world subjectively. You probably actually believe shit Trump says out his ass. You're operation in a different reality. That's the problem with this country, we can't even agree on what's true. The real players can. The actual politicians know. But you dumb people who vote for them really, honestly believe the lies. You don't just go along with it because of the party, you actually believe the fringe shit.

Yep. My nephew told me a kid in class was picking on him. My advice was to fight back viciously if he touched him, or to smash something over the back of his head when he isn't paying attention. If I went back in time, extreme violence is how I'd handle any bully situation. It seems to be the most effective solution.

I told him that any punishment he receives from the school is worth it, because it's the authority's job to stop others from victimizing you, and if they fail in their duty then it's up to you to defend yourself. The school staff usually doesn't care about bullying until it becomes a problem for them. If the victim suffers in silence, that's fine because it isn't causing them trouble. When the victim fights back, both the bully and the victim get in trouble, because it's annoyed the school staff. They generally don't care to find out who's victimized who or prevent it. In an unfair and unjust situation like this, it's best to be proactive. If someone fricks with you, retaliate as viciously as possible. And if they escalate, then you escalate even more.

This also applies to regular society, just replace school with government and suspension with jail. If the government sent me to jail for blowing the head off a home invader, that'd be fine and worth it.

I don’t remember the students but I’ll always remember the teachers who singled me out in front of the class. One teacher would scream at me for things like eating in class or getting up to sharpen a pencil. What other profession allows you to bully and torment other people’s kids? You don’t know what they’re struggling with at home.

                Anonymous

You should've just followed the rules. Some teachers are more strict, but you learn it quickly and work within their parameters. Like those people who end up getting arrested because they just don't fricking comply. Whose fault is it really? Why would you eat in class when you know it's against the rules? Why would you ever do it AGAIN? Sounds like you were a repeat violator. If it was just one case of each of your examples you'd not be so pissed off about still all these years later. You had a singular experience. Your perception is not typical. Any teacher thought to "bully and torment" their pupils would be removed from the job. You were young and hormonal and seem much more traumatized over thinking your teacher didn't like you than you should be. It's you. It wasn't the other kids, the normal kids. It was you. And it wasn't that bad or someone would have noticed and stopped it.

As an American I can't relate to not remembering a single person I graduated with. I'm embarrassed more and more for this country. Too many people are proud of their ignorance. I'm still close friends with half a dozen of my classmates. Even anti-social kids had their little cliques or at least tormentors they'd never forget. Seems like a LOT of the people posting here who seem a bit unhinged and extreme had shitty childhoods, broken homes, and are not far removed from them if at all. I personally don't spread it around that I frequent this site, as the times I have in the past were met with a bit of a negative reevaluation of me. There's a godawful stink on this place, at least as far as normal people are concerned. Even a dozen years later and I still consider myself a tourist. This is a sewer with awful people spewing ignorance and hate. Even the decent people hide any decency because it doesn't fit here. Just look at how many angry responses you got for pointing out what you did. The attitude of this place is like if the harassed nerd was given bully privileges suddenly and became drunk with power and cruel. And yet it's still just all a bullshit act. No one lives the way they post. It's like role-playing an edgy asswipe teenager.

          Anonymous

Nor is it sane that you'd forget absolutely every single one of them or consider them insignificant if you did as if that's not on you. It's one thing to move on and just "not think of those people anymore". It's another to claim you can't remember a single person's name that you supposedly spent years with and probably went to elementary and junior high with too. I'm pretty sure people are confusing the two and thinking that by even admitting they REMEMBER a single solitary name from their past that they're somehow dwelling or "hung up" on the past or "living in the past" or "peaking in the past". No. It's okay to forget even MOST of your classmates; no one was close with everyone. But to stubbornly double down in defense and swear that you can't recall even one goddamed name of one person who you ate with or walked with or sat next to or fricked or fought... well that's just not credible. You're going for that "too cool for school", above it all vibe, but you went too far in your extreme absolutism and refuse to back down. No one buys it. We get that you hit your stride late and never looked back. Good for you. But don't insult everyone by pretending you can just erase people you feel superior to. You can't. Those people who ignored you and bullied you are still in there, just like the girl you crushed on and the kids you drove around with. You might as well claim you don't remember your little cousins you haven't seen in a while. It's bullshit. You can think they're insignificant and sneer down on them in retrospect, but you haven't forgotten all their names. You'd LIKE to forget them, that's clear. But you haven't. And it has nothing to do with your success or your regrets or your feelings on the subject.

