      Incorrect.

Sony wanted it set in the Venom/Morbius Universe which was supposed to be interconnected into Hollands Spider-Verse of the MCU but then Sony changed Morbius in post production so they could interconnect it and Venom into Garfields Spider-Verse and Madame Webb was supposed to be on an alternate earth of Garfields Spider-Man where Garfield was still playing Spider-Man cause of MCU going into the Multiverse Phase

Anon, we're seeing Hollywood studios dying in real time. They likely don't even see how bad it is, but if you step back the long term is that everything is going to be owned by Apple, Amazon, Netflix, and a handful of other tech companies.

The diversity rules mean they hire unqualified morons and these idiots rise through the top. They now make up the majority of middle to upper management in these companies and it's mostly clueless white women. These women have no idea what appeals to audiences, and make movies according to their ideals about what films should be (strongk empowered women) and I'm fairly certain they would have no interest in watching it themselves.

Some companies like Sony are just doubly incompetent on top of that. It's a total shit show.

Sony is part of the “handshake” club.
They have to do certain types of films due to the rules of the handshake club.
Female led superhero films, primarily starring females, seems to be one of the requirements.
The handshake club knows these films will fail, or at least likely fail, but their club rules require the films to be made, and made with certain elements.

No, you dumb dumbs. I know that shit in and out. Hollywood accounting is where they shift money around internal divisions to create an offiical loss on paper so that they can screw over people for payment. It has nothing to do with the overall performance. And when challenged Hollywood Accounting has never stood up in the courts, you just have to be willing to fight the case for several years.

Investors have actual power, and lawyers, and will sue companies for doing tricky accounting. They have to be clean to their lawyers, but play games with actors and employees.

    Debunked
    >Q: I feel a great deal of existential dread because of the fact that movies set in 2003 are now considered to be period pieces. What made you and your collaborators place this story in that particular year?
    >A: (Laughs.) Well, I was sent the script with 2003 in it, and like you, I remember someone saying to me, “Hey, 2003 is vintage.” And I was like, “What do you mean? I remember 2003. I lived 2003. Does that make me vintage?” So, apparently, yes, we are vintage, but it’s back in. We should run with it.

Madame Web was screened in March/April 2023 on the Sony Lot for Sony employees. It was absolutely thrashed at that screening and the audience was telling the film makers present that it was awful. So they've known this for at least ten months. Also Kraven is dogshit to no one's surprise.

It might be a way to get production material off the books.
If Sony sownt money at some point developing dpin off material to their Spiderman films, that material would not be able to be written off for tax credits, unless completely destroyed, or turned into an actual film, and released.
Once released, all the production costs Sony can tie yo the film, including various scripts, could then be considered as used for the film.
This could also explain the supposed 1990s original setting.(a spin off of Spiderman was planned, and script work done, but no film ever made)

The fact that these two were in a movie together and didn't french kiss is a shame.

The whole movie had a really weird lesbian pedo grooming energy to it, especially between Dakota and Sweeney, and even that failed to be enticing in any way.

I’ve seen mixed things about Dakota in this, but how was Sydney?

Also she was at the people’s choice awards tonight

Schoolgirl outfit for the whole thing (her spider suit gets MAYBE 20 seconds of screentime, not joking). If you like thighs there's a scene where she dances on a table and a quick upskirt angle as she's climbing the stairs out of a subway station. Also a few shots where one of the other girls ties up the bottom of her shirt to show off in front of the local urban youth.

Nice, that’s pretty hilarious that she’s never in her suit. I guess they were hoping for a sequel?

I actually kind of liked that none of them got their superpowers during the movie. It made the action more like Terminator where it was all about how to outrun the villain instead of just slapping each other back and forth with the same powers like they did in Venom and Morbius. It's not to say the action was good, but at least it was different.
But yeah, we get two short premonition scenes (one at the beginning, one at the end) of the spider women that are so quick cut we barely see any of their costumes.

I've always loved this film. But 13 years ago, I married a Bulgarian girl who was 12 when the wall came down and 13 when communism fell in her country. This film carries so much more weight with her than I could ever fathom. She cries tears of joy every time she watches it, regardless of the version. It wasn't just a symbol of German reunification. It was a beacon for an entire generation of kids, teens, and young adults who emerged from behind the Iron Curtain to join the rest of their generation. We in the West have always had the view that we won the Cold War, when in fact, it was the people living behind the Iron Curtain who won. And this film is their most cherished victory.

    >Three teenagers, including an illegal immigrant, the daughter of a wealthy politician and a girl with a family history of mental illness, are allowed to move in with a disabled blind ex-paramedic that was previously accused of kidnapping them, and now presents them to the public as her daughters.

Most unbelievable part of a movie that has mystical Peruvian spider-people as a plot point.

that was hands down the best part. The whole peru section must have been some kind of reshoots or after thought.

Cassandra is a c**t. Which is understandable considering the circumstances. But it's not endearing.

  48. 4 months ago
    Anonymous

Yah know... there's the bones of something here, but it needs more heart and more spectacle. Cassandra needs more one on one time with each girl, and they all need more development. PLUS Ezekial should have been the author of his own demise, his threatening the girls could have lead to them seeking the spider he stole to get their powers, only they can't master the power before he kills them, which requires Cassandra to sacrifice herself to save them. As it is, they are barely background characters. It's CW "I was just a barista" tier. And we needed more Sydney midriff in the diner! AND SOME CLEAVAGE!

honestly, mostly my thoughts too. It's not a bad premise and it doesn't do it enough. I would have liked more visions and something to show us they are visions and not seem so much like time travel.

I don't think there's anything wrong with this movie that a nice healthy dose of tentacle rape wouldn't solve. That would guarantee box office draw right there.
