Originally set in the Raimiverse
It would have to be set in the 80s for that to be true, right? Seems like they were going for Andrew Garfield's universe.
Incorrect.
Sony wanted it set in the Venom/Morbius Universe which was supposed to be interconnected into Hollands Spider-Verse of the MCU but then Sony changed Morbius in post production so they could interconnect it and Venom into Garfields Spider-Verse and Madame Webb was supposed to be on an alternate earth of Garfields Spider-Man where Garfield was still playing Spider-Man cause of MCU going into the Multiverse Phase
Sadly they are 10 years later for that
so Peter was 10 years old in the first Spider-Man movie?
what how did they even do that.
They just added 50 million more in pajeetCGI so they could swindle more money from this sca— I mean movie. Make movie better.
The official explanation for this was that they wanted to integrate it with Spidey universe but they picked the wrong one so the timeline didn’t make sense with Tom Holland spidey.
Yes it’s that moronic. They wasted millions on cgi and reshoots because they were indecisive and/or couldn’t count.
For a Madam Web movie.
With no Spiderman.
In which the spider-women never become spider-women.
Just normal Snoy things.
>what how did they even do that
With the worlds best CGI artists of course
WTF IS GOING ON HERE
DID THEY FORGET TO FILM SHOTS AND SAID FRICK IT EDITING WILL FIX IT?
the trick to saving a gunshot victim is to whiplash them around as hard as possible
were there 3 spider guys? what the frick was that
spider guys come from spider in junble before smider man guy get bit by spider from junble but also it magic spider which see future but only sometimes and spider man spider junble from genetic engineering radiavtive spider man spider not junble spider man spider ok?
Why did underdressed tribal people suddenly become ok to have in movies again in 2019 despite the ideology that took them away being more powerful than ever
The SJWs only get offended by African jungle people, not by South American jungle people.
Honest to God, my faith in humanity is lower than my faith in fricking chimps at this point. We're so fricking hopelessly goddamn fricking moronic.
The first 80% of that clip is all practical (well, the sky/tree canopy in certain shots is probably CG, but whatever) but still looks terrible. The filmmaking all around is cheap, not just the fake shit.
>TRIBAL SPIDERMEN THAT HAVE SUITS MADE OF VINES
What the frick is this
Borderline experimental
Lool
WE
Why didn't the mystical indigenous spider-men take out the bad dude before he shot everyone instead of showing up after? And why didn't they get him after he shot everyone and stole the spider? They just let him get away and become a billionaire who keeps Alta-Vistaing teenage girls
does free will exist in a post morbius, post madame websters english dictionary cinematic universe?
I know decent cinematographers don't, holy shit Madame Web is such a fever dream of bad cuts and constant circling
>tribal spider-men
This movie is so schizo that it could be accidental kino. The ADHD editing adds to it
God I can't wait for AI to put these talentless hacks out of business
A movie Sony shit out to keep the rights to Spider-Man.
They just made a movie
they really didn't even try with this dumpster fire lol it's like 90's fantastic 4 levels of half assed
this and the last sony / marvel flick feel like tax fraud. Its too broken to be a legitimate attempt at a film. Someones making millions hiding dirty money with these movies.
is it that unthinkable that they are THAT incompetent? They've been hiring morons and unis have been graduating morons for years so of course they rise through the ranks.
from a pure business standpoint yes, it doesn't add up that the top brass wouldn't be crucifying whoever was green lighting these heaps of shit if it wasn't fraud.
Anon, we're seeing Hollywood studios dying in real time. They likely don't even see how bad it is, but if you step back the long term is that everything is going to be owned by Apple, Amazon, Netflix, and a handful of other tech companies.
The diversity rules mean they hire unqualified morons and these idiots rise through the top. They now make up the majority of middle to upper management in these companies and it's mostly clueless white women. These women have no idea what appeals to audiences, and make movies according to their ideals about what films should be (strongk empowered women) and I'm fairly certain they would have no interest in watching it themselves.
Some companies like Sony are just doubly incompetent on top of that. It's a total shit show.
Go read the Sony email leaks about how Spiderman should listen to dubstep right now. That’s their top people in the emails. They’re clinically moronic, they can’t even operate a keyboard and send emails let alone have ideas that aren’t made of poop.
the worst part of the Sony email leak to me will always be the persistent, carefully written and polite emails from Rooney Mara asking if they were going to do another Dragon Tattoo movie because she really liked being in it
it didn't even feel like career desperation (she's a billionaire heiress married to Joaquin Phoenix irl) just that she was genuinely emotionally fixated on that movie and she deserved it just for that
;_;
she was honestly really good in the role. didn’t even think the movie was that good, but she killed it.
