In what way?
For the time it was entertaining.
I think you just like to hate things.
People like people who like things.
Hating everything is exhausting and irrational.
not OP but the humor from that time was reddit as frick and aged like milk
Chappelles show though..
also before the internet era you didnt even have to be funny or talented. you just had to have the right connections despite being a mediocre dipshit
Aqua teen hunger force tho...
Humor usually ages badly
I hate you.
For you.
whatever happened to this gay?
A few dramatic roles. He was supposed to be a big deal in that Woodstock film but it didn't do well. I think he produces now.
He voiced Ice Bear on We Bare Bears
fell off hard after his own comedy central show, just like Jeff Dunham
>Jeff Dunham
He's worth over 100 million I don't think the puppet man gives a shit that he fell off.
Martin probably isn't even worth 1.
Pretty sure he still writes and produces shit for Comedy Central.
He doesn't.
Yeah was gonna say what’s he producing on comedy central they don’t even make shows anymore. Looking at his IMDb doesn’t show anything much of more he’s done in over a decade
Also he’s in his 50s now and still has that stupid hairstyle lol
God I want to fricking slime her so fricking bad FRICK
Do we still say he when they clearly look like they are transitioning?
the decade that gave us the rise of that LOL SO RANDOM humor thats so popular with redditgays today
My problem with Tim and Eric is how confidently they attempted absurdist comedy while have no idea what absurdist comedy even was. The only times they'd hit was when they brought in literal morons and filmed them with old cameras, and when John C Reilley carried.
The men themselves were morons who probably thought absurdism was pretentious and phony because they just couldn't fathom that there was some logic behind it.
Their best skit.
>The only times they'd hit was when they brought in literal morons and filmed them with old cameras,
Tim and Eric were painfully unfunny as writers, but Doug Lussenhop was a really talented editor who managed to hit that nice 'old amateur camcorder footage' pastiche really well and no one would've thought they were funny without him
Yeah it was well edited but Tim & Eric Great Job was hilarious because they were hiring "actors" off of Craigslist.
Look at the Billion Dollar movie which has a normal Hollywood cast. That movie is unwatchable.
He’s hilarious though
Go ahead and make that 2000-2023
boomer here, can confirm. i remember people complaining that comedy central "wasn't as funny as it used to be" in the eary mid 2000's.
Late 2000s maybe
Early and mid still had Chappelle's show and man show
all the stuff that i thought was gay or sucked in the 2000s somehow seems good now because of how bad the state of comedy is now. remember how everyone shit on Dane Cook and Mencia? id take 100 of those guys over the type of laugh free shit shilled by the mainstream today.
They both sucked
>Dane Cook
He is unbearable, though, have you even seen his new special, its all about how he can't even be bothered to talk to a fan having an obvious mental health crisis because he is a giant chickenshit who just wants to hide in his mansion.
Dane Cook or Hannah Gadsby? Be honest.
Which one do I want to frick more? Same obviously
*Dane obviously
>prop comic
he was always a gay. once you bring props into your act it goes from stand up to a childrens show
i remember a lot of these "doodle pad comedians" being a thing in the 2000s, Zach Galifiaknis was a bit like that too but at least his version of it was more humorous that that Demetri hipster homosexual
Nah. Audiences just got more jaded and self absorbed.
I think American comedy has just always been overwhelmingly cringe and awful. America was only really capable of producing comedy kino (like The Simpsons and King of the Hill) in the 90's for some reason. I don't know what that's about.
Jeff Dunham started all this shit. He had some funny lines but once you saw one show you saw the every other show
That’s most comedians in general. Rarely do they have fresh material every time they get on stage.
>Haha I'm saying a really racially insensitive thing through a puppet and it's totally the puppet and not any of my free thinking at all!
I mean the dude was pretty based. Wish he had a black character and said homie but I guess that dummy got scrapped.
>YEAHHHH UHH THESE THINGS THAT ARE MOVING THEIR MOUTHS AND LOOKING AROUND AND SOUND NOTHING LIKE JEFF ARE TOTALLY HIM HE UHHHHHH SOMEHOW UHHHH MAKES THEM TALK MAYBE IT'S MAGIC IDK JUST TRUST ME BRO DESPITE HIS MOUTH BEING CLOSED THE WHOLE TIME IT'S TOTALLY HIM DUDE
Holy shit frick off schizo
NTA but christ he was being sarcastic moron
He did have a black puppet
>second most popular comedian in qatar
he did ha e a black puppet
Every time I see jeff dunham I think of the REAL goated ventriloquist comedian, Otto Petersen, and I think of that story where Patrice was at the comedy cellar after seeing him perform, laughing backstage and going "That homie ain't even TRYIN to make his lips not move"
Based Otto and George Fan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnTfd8o-zJ4
He didn't start it, Dimitri Martin had specials years before him. But fricking Christ if he wasn't the most painfully unfunny "comedian" of all time. Made Gallagher look and the Blue Collar Comedy Tour look like high brow comedy gold.
wut
Demetri Martin didn't make it to television until 2001, Dunham was doing the fricking Tonight Show in 1990 and had been on tv since he was a teenager
You realize when a comedian goes on tour they use the same jokes at every performance, right?
SILENCE. I KILL YOU.
Shut the frick up, moron. It was literally the peak of humor in all of human history.
Nah, 90s was the best decade for comedy
Nah 80s
Beverly Hills Cop III was the 90s and it sucked. So I guess that means you're right in a way.
John Landis really murdered the BHC franchise with that one.
Really cut the series head off.
Eddie Murphy was the last funny black comedian. inb4 Dave Chappelle; Chappelle isn’t funny.
Ahem… forgetting someone??
Nah, you're a fricking homosexual.
