I wonder what Joyce thought of this?
Also, this is the first I knew that they were ever in correspondence. James Joyce and HP Lovecraft seem worlds away
Actually has a certain Lovecraftian aspect. New 52 - human gets merged/transformed by super advanced technology of a godlike alien race. Original - inter-dimensional research sees a creature emerge, human gets injured and through abnornal science gets turned into a half-man/half-machine.
>A pity Dr. Fate
There are three problems with Doctor Fate. Firstly, DC has never really done anything that substantive with him. Secondly, rather than sticking to Kent Nelson they have muddled it with Erica & Linda Strauss, Hector Hall, Kent V. Nelson, Khalid and that time in the 1990s there was that guy going by 'Fate'. Thirdly, it also doesn't help that there is no agreement on what wearing the Helmet entails: the wearer fully in control, Nabu in control, wearer & Nabu merged?

Mention of Doctor Fate, I feel the Lords of Chaos and Order have a certain Lovecraftian aspect.

Some of Swamp-Thing has a certain Lovecraftian vibe.
The Parliament of Trees is very lovecraftian for sure.
Daily reminder Julius Schwartz was Lovecraft’s agent and Starro is an homage to him. Also Felix Faust mentions the Necronomicon in his first appearance a couple of issues later.
Huh, never knew that.
I really need to read up on my DC history. I know a lot about Marvel, but on the Distinguished Competition I'm a blank. Are there any good books on them or something?
There are no Lovecraftian entities in either DC or Marvel. Lovecraft's concepts are antithetical to comic book superhero concepts. If Cthulhu himself appears, he ceases to be Lovecraftian.
>cyborg

Syththunu.
>Lovecraftian monsters are just angry blobs with tentacles
Must be one of the retard gods, stuck in the retard dimension with its retarded pipers.
isn't Cthulhu Aquaman's bitch?
The Fish-Men of Nyarl-Amen
A pity Dr. Fate got stuck with the Egyptian stuff (even if he was originally Mesopotamian), he really seems suited to deal with lovecraftian lore.

So that’s why Starro first lands in Rhode Island.

The Shade is more Oscar Wilde, but he sometimes noodles around in Lovecraftian places.
One of Swamp Thing's most notable non-Arcane villains in M'Nagalah, who claims to have inspired Lovecraft.
Yes
Some of the lords of chaos are right up there.
Also the revamp of Karkull from the DCAU.
With a face like that, do you think Howard got bullied a lot in school?
I think in the DCAU the tanagarians basically worshipped a chutchullu like god entity. Is clearly inspired by it.
Isn't it just named Cthulon?

That's even worse
