love the fact that a trailer played for the american one right before this and it looks utter dog shit

Based thread.
Minus One throws into sharp relief just how bad the monsterverse really is.
Probably because none of the actors got paid more than 200K if not less
According to the director it was less than 15 million.

According to my penis it was priceless.
All thanks to this guy.
Great director who clearly likes and respects the source material and just wanted to tell a good story.
Shin Godzilla made more with a budget less than Minus One though.
I'm surprised he made something so good considering how bad some of his previous films have been.
I think Shin Godzilla made more in Japan but Minus One made more internationally.
Makes sense, Shin Godzilla was in theaters for 2 days, Minus One has had weeks.
No Shin ran forever in Japan and barely at all outside japan. Shin benefited from being the first Toho Godzilla movie since Final Wars and having Anno attached. Minus One was nowhere close in domestic sales but Toho got off their ass and at least did a half-ass international release. Minus One will probably break 90m in a few days.
Minus One has made more overall than Shin Godzilla.
Minus One passed Shin total gross sometime last week.
>great director
He's ok. I really dislike some of his earlier films that are really dependent on some rather shitty special effects.
>shin less money
The interesting thing about Minus One vs Shin, production wise at least, is that their production teams represent the old school and new school of Japanese VFX. Shin was made by people who got their start making physical miniatures. Minus one is made by digital natives who were doing 3d in their first films.
There's a pretty stark difference in visual styles between the two films.
>There's a pretty stark difference in visual styles between the two films.
They both worked though.
-1 looked a lot better too
there's some genuine mobile game trailer tier scenes in shin
the green screens in -1 are horrendous
The last kaiju movie that made money before Shin Godzilla was Godzilla 2000. Obviously Toho wasn't confident in a new Godzilla movie. Anno made tons of cash with the rebuilds but he was still a risky choice. The success of Shin Godzilla and later Shin Ultraman allowed Toho to invest more in Minus One
i learned about the film because spotify recommended me the ost
>i where the the corporate advertising algorithm tells me to because i don't have a functioning brain of my own
Shameful.
imagine what the anon who typed this looks like
Handsome fella, atleast 5 inches of penis too I bet.
I have to assume the Japanese people are saluting the main character for risking his life kamikazi bombing Godzilla just for the sake of my sanity but I think it’s way funnier to assume they were saluting Godzilla after he nuked Ginza.
It’s also very very funny that the love interest survived an atomic blast where she is shown to get thrown like a ragdoll along with a few tons of debris.
Good movie but Japanese melodrama is so ridiculous sometimes. It’s like they can’t handle real emotion so they pepper good movies with all these softball moments.
>It’s also very very funny that the love interest survived an atomic blast where she is shown to get thrown like a ragdoll along with a few tons of debris.
Glad I'm not the only who thought the ending was a bit silly. It's the one thing I didn't like about the movie. The kid didn't even react lol.
btw, what's with the teases for humanoid Godzilla? They did that in Shin too, and the idea just seems lame compared to Godzilla as it is.
>btw, what's with the teases for humanoid Godzilla? They did that in Shin too, and the idea just seems lame compared to Godzilla as it is.
That's Anno schizo episodes, he wanted Shin Godzilla to eventually evolve into a humanoid-thing God, that's why they repeat the "God Incarnate" thing a bunch of times.
Toho just vetoed the idea and left him to have the final shot as a sequel tease (implying that Godzilla recognized the power of human effort), it's in the artbook
Oh that silly Anno
Do you think there's any chance of a sequel to Shin Godzilla using those ideas?
Nope. 90% we will get a sequel to Minus One though.
What're they gonna call it? Godzilla Minus Two.
HAHAHAHA
Godzilla 0
I both really want this so I can see more of these guys I absolutely loved to see, and both don't because I don't want to frick up their happy-as-they're-gonna-get ending.
but the 'zilla virus, bro..
It cost less to animate over there.
90% of the cost of making movies in Hollywood is pissed away paying crooked unions, greedy ~~*producers*~~ and narcissistic actors. then all of the LGBT bullshit is forced into the plot to ruin any chance of it being a true success so they have to do imaginative accounting to make their money back. The end result is a turd that floats around in the theaters for a few weeks before being flushed and then the next turd shat out on the screen.
>the real monster was man
SASUGA ANNO SAMA
jews weren't involved
Shrimple as that.
>How the frick did they do it?
they wanted to make a good movie, not send a message hating on white men
The beginning CGI was shitty as hell.
Everything afterwards was fantastic.
nice gonna go watch it in a few expecting kino
Come back to this thread and let me know if anon
is right
I wouldn't call it shitty but when you see Goji later on in the movie it's definitely better. It's like how in Shin his first forms had so-so CGI but his final form looked fine.
GET HYPE
Gigan's mom.
That is all.
Godzilla X Kong just got moved two weeks up, it's coming out on March 29th now. Neat.
Happy we're finally getting Mothra and King Kong in a movie together.
Next movie should be Godzill and King Kong vs Gigan or something.
Digital when???
Also is Shin worth watching?
Shin is mediocre.
Shin is god tier
Better than Minus One anon
Nah.
it's not a competition
It's not even close, Minus One is a much better movie. It has a better story, and much better characters (characters in Shin are all pretty flat). I enjoyed Shin overall, but the pacing is all over the place, and it drones on far too long with the satirization of Japanese bureaucracy (the english speaking scenes are also nonsensical).
Movie is a more boring Jaws and the 15 million shows. Half the movie Shin was.
Again, too much human, not enough Godzilla. But the story was good enough to forgive it.
