A plot device at best, she was a convenient character to hang exposition off of, like at the end of Avengers when she asks him about the cards being in Coulson's locker. Coulson had more character development than hers ever did, and they killed him off early.

The show was actually pretty good by season 3, and by current year standards, it actually was pretty decent. The Framework season 4 and Kree future season 5 was some pretty cool writing, for TV drama caprshit. If it wasn't for the inhumans bit showing powers, you could almost say the entire show could have been reskinned as some sci-fi procedural FBI show.
