I think Snyder did have fanboys. After Watchmen, Cinemaphile thought he was a visionary. After Man of Steel and BvS, a lot of people still defended him here. After Army of the Dead, a lot of once Snyder fans are pretending they never were.
This shit I have seen shilled here constantly for the last few days.
So what is the actual verdict of this shit, is it just another gay star wars shit or is it decent.#
i mean snyder is a hack but it cannot be worse than that zombie shit he made, fricking terrible.
you can watch the first 10-15 minute of the movie, pick up a handful of cliches, and know that you've seen the story in other movies, books, video games, etc. a thousand times already. There is nothing original in this film.
Not just story, entire scenes. I knew he was an unoriginal director, but I thought him lifting nearly half of Aliens beat for beat in Army of the Dead was a one off of brazenness. But no, you'll have seen many scenes in this elsewhere too.
I thought it couldn't be that bad, but it's worse than I imagined. Literally every 3 minutes there is a moment so fricking dumb that regular movies are lucky to have 1 such moment, but the plot moving along is predicated on everyone being clinically moronic.
yeah it's very very poorly written
but it's got enough heart and charlie hunnam steals the movie so its not all bad
worth the watch if only to shitpost with your bros
>"I know a guy" >travel to planet with guy >recruit guy extremely conveniently with little resistance after a slow mo action scene >guy does nothing the entire rest of the film
repeat x5
>give more character development to a robot only at the start, and a spider monster that dies in the same scene it's introduced than all your actual squad recruits
>and a spider monster
that sequence made zero fricking sense, looked terrible
why was the witch a sword ninja instead of you know a fricking witch with mind-powers or spells
fricking moronic missed opportunity, but hey thats the film
>that sequence made zero fricking sense
Was also the worst time to introduce this world's lightsabers. Instead of getting anything sophisticated that could challenge the aethetics of Lucas' fantasy weapon, we got a hag cutting the floor for no reason whatsoever.
I wonder if anyone else felt the movie was a unique rollercoaster of woke, realistic, woke again.
Like, we start off with a typical Snyder wide shot of her ploughing the field, looks kinda epic, followed by her being a girlboss to the farmer. Next we pretend she's a desirable woman, followed by her being completely mogged by the blonde girl, Sam. She beats up trained soldiers, next she's helpless and has to wait for the robot to save the day. Weird pattern.
the script is unmitigated mess
it's a literal seven samurai remake
yet it seems snyder grasped ZERO nuance from the 1954 film and manages to miss every meaningful beat
imagine having 70 years to improve on the formula and then getting mogged by the original in every fricking metric
>the script is unmitigated mess >it's a literal seven samurai remake
Yea, it's got nothing on Kurasawa, not even the Hollywood remake with Yul Brynner.
I'd argue it's mainly because of the "not Han Solo"-plot that dominates in retrospect. Maybe that's just me, but at no point did I care enough about anyone involved to care for the betrayal that seemed so crucial to the final confrontation. Instead of building a world where truly selfish, opportunistic acts make sense, we had this sting of Mary Sue-ish "it works out" events that made the whole thing just trite.