Why didn't they make more? It was critically well received and turned a small profit. I hate Sony so much
Read the email leaks. It underperformed their expectations and the marketing cost them shitloads because the razor posters Fincher requested all had to be recalled for safety issues.
>razor posters
this is the first I'm hearing of this and it's an entire new laugh
>y'know what will help sell our movie?
>razor blades with its poster printed on them
>what could possibly go wrong from a liability standpoint
thank you Sony
edgy
Imagine if movies were made because people were passionate about the stories and characters...
I will never forgive them for this. Frick Amy Pascal
Spot of dandruff.
/ourgirl/
It sucked and was tripe
I remember reading one about how Gareth Edwards wanted to make a Golgo 13 movie.
I think the worst of the Sony leaks was they wanted a a my little pony movie where they go to a universe with live action humans like those Smurf movies, even though there was already had a second universe of humans they went to.
but man some of that spiderman stuff was a close second
what email leak? i havent heard about it until now, links??
the "north Korean" hack back in 2014-5. just google Sony hack 2014
Anon, that was ten fricking years ago. Surely things have changed since then. Right?
....right?
But Sony films have always been trash
So has the MCU, you bottom homosexual.
They're both shit. You're a massive homosexual for trying to turn this into capeshit company wars you fricking loser.
Sony is part of the “handshake” club.
They have to do certain types of films due to the rules of the handshake club.
Female led superhero films, primarily starring females, seems to be one of the requirements.
The handshake club knows these films will fail, or at least likely fail, but their club rules require the films to be made, and made with certain elements.
What elements?
Years ago my parents were gifted $45k in Disney stocks by a family friend for my university fund. We used to get these big binders full of questionnaires once in a while, full of stuff corporate was focus grouping. We never did them, this was like 15 years ago, but i wonder if they still send those questionnaires out?
>Years ago my parents were gifted $45k in Disney stocks
Thats gotta suck
they were liquidated for school long ago so i dont bother mulling over that sort of thing.
Madame web is the beginning of the incompetency crisis?
It's not incompetence. It's a coincidence as Chappelle said
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollywood_accounting
>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollywood_accounting
No, you dumb dumbs. I know that shit in and out. Hollywood accounting is where they shift money around internal divisions to create an offiical loss on paper so that they can screw over people for payment. It has nothing to do with the overall performance. And when challenged Hollywood Accounting has never stood up in the courts, you just have to be willing to fight the case for several years.
Investors have actual power, and lawyers, and will sue companies for doing tricky accounting. They have to be clean to their lawyers, but play games with actors and employees.
No, you don't know at all what you're talkign about.
t. C.P.A.
You gonna give us the real definition, then?
>what the FRICK is this movie
a hot f-ing mess and disaster
source?
>what the FRICK is this movie
Dakota Johnson giving a masterclass in troll/comedic line reads when the rest of the cast (save Adam Scott) thought they were actually in a serious movie.
>when the rest of the cast (save Adam Scott) thought they were actually in a serious movie
Nah, Sweeney and Moner wasn't even trying. Feels like the only ones who actually tried to wring something out of their material were the black girl and Ezekiel.
So like how Raul was compared to Van Damme in Street Fighter?
what is your source on that?
It was a solid movie. 9.5/10
Debunked
>Q: I feel a great deal of existential dread because of the fact that movies set in 2003 are now considered to be period pieces. What made you and your collaborators place this story in that particular year?
>A: (Laughs.) Well, I was sent the script with 2003 in it, and like you, I remember someone saying to me, “Hey, 2003 is vintage.” And I was like, “What do you mean? I remember 2003. I lived 2003. Does that make me vintage?” So, apparently, yes, we are vintage, but it’s back in. We should run with it.
whole interview: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-features/madame-web-has-no-post-credits-scene-1235824034/
I'm not reading that shit unless you pay me
> Well, I was sent the script with 2003 in it
Implies there were more versions?
Release the Schneider cut
Obviously. Scripts for movies like this get rewrites and edits all the time.
Of course. The movie has 5 credited writers
>Female directors
Imagine what they make their production assistants do.
>A film director's errand boy is commonly referred to as a "production assistant" (PA) in the film industry. PAs are entry-level positions and their duties can vary widely, but often include running errands, assisting departments with various tasks, facilitating communication across the set, and doing whatever is necessary to ensure that the production runs smoothly.
It’s only February and we’ve got this year’s Golden Razzie locked up. Amazing.