They're just defending USA and being contrarian and deluding themselves that they're over their HS trauma. It's hilarious how much mileage has come from your post. And you're right, even though I'm American I can admit many of us are morons. But I'm not sure why you're assuming you're responding to an American. That's a bit rude.

Not American, I just changed 4 kinder gartens and 4 schools. I was drinking recently, and while I do maintain a contact with some from the school I graduated, an idea got to me suddenly that I may be genuinely messed up in my ability to maintain long-standing relationships or friendships. I am just used to people coming and going, you know. I am not used to people staying. And vice versa to be honest, I wonder if someone could say I was there for them.

??? So you filled your brain with the names of better, more important people after high school or you just can't remember anyone you meet? It honestly sounds like some sour grapes answer from someone who absolutely hated their HS experience and would rather they really didn't remember any names. It's totally unrealistic. You didn't really KNOW anyone at all if you tuned them out and forgot them. It's basically identifying yourself as a complete loser and also trying to scoff at anyone (the rest of us, ALL of us) who wasn't, you know, all those dorks who are so pathetic that they actually remember people from high school.

Just remembering your peers you grew up with doesn't mean it was some meaningful shit and nothing good happened since. It's really weird that you guys are defending it and pretending it's normal or cool to have no memory. You were bullied and are bitter. We get it. But you remember them.

Yeah, I remember at least a couple people from every job I had. You obviously did not attend high school for four years and graduate. There's no way. You were homeschooled or a dropout. You don't have to deem people important to remember them. You don't choose what and who you remember. If you put in the time and were immersed in the experience then you took something away. There's seriously something wrong with you if you can't think of a single person you spent that much time with. Did you not get yearbooks? Did you not have study groups? Were you in no clubs or teams?

You didn't go. Otherwise you'd understand how it works. You're like a robot or an alien. We just can't talk about this I guess because you don't get the concept of what high school is.
Maybe you're Amish or some shit. Or from a ghetto. Or overseas... Something's off.

You're a fricking loser for having 4 best friends. A better man would've wiped the slate clean many years ago because those days are gone, man. And they didn't matter anyway. High school was harsh and we blocked it out! waaah

You keep talking shit and defending being an empty-headed moron but you don't argue with the accusation that you didn't even get to have a high school experience at all. Sorry you missed out. You're just a contrarian c**t arguing for the sake of it. There'd be nothing to be proud of even if it were true that someone could forget all their classmates. It'd be admitting a disability at best. But we already know you're moronic because you're making this argument. You're pretending you did something you never did and were too cool to remember it, Champ.

For the record I went to a public high school, graduated and went to college. Just because I don't remember anyone from some place I used to hang out at 20 years ago doesn't mean I was a loser champ. I have lived like 3 different lifetimes since then and there are lot of insignificant moments or details that I can no longer recall, like I said, this is what a healthy brain does. It gets rid of the fluff. If you had kept in contact with people from then then sure it makes sense you remember their name otherwise you're a loser and need to grow up and go live life instead of living in the past

Meanwhile I have no trouble at all remembering everyone from every era of my life. I still remember my classmates and their names just fine, even going back to elementary, as well as everyone important since then. I remember the guy who trained me at my first job, I remember my coworkers. I remember my college friends. I remember the guy at the gym I lifted with 15 years ago. I remember the losers at my shitty 2nd job. I know all the names and personalities of my current coworkers. I know all the names and personalities of people currently in my life. None of it is any trouble for me. You're basically coping about being mentally deficient with bad memory and trying to spin it into a positive. Seems pathetic. Just admit you're a bit of an airhead and move on. Majority of people in the world are pretty dumb and can't remember things, you're one of them. Meditation helps with memory retention and focus, by the way. Just in case you decide you actually care about improving your cognitive function instead of coping and seething

Most anons' "bullies" were charismatic popular kids making light hearted jokes to establish a social hierarchy. That's a basic human behavior and those who seek success at the expense of others do excel in their lives.

I'm a literal shut in NEET, and all my other friends that went around picking on people ended up as frick ups too. Not all became major frick ups, but definitely lower class.

