What actually kill it was when Andrew Garfield refuse to go to a soccer game with Sony execs from Japan or some shit like that.
It's in the Sony email leaks.

"Hey Amy kids are really into EDM. Can we have Spidey do something with that? Hey Amy kids love Snapchat. What would you think about getting invited to Spidey's Snapchat? It'd be so exclusive.

      Yup he killed it himself
      >After the infamous Sony hack of 2014, it was revealed in an email that the actor was ‘let go’ from the role after he failed to show up at an event where Sony chief Kaz Hirai was supposed to announce The Amazing Spider-Man 3 for a 2017 release. Garfield said that he no-show was because of an illness.
      >According to a report, the email read, “Here we are about one hour away from our Gala event and Andrew decides he doesn’t want to attend. He has a rather scruffy beard and he just wants to be left alone.”

Bullshit. He didn't go because he was already told there would be no sequel.

    From the same year:

    Guardians of the Galaxy $772,776,600

Captain America: The Winter Soldier $714,421,503

    The Amazing Spider-Man 2 $708,982,323

Yet Winter Solider and GOTG seen as successes even though not much difference between them

spiderman had a higher budet and probably higher marketing costs

it also sucked really really bad

GOTG was a total rookie though so that number is giving Disney a total hardon.

it''s the lowest grossing Spider-Man film (live-action), while also having the highest budget.
It was also supposed to start a new cinematic universe, but it's reception, and lack of good ideas in how to continue the franchise, killed it.

    200M - 290M budget and 180M - 190M marketing.
It needed a box office of 760M at best or 960M at worst to break even.

Electro was fricking weird and a SM sequel should have done much better, coming into its own after having ample time to be refined by a director. The tacked on ending was absolutely cringe.

It's so funny and stupid seeing studios reboot franchises because they didn't make le billion (Man of steel)

They didn't reboot they tried to copy Marvel again by picking a multitude of obscure feature characters to fill in a universe. Unbelievably they made the Shazam mistake 3 fricking times. They deserve to be where they are now.

Why do morons think they're getting one over on society by pretending to like shitty movies? The SW Prequels, this one, the Dark Universe abortion, none of these projects have merit.

Ep3 was all about Clone Wars. The Vader transformation storyline was only stand out material near the end.