That's what they said when Argylle came out.
sounds like they took the worst aspects of sony capeshit but without even any superhero action. its like theyve gotten even dumber since those email leaks
So I’m confused. Sony stated that they wanted an All-female spider-man movie spinoff but they originally stated it was supposed to be Gwen and other Spider-Women from Spider-verse, was it retooled into this? Was the original plan scrapped after they decided to make SV into a trilogy?
A Spider-Gwen movie where Gwen were confirmed trans would be the shitposting event of the year.
post tummies
the fact Raimi managed to make two good movies with these morons shows how good he is. shame they still fricked up spiderman 3
Spider man 3 is the best one
compared to the slop we've been getting recently spiderman 3 is great
You have to realize that most of the regime has changed from those days
theres still two producers making the current spiderman shit that produced the raimi movies
Despite how awful the writing was I didn't completely hate it. I'd rather watch this than Argylle or Morbius, which isn't saying much but I have seen a few reviews comparing them
>Beat it's 6 day opening projections
Webchads we can't stop winning
>we predicted that 10 peepol would watch it.
>the projectionist saw it as well
Stay mad loser. That's 25mil more than you will ever make
? didn't this movie lose a shitload of money?
I'm pretty sure I could bang together a youtube video or a ticky tocky which would make more money than this film, since if I earn a single cent, i'm 300000000% up.
Do it, loser.
I've heard that Sony planned this movie to fail and them losing money is good for them.
Sonby pill me please.
Madame Web was screened in March/April 2023 on the Sony Lot for Sony employees. It was absolutely thrashed at that screening and the audience was telling the film makers present that it was awful. So they've known this for at least ten months. Also Kraven is dogshit to no one's surprise.
t. Culver City local
Kraven is in this movie?
No.
Damn I'm Kraven some Kraven you get what I mean?
You saw a screening of the Kraven movie too?
No.
So there's hope yet.
I saw Kraven last year.
It was mid.
At least the action is better than Madame Web and you have Russell Crowe chewing the scenery.
tell us more, did they reshoot something after or before that?
Which is why they disconnected it from their main SSU of films and explains why no 2nd trailer, this film was put out to die.
It might be a way to get production material off the books.
If Sony sownt money at some point developing dpin off material to their Spiderman films, that material would not be able to be written off for tax credits, unless completely destroyed, or turned into an actual film, and released.
Once released, all the production costs Sony can tie yo the film, including various scripts, could then be considered as used for the film.
This could also explain the supposed 1990s original setting.(a spin off of Spiderman was planned, and script work done, but no film ever made)
I hate this heroes in the past and never brought up in any movie because it was never thought of. like where the frick have you been all this time and you didn't help in any major event.
>The past
The past for who though? They have no idea what they're doing
Amy Pascal is a borderline moron that early-life'd her way to the top of a film studio.
Kind of, but her first project was River's Edge.
This didn't even feel like a movie. Felt like a failed CW pilot.
how dare you besmirch the good name of the CW
What does that even mean in practice? They added 3D Doritos and CGI'd out their CGI'd-in World Trade Center?
Budget : $80 million
Opening "weekend" (long ass weekend) : $51 million
The second week drop off is going to be crazy.
Didn’t they spend a shit load on marketing? I heard that at some point in the last few days, don’t know if it’s true.
>25 mill domestic after opening with no competition over a four day weekend+ including President's Day AND the biggest date night in the States Valentine's Day
Very impressive
Wont be bigger than the historic the marvels 2nd weekend drop bet.
The fact that these two were in a movie together and didn't french kiss is a shame.
Why did they do that?
There, I just posted everything worthwhile about this movie.
The whole movie had a really weird lesbian pedo grooming energy to it, especially between Dakota and Sweeney, and even that failed to be enticing in any way.
https://www.twitch.tv/madameweb247
Sony hasn't even bothered to take these down yet
Someone needs to setup the delgo 247 livestream again.
The chest compressions practice scene needed them in tanktops or something.
cringe
I’ve seen mixed things about Dakota in this, but how was Sydney?
Also she was at the people’s choice awards tonight
Schoolgirl outfit for the whole thing (her spider suit gets MAYBE 20 seconds of screentime, not joking). If you like thighs there's a scene where she dances on a table and a quick upskirt angle as she's climbing the stairs out of a subway station. Also a few shots where one of the other girls ties up the bottom of her shirt to show off in front of the local urban youth.
Nice, that’s pretty hilarious that she’s never in her suit. I guess they were hoping for a sequel?
I actually kind of liked that none of them got their superpowers during the movie. It made the action more like Terminator where it was all about how to outrun the villain instead of just slapping each other back and forth with the same powers like they did in Venom and Morbius. It's not to say the action was good, but at least it was different.
