I liked how nothing really happened plot wise. Just a small look into lives of two people down in life meeting each other, perhaps could have been soul mates, but that wasn't meant to be. Still they share this momentary connection before saying goodbye and pushing on with life.
Thank frick they never tried to make a sequel or anything of them meeting up again. Would have undermined the entire film.
Why was she mad at him that he didn't have sex with her, therefore making her cheat on her husband? The temptation was obviously there but he fricked some other b***h instead saving her from that potentially catastrophic situation. I get being somewhat upset that he fricked someone other than her but she should also be greatful that it wasn't allowed to happen.
She wasn't upset about the lack of dick in her, she was upset that some other women got his attention for a while. That was HER attention and some other b***h stole it!
In my 29 years of life I have only met somone with as strong and meaningful connection 3 times. It's something that you never forget, but you also have to let it go.
this movie alongside Sideways is my favorite movie to watch when life feels melancholic.
Both movies depict sad and lonely lives in a way, but there is also beauty hope and redemption in it, if you look.
Ya I got an old girlfriend who is like that. Thank god we both married other people it would be like the fricking jerry springer show if we were together. The strongest bonds are sometimes the most toxic. Your animal brain tells you one thing reality is different.
This movie gave me a modern existential crisis
I'll never get to experience a pre-social media Japan
Everything has been mapped, cataloged, photographed, and documented over and over again
There's no more mystique or wonder in much of the world
I'll never step off a plane in Tokyo and wander around a foreign land trying to make my way through
I'll never encounter another foreigner in a similar situation and we share a unique warm companionship
Everything can be translated via app. Other tourists are on Instagram. Every restaurant is rated on Google maps.
There's no more unknown in the Orient

You can literally just not look at these things and everything would still be unknown to you, moron.
I would have had her sucking my dick on the first day the old dude was a beta homosexual

Don't think Sofia is the type to make Sequels in general. Maybe she hasn't been offered a big sum of money for it yet.

It's still the comfiest film I've ever seen.
It's a passive aggressive Sophia Coppola movie. Maybe her and Spike finally got it out of their system, they stopped making movies.

you're really overthinking things man, there's still plenty to explore.
Cinematic equivalent to an inside joke.
