Watch his Robin Hood movie. Then watch The Last Duel. He fell off ages ago.

Ridley is obviously demented for the last 20 years but when you've got two films that are so similar to each other it's especially apparent

Last Duel was better than Robin Hood.

At least Robin Hood didnt waste your time by making you watch the same shit 3 times and then tell you the first 2 times was a prank

It's based on a real dispute so I liked seeing all of the perspectives. Robin Hood was pretty good off the bat but got increasingly worse, whereas Duel slowly won my attention and the climax was legitimately thrilling.

The only climax that movie had was from Driver and he only lasted about 10 seconds so I couldnt even get off to the rape scene

I love movies that give you multiple perspectives of the same event.

          Can anyone recommend some more?

500 Days of Summer did it near the end.

doesn't really count as different perspectives when they tell you the final one was the "true" one.

Oscar Isaac carried this movie, rather like Alan Rickman in Prince of Thieves

Nah, he was barely in it.

The problem with Robin Hood is that entire Marion subplot where it ends with her charging into battle. It's ludicrous.

As well as the french attempting to take over England with like ... 20 men.

To be fair, I'm not the biggest fan of 2049 as a sequel to Blade Runner but to say that Scott would do better is hilariously stupid.

Given that 2049 is a 6/10 at best it's not unreasonable to say Scott could have made a better film out of the same script. Less brutalism meme imagery and a shorter run time is guaranteed.

original blade runner is much slower even than 2049, despite shorter runtime

Pro-tip: he was never a good filmmaker. He's a tv commercial and music video tier guy. He just got lucky with some interesting scripts thrown at him from time to time (Duelists, Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator)

Yeah he just got lucky and made a few classics that influenced other film makers for decades.

Having had this experience with multiple relatives and acquaintances, I can say that one of the major contributors to the seeming mental decline isn't a loss of ability so much as an increasing solipsism and refusal to acknowledge any sort of feedback. Elderly people who could still function at a high level technically begin to frick up anyway because they basically just don't give a frick and srat doing the "am I wrong? No, it's everyone else" routine. And Napoleon is a prime example
    >hey Ridley, isn't Joaquin kind of old?
    >shut the frick up
    >Hey Ridley, aren't you overemphasizing Justine
    >shut the frick up
    >hey Ridley, isn't this historically inaccurate
    >go frick yourself
    >hey Ridley, why is everything grey
    >no seriously, shut the frick up

And their commitment to doing things their own way and not caring what others think would be almost admirable except they inevitably get butthurt when people end up rejecting them. If you want to tell everybody to piss off, fine. But then don't get shocked when they piss off.

Ridley has kind of famously never given a frick about historical accuracy

why can't you guys just accept that Ridley has never been consistent in his filmography?

He makes a bad film, then he makes a good film, then he makes a bad film, and another bad film, then a good film.

he has always been like this.

Getting old isn't Ridley's problem, it's that he doesn't give a frick anymore and is just making movies because it beats sitting in a retirement home

He got way way way to many Yes men. This is what happens with success. You need a homeboy. A wife even.