Shut up, stupid.
be nice
Idk that, but a lot of stuff was great, even at its best in the 2000's, the only exception being fashion, 2000's fashion fricking sucked
don't talk shit about Pauly Shore homosexual, Biodome was the shit
You don’t deserve those digits you brain rotted gen xer.
Weeze the juice buuuuddy
>it's the weeeezelllll
to be fair, it takes a very high IQ to appreciate Pauly Shore films
seethe harder boomer trash, go jack off to Bob Hope pretending to putt
He wasn’t that popular.
DM was pretty much the only person doing that shtick .
pool's closed was really funny tho.
if you go back and look at 2000s Cinemaphile it feels a lot like reddit tbh, just with middle schooler crassness and racism
reddit didnt ban coontown until 2015
remember that one show that was basically just some guy on stage reacting to youtube videos
normies trying to figure out what to do with the internet was annoying as hell
Tosh.O or something?
Tosh.0. Always hated that homosexual. Not only was he reacting to youtube videos for a living, he also completely aped the Soup format. At least Joel McHale would react to moronic Mexican soap operas and celebrity downfalls.
Also he wasn't a fricking dickslurping homo.
They never showed a compound fracture on The Soup though.
They didn't need to.
They had chicks, man.
Tosh had way more racist and sexist humor and made fun of actual morons in a lot of the videos. It was pretty based for mainstream tv in modern times even when the woke shit was started to creep into tv somehow Tosh kept getting away with his punching down style of comedy on the show
Yeah, when you employ a gay guy to host your show you can get away with a lot of racist and sexist jokes.
You're still watching a limp-wristed homosexual bask in what he considers his own hilarity. I don't regret passing on that shit.
Wrists are the most important part of comedy
homosexuals may be jokes, but they aren't funny.
Did you know Tosh.0 aired new episodes until 2020?
Everything is unfunny after its been fully digested by the cultural hivemind
2000s were great for raunchy movies. Scary Movies, Jackass movies, Freddy got Fingered, etc.
whats gen zee humour?
I used to date a hipster chicken who looked like a trans version of this guy. Same haircut.
the funniest movie ever made came out in 2004 though
Nah it was funny until about 2007 then proto zoomer humor started and it all got ran into the fricken ground
yeah...as soon as millenials got into entertainment
He had 1 decent special, saw his other one and it was the biggest drop in quality ever
He's definitely the type of comedian you only need to see once but that one time is really great.
What about Jackass?
I've always imagined the target audience for these films has to be the most braindead dudebro NPC imaginable.
It was funny when you were young, full of energy and naive. It was not about comedy, it was watching young people like you doing stuff.
I can't watch vines anymore, I don't understand what's so funny about a young adult screaming. Oh yeah, I was just like him...
Oh, sorry, I thought the picture was the 700k debt helium sniffer from that show. Point still stands.
I think I still have a DVD of one of his specials, also I thinking back, even if his standup wouldn't be as funny to me today, I think I'd still like his short lived sketch show.
I didn't have to look back to know this. Neither did Cinemaphile. We made fun of this clown regularly.
The American comedy film genre still existed at that time and I don't think that should be taken for granted. Zoomers don't get a modern day equivalent
Zoomer humour is nothing but underground, inside joke memes, that leave normal people confused.
It really was, only adult swim came close to pushing anything. South Park as well.
Everything else was made super lame because of 9/11.
I think modern streamers are really proving how tame an era it was, considering some of them are on the verge of breaking the law, if they haven't done so.
I thought Twitch had strict rules.
Twitch overlooks a lot of shit. Fricking Sony is more strict. Once banned a guy for posting screenshots of Baiken's cleavage.
Chappelle
Curb
Garth Marenghi
Screenwipe/Newswipe
Arrested Development
Peep Show
The Thick of It
Flight of the Conchords
Check it out with Steve Brule
The Office (Bong version only)
IT Crowd
Black Books
Summer Heights High
Mighty Boosh
Metalocalypse
etc etc etc
There was shitloads of good comedy that decade and it all holds up.
how coudl you forget Xavier Renegade Angel?
How could you forget Reno 911, I feel like that should be Cinemaphiles favorite comedy
The Onion was at its peak back then ackchyually
TRUE comedy hasn't been good since the 50s. nothing beats classic looney toons or tom and jerry.
I still think old Family Guy, Wonder Showzen, WKUK and MDE are funny sometimes.
>dark place
>it crowd
> inbetweeners
>bo selecta
>armando iannuchi shows
>flight of the conchords
>extras
Sorry op. You're just wrong on this one.
british comedy doesnt count, theyre not real people
Real enough to shag your dad!
You're obviously referring exclusively to American 'comedy' which has never been anything other than shit. Just look at the number 1 comic in the USA in that time - Joe Rogan
Of course he's talking about America moron. No one cares about foreigners comedy.
But American comedy is so bad though...
And you're still obsessing about it. See you tomorrow moron.
Why would I obsess over American comedy? It's awful.
On Fridays after school in the mid 00's I used to go to my best friend's house, smoke a bowl, and watch Drawn Together and Wonder Showzen then play Gears of War or Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles until midnight.
I miss those days like you wouldn't believe...
I fricking hated Drawn Together. There was no wit to the jokes. It was basically like being repeatedly slammed in the face with a sledghammer while they screamed about being edgy and offensive.
>I've always imagined the target audience for these films has to be the most braindead dudebro NPC imaginable.
>dee dee dee
>whips out an n64
>'if you know what this is, have a nice day!'
>thats the joke
it really was a different time
>that bieber bowl cut everyone had in 2009-2010
black dynamite came out 2009
all eras of comedy are cringe garbage if all you look at is the cringe garbage