I thought charlie hunnam and his character were the strongest characterization in the entire film
it had the han solo meets toshiro mufune thing going on and he's charasmatic enough to make it work
too bad his character was wasted on this awful script
Snyder doesn't know how to write. He works best when he has a writer and a producer who's on his back making sure he's hitting all the marks. That's when we got Dawn of the Dead and 300, his 2, by far, best movies.
And prevents him from just recreating a bunch of other films he saw and calling it deep and profound. Instead he just has to recreate one book or comic, and thus his penchant for surface level recreations can be mildly useful, provided the source material is good.
No, Netflix will just say Rebel Moon was the number 1 minutes streamed movie of the Christmas weekend, we can't wait for Rebel Moon Part 2 and Rebel Moon 2 Part 1 and Rebel Moon 2 Part 2, and also Rebel Moon Part 1 Extended and Rebel Moon Part 2 Extended and Rebel Moon 2 Part 1 Extended and Rebel Moon 2 Part 2 Extended, take our money Mr. Snyder, and Snyder will grunt and pick up his bone club and bash at a camera to make it remember the moving wall paintings like it did before
I will be buying the Extended Cut blu-ray box set the minute it comes out and there's nothing you or anyone else can do to stop me. The deal might as well already be done.
>characterization is shit, don't know anything about any of these people
Oh no, Kai the lovable rogue betrayed everyone! Why the frick would I care since Kai had basically 0 scenes or development with anyone else. The only scene we had was right before the betrayal with Kai and Kora. Where Kai "finally" gave up his selfish goals and decided to join the squad. But what the frick was all that about since NOTHING BUILT UP TO IT. >main character can't act for shit
The scene where Kora "convinces" general Titus to join them. The scene is obviously written like shit, but look at the difference between these two actors. Holy frick. >action is DOGSHIT
The one thing Snyder is supposed to get right. Every single action scene has obvious faults. Why the frick are you showing me again and again the protagonist in a situation where the bad guy is pointing a gun at her with a clear shot. Why aren't they shooting her?! Why is this in slow motion? To underscore the stupidity of the director?
FRICK. And I could easily write 10 more reasons why this piece of shit sucked ass. Why can't we ever have anything good. Does Zack hold like a copy of the Epstein logs or something? How many fricking chances are they going to give to this absolute moron.
it had great cinematography
terrible script
very inconsistent vfx and awful cgi backgrounds
good to great performances, weird casting
the bones were there could have been legit great
It just looks and feels way too much like Star Wars to me. Visually it needed something different. Remove the Droids, remove the lightsaber looking daggers. Come up with a brand new weapon that is completely different
too many scenes that get resolved in like 10 minutes and the random characters they recruit are just like “yeah, sure I’ll join you” with no convincing whatsoever
Enough. Snyder is completely broken by his daughter death and woke Hollywood. Watching or discussing his movies is like eating disgusting underbaked cupcake made by a baker with down syndrome. You aren't clever by insulting his work and your'e not a smart contrarian by pretending to enjoy them.
This shit felt awkward from the start, like the movie skipped the first 15 minutes or so. The jarring way in which the villagers speak, saying 'this community' instead of the actual name of the village, the weird way in which the bad guy's entourage and peasants followed each other into the longhouse, them only mentioning how the 'father' was killed - and not his wife getting sliced too. The comically evil soldiers and their 'boss', again another weirdly casual way to refer to their squad leader in what is supposed to be a brutal empire. There's no reason to care about any of them, one guy was mentioned as the best hunter or something, what was even the point?
yeah the awful 'soldiers' doing shit soldiers just don't do and bullshit dialogue in that sequence was juvenile
so offputting and poorly done, it immediately took em out of the world
Juvenile is the right word, yes. Maybe their behavior would make sense for conscripted convicts, but I'm pretty sure it was mentioned later on how every man on that ship is an elite soldier.
I can't believe we got an unironic "Now I will threaten you....but actually I kill the other guy!" scene, and drawn out at that.
I don't think I've laughed more times during any movie, it's a great unintentional comedy at the very least.
>but I'm pretty sure it was mentioned later on how every man on that ship is an elite soldier.
they set up the villians as this unstoppable elite ruthless force, and they sit around threatening each other and bickering like morons, it neuters the fricking point and makes them comical and not to be taken seriously
awful writing
it would have been so much better if they were disciplined and uncaring
On one hand, there'll be nothing to do for the three working days at office next week, so I'd like to be able to shitpost about this, on the other hand, I do assume I won't like it.
What should I do? I also have prepared for me The Hunt for the Red October for tonight.
Since you are the first to give me a (you), I will watch it. Pirating, though, despite the fact I do have Netflix, just like I did with the Witcher. Not giving this clicks. Not necessarily because I assume I won't like it, but because unlike with the theater release, there is no bloody reason to have two cuts of this. No fricking reason.
Stop being a homosexual and give Zack the click he deserves. The movie isn't even pozzed despite what the seethig haters will tell you otherwise and there's no troony's or homosexuals in it. And it's not reddit with fricking cringe quips everywhere. Zack deserves a click for those two points alone.
>Slowing the playback down to .001 speed and advancing it frame by frame looking for trannies.
You have to admire the effort.

So when you said "there's no troony is or homosexuals in it" you meant "there are troony is or homosexuals in it but they're not main characters"?

If you have to slow the playback down to negative earthworm speed and do a forensic analysis to find the troonys its not really pozzed. Just sayin.
It's not like the MCU where they literally stop the movie to do a full frame widescreen shot of two grown black men kissing as husband and wife.
Don't even pretend like it's remotely the same thing.