There's a subset of annoying people at school that are ridiculed by absolutely everyone, but it's only like a few people that actively bully other kids and a few that are chronically targeted. Really it's like 10% of the population in either group, and it seems like the other 90% that neither bully nor are bullied to a large degree do better than both groups.

There was this one girl I started a populist movement against. She was actually popular and well liked, but she didn't go to class much and always had some excuse for it. She was also a high ranking member of the student council, but I had been smearing the student council for years (as a meme), so everybody had lost trust in the process at that point. A lot of people would have abstained in that vote if they didn't start to champion my friend as an "everyman." When he lost, I accused the teacher who was in charge of elections for unilaterally appointing the student council and rigging the election (as a meme), and incited resentment towards elites. Then I found her blog, which was filled with a bunch of nonsense. Why not just go to class? How can you understand quantum physics and machine learning while doing so poorly on a physics test? I basically called her a pseud. I only had to say her name to get people to smirk, as if she was everything wrong with this world. I do regret it a bit. Everybody goes through that phase where they think they're better than everybody else. I think she became a model for a small modeling agency.

Bullies had the social game figured out, it didnt matter if they sucked in school.
The school system is a failure for quiet kids. That one butthole who had a good network will always get ahead of your academic achievements.

Bullies didn't fare well socially though. Depends on how you define the term. If you're talking about jocks, they aren't traditional bullies, they're herd bullies, locker room bullies. The Nelson Muntz type bullies are the classic archetype; hulking, bad home life, dumb, poor with shitty clothing, loners. The really violent behind the school bullies were always dirtbags. They had some off-brand scuzzball friends who worked on engines and didn't even go to school. Hesher types. Popular kids hazed and did horseplay bullying, but they had to stay on the team and date girls. They didn't knock your teeth out and shit. They had rep to protect. Like Breakfast Club. Judd Nelson was the "bully" type, while Emilio was the Jock who did hazing stuff and went too far and it was a huge deal. Does this make sense to anyone else?

Yeah. Shit rolls down hill. I'd shoot my mouth off as much as I could get away with. I got along with most everyone, kind of the class clown, definitely a presence. But I pissed off a couple people who'd try to instigate fights with me, tough guy types. They didn't bully me so much as try and threaten me. Never got my ass beat. But I also picked on nerdier kids a bit. Not physical attacks so much as name calling and maybe pushing them into the bushes or playing keepaway with something of theirs. I was an butthole and I gave and I took. Just regular kid stuff. I'm not scarred and I don't think any of my "bullying" scarred anyone else. At least I hope not.

Ya, we didn't have violent bullying at my school but everyone was a dickhead to each other and there were always those super dork kids that it's impossible not to mess with. Bullying is fun and making someone freak out is hilarious, there's no denying it

Bullying and public shaming are both necessary evils for a smoothly functioning society, by discouraging anti-social behaviors during a developmental stage, some are actually stop being anti-social and learn how to function within a group, the more bullying gets discouraged the more you see fringe behaviors getting accepted, trannies, furries, weebs and what have you and they almost always dedicate their lives to being insufferable homosexuals devoted to their niche
I was a big kid who knew how to scrap and I bullied every single kid I thought was extremely pathetic, sniveling snitch types (Randall from Recess, filthy nerds with zero regard for public decency, catty queers who exclusively hung out with women etc
Some of them ended up fixing their behaviors and even one of them even thanked me and ended up joining the boxing gym I go to, eventually changing his homosexual personality
Like everything though, there's both sides to it, some bully others due to our anthropological need to set a social circle straight and others are simply reenacting their shitty home life on random weaklings, regardless, moral hazing has a place in society and we were better off when it was more commonplace

The bully types from my school all ended up deadbeat pieces of shit. Bullying is basically an outlet for insecurity so by definition people who are falling behind or living in tough circumstances tend to be bullies. Self assured jocks who are doing well in sports/school are actually not that big of bullies.

Adulthood is realizing bullying plays an important role in a healthy society. There's a place for individuality and standing up to the mob, but there's also a need for a culture to agree on a list of values. Every time I see one of those #StopBullying commercials I get irrationally angry, especially because the bullying portrayed is either literally nothing or some over the top psycho shit. Also, not a single show or movie has accurately portrayed my experience of high school, the closest was probably Spiderman Homecoming.