But yeah, we get two short premonition scenes (one at the beginning, one at the end) of the spider women that are so quick cut we barely see any of their costumes.
>Schoolgirl outfit for the whole thing (her spider suit gets MAYBE 20 seconds of screentime, not joking). If you like thighs there's a scene where she dances on a table and a quick upskirt angle as she's climbing the stairs
Ordinarily this would make it a must watch for me
But of course it HAD to be in Madame Web
unfortunate feet and fat ankles...
dakota got much nicer feet
Sydney has amazing feet. You’re blind
Watch the clips of her in the Britney tribute outfit and avoid the rest of the film
She never stops with the kino
God bless Sydney.
It's a new kind of marvel movie that must be seen in the big screen. 9.5/10
>me at the plex
This left me with massive blue balls.
just the bluest of blue.
Might it be better to work out what you want your movie to be before you start filming?
>Early 90’s
Da frick
Choosing this nepo baby as your lead
Homosexual detected
I've always loved this film. But 13 years ago, I married a Bulgarian girl who was 12 when the wall came down and 13 when communism fell in her country. This film carries so much more weight with her than I could ever fathom. She cries tears of joy every time she watches it, regardless of the version. It wasn't just a symbol of German reunification. It was a beacon for an entire generation of kids, teens, and young adults who emerged from behind the Iron Curtain to join the rest of their generation. We in the West have always had the view that we won the Cold War, when in fact, it was the people living behind the Iron Curtain who won. And this film is their most cherished victory.
A daring synthesis!
I can never decide if Dakota is hot or ugly
Morbius chads have been redeemed
>25mil over 6 days
Is this shit even going to make 100mil worldwide?
Probably not. Everyone knows it’s shit by now
Depends on how exponential the dropoff rate is but probably not, I'd guess 80 mill. This is an expertly shitty film
>Three teenagers, including an illegal immigrant, the daughter of a wealthy politician and a girl with a family history of mental illness, are allowed to move in with a disabled blind ex-paramedic that was previously accused of kidnapping them, and now presents them to the public as her daughters.
Most unbelievable part of a movie that has mystical Peruvian spider-people as a plot point.
She kept stealing cars and getting away with it too and in the mid-2000s they actually cared about that sort of thing in New York
I like how she went to Peru and back and was still driving her stolen taxi.
To be fair I was a little drunk and went to the bathroom I barely noticed she went to Peru I just remember suddenly she was talking to secret indigenous Spider-Man
that was hands down the best part. The whole peru section must have been some kind of reshoots or after thought.
The negress looks like she's 10 years old. I would never recognise that as Moner and in fact she looks like a mulatto
>I eat math for breakfast
Explains how she keeps that tight tummy
STEM pandering finally hood for something
I get how she went blind, but what caused her to need the wheel chair?
The massive fall into the water? That part is coming up again.
I think she gets crushed by something in one of the final scenes but it's edited so poorly and over so fast it's hard to tell
She stopped taking the serum
IM GONNA WEB BROS, IM WEBBING!!!
Sony makes anti-kino.
It wasn't always like this but in the mid 2000s their management did a 180 and they've been on that "cringe kino" grind ever since.
Thanks Nic! Very buzzworthy and cool
-Amy
*sent from my Xperia*
Cringe kino? Like it's so bad it's fascinating? I can see it
It's a new kind of marvel movie that must be seen in the big screen. 9.5/10
Wait this is out? What the frick? Did it ever get advertised?
It's a new kind of marvel movie that must be seen in the big screen. 9.5/10
Post the scene were the editing makes it look like she is saving herself.
It's a new kind of marvel movie that must be seen in the big screen. 9.5/10
Cassandra is a c**t. Which is understandable considering the circumstances. But it's not endearing.
Yah know... there's the bones of something here, but it needs more heart and more spectacle. Cassandra needs more one on one time with each girl, and they all need more development. PLUS Ezekial should have been the author of his own demise, his threatening the girls could have lead to them seeking the spider he stole to get their powers, only they can't master the power before he kills them, which requires Cassandra to sacrifice herself to save them. As it is, they are barely background characters. It's CW "I was just a barista" tier. And we needed more Sydney midriff in the diner! AND SOME CLEAVAGE!
honestly, mostly my thoughts too. It's not a bad premise and it doesn't do it enough. I would have liked more visions and something to show us they are visions and not seem so much like time travel.
Weird to think that with a little more time in the oven it could have been watchable.
I don't think there's anything wrong with this movie that a nice healthy dose of tentacle rape wouldn't solve. That would guarantee box office draw right there.