A forensic analysis? So you just decided this character isn't a character? You would be reasonable on the basis of they receive no development, but that's true of all the characters except maybe the robot.

A butch warrior chick with short hair does not make a movie pozzed.
In a lesser movie, like Yidsney movie, they would take a moment to show her holding hands with her female lover and they would touch foreheads and her mate would cry as she went off to battle. That totally didn't happen. She's completely sexless. And sex is the core of the alphabet crowds being, the end all and be all. Which isn't isn't there with that character. So no.

I don't give a shit about our semantics. Haters have no power to sack the Zack.
Watch it, and come back to us to talk about it. No you won't like it. But you'll get to partake in shitflinging with Cinemaphile and that's always fun.

Should have been the main character to be honest. Immediately had an established internal conflict to explore, has a good actor able to deliver clunky dialogue, and robots grappling with emotions and wants are a potent source of pathos in sci-fi. How often has a robot been the best character in a sci-fi media? Quite often I'd say.

Hollywood has ruined female leads for me, I just can’t anymore. It worked in hunger games for the last time I think, after that I just can’t take it seriously.. I know I’m gonna get California politicos shoved down my throat
Exclusively women. Hilariously despite being the opposite of a communist/socialist in most aspects it seems to be the women that sleep with me most frequently. Last month I banged a chick that hated men so much she would literally hit me on my arm (she’s 100lbs I couldn’t care less) randomly because “I’m a man and I remind her of how much “we” are to blame for all the worlds problems. But then she’d be shoving my dick down her throat, ask me to choke her during sex and to frick her in the ass as hard as possible, and then she’d snuggle with me for like 5 minutes before again remembering how men are to blame for all her problems. It was pretty funny in hindsight how fricking moronic women can be
I expected way way worse to be honest. It's obvious how much copied from Star Wars and Seven Samurais is on here, but the resemblance of the Soviet Union Commies with the Romanov and the Holodomor 5 years plan of grain were such a surprise.
The rest is obvious an United Colors of Benetton cast against the force of evil, but they fight against communist at least not nazis le bad over and over. Robot needed way more screentime.
7/10 will watch second part, thanks for reading my blog.
Just finished watching this and it's complete shit, all the time, money and effort was expending on the sets, costumes and SFX and literally zero effort on the story. It's a tv show made for Chinese viewers.
zack, please go. no one is going to watch your style-over-substance slop any longer.
WATCH ME MOVIE! homosexual!!!
I already watched it twice and I'm somebody. You can't sack the Zack.
i'm gonna grab a pizza and watch the Snyder kino right now
and there's nothing you can do to stop me, bloody b***h bastard
Lol, so forced. You can’t force fun kiddo. You will be bored

I watched Endgame once because it was so meh. I've already watched this twice since it came out.
>I've already watched this twice since it came out.
Why? It's shit
because this is 4/10 goyslop
good goy. listen to the critics.
i watched it, it's a solid 4/10. That's a lot higher than the critics gave it.
>That's a lot higher than the critics gave it.
idk, I just watched the movie and dont care about critics.
This isn't good and only snyder fanboys would defend it.
It's somehow more derivative than your average marvel movie.
>snyder fanboys
These don't exist. There's only people that hate Snyder and people that don't care.
I think Snyder did have fanboys. After Watchmen, Cinemaphile thought he was a visionary. After Man of Steel and BvS, a lot of people still defended him here. After Army of the Dead, a lot of once Snyder fans are pretending they never were.
Avengers made sense and featured a logical ending to a series of films. Rebel Moon does not meet that basic requirement.

For something to be woke, it must be didactic. It needs to try to educate you, or at least the authors had the intention of educating you.
Just e.g. having a troony or being about trannies, doesn't make something woke.
It taught me that white people are bad and non-whites are good.
I'm sure you enforce this requirement equally with all the films and shows not directed by Zack Snyder.
I do.
I am always reminded of Amazon's Transparent. Very much about trannies, but I have never thought about it as woke.
I expected way way worse to be honest. It's obvious how much copied from Star Wars and Seven Samurais is on here, but the resemblance of the Soviet Union Commies with the Romanov and the Holodomor 5 years plan of grain were such a surprise.
