Sony President Tom Rothman is reportedly desperate for a hit after Madame Web flopped and Kraven the Hunter tested poorly, and wants to rush the movie into production for a June 25, 2025 release, though he's willing to compromise to a December release like Spider-Man: Way Home. Kevin Feige doesn't want to release four MCU movies in one year and would rather release it in 2026 alongside Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. He's also too busy with Marvel's ongoing projects to take on another one, but Rothman isn't willing to wait for him.
Marvel wants a street-level adventure where Spider-Man and Daredevil team up against the Kingpin, Sony wants another Multiverse-themed film featuring Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and SUMC characters like Venom and Kraven.
Sony wants to bring Jon Watts back as the director even though he doesn't appear to be interested, Marvel would rather someone else take over the franchise and is courting Watts for a different gig.
Tom Holland is also signaling he'll depart the franchise after Spider-Man 4 and the next two Avengers films, so Amy Pascal has already approached Feige about setting Sony's planned live-action Miles Morales film in the MCU and having him take over as its Spider-Man after Holland leaves.

Why don't they just do both?
So you want a gritty down-to-earth film that's completely off the wall and swarming with multiversal metahumans?
Yes.
That's pretty much what Sony wants.
>Tom Holland is also signaling he'll depart the franchise after Spider-Man 4 and the next two Avengers films
That sucks.
Everything he does outside Spider-Man bombs financially and critically, I doubt he's going to give up the gig that easily
I genuinely think he should be Link in LoZ film
That Romeo and Juliet thing he's doing has sold out shows
no, that's based. been waiting for this bumbling homosexual and his fugly ensemble of friends to get the boot already.
Stop trying to make shit like madame web or kraven happen you dumb Sony people
2026 is way too fricking long, the last movie was late 2021, literally longer than it takes for a college degree. Feige is killing them sitting on shit for years, it's why we got the last 5 years of bullshit instead of just jumping into X-men and Fantastic Four.
Who cares? In the end we know it's going to be another Spider-Man movie made up of men, no sexy female heroes or villains, and if Black cat shows up he'll be just like that troony from the game
I feel like we are just 2-3 years away from finding out all the dumb bullshit in the MCU Soider-Man films like the Stark worship were actually Sony mandates all along
what's the point in having a live-action Kilometers Gonzales film? He doesn't have a story outside of throwing him into a group with better-written and more interesting Spider-People, so you'd just be making the animated movies all over again. Hell, most of the shilled Spider-People don't have anything going for them that would justify at least a trilogy, with exceptions like Miguel.
They'll sooner have Andrew or Tobey or a recast pick up the slack than have Miles as the only live action Spider-Man. MCU can afford losing RDJ as Iron Man, Sony without Peter Parker is nothing.
>think it's back to basics after NWH
>actually it's going to be another multiversal hack job then the actor will retire
Lmao. At that point why not just recast?
This mentality is literally why Marvel has a successful cinematic universe and Sony doesnt
Sony sound like such douches.
wants a street-level adventure where Spider-Man and Daredevil team up against the Kingpin, Sony wants another Multiverse-themed film featuring Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and SUMC characters like Venom and Kraven.
Marvel clearly has the smarter idea.
Sony's looking back at the success of NWH and Spider-Verse, Marvel's looking back the disdain people had for its last several films/shows. Looks like they have two very different ideas of what audiences think about multiverse slop.
Marvel's most successful post-Endgame releases were Multiverse-themed (No Way Home, Multiverse of Madness, Loki). This perceived audience rejection to the concept is pure Cinemaphilepe.
based sony. frick daredevil. he's a lame character.
Why doesn't Sony pay more money for actually good writers and directors so their movies don't bomb? Even if they're mediocre and formulaic they'd be a step up from what they've been doing.
Because they don't know what good writing is. How can you cook for others if you can't taste?
>esperate for a hit after Madame Web flopped and Kraven the Hunter tested poorly
Did they actually expect any of this shit to be a hit, Venom is the only one people care about. I genuinely didn't think corpo suits were this moronic
>Marvel goes out of its way to give a tonally faithful adaptation of Ed Brubaker's Captain America, a character normies didn't care about until he got a movie
>we never got Uncle Ben
>we never got If This Be My Destiny
>we never got Spider-Man No More
>we never got Norman or Harry (no, a character zoomer-man met once as part of a multiverse story doesn't count)
>we never got death of Gwen Stacy
>we never got to see Mary Jane become less of a party girl and more mature after the death of Gwen Stacy
>we never got Hobgoblin
>we never got Death of Jean DeWolff
>we never got the marriage of Peter and Mary Jane
>Zoomer-Man will get the black suit and then quit Spider-Man forever?!?!?!
>this is literally the most popular Marvel character of all time
Look, I'm not some Cinemaphile.org /misc/chud. I like the Spider-Verse movies, I like the Saladin Ahmed and Cody Ziglar Miles runs. I also like Peter Parker, and if they don't just use Secret Wars as a way to recast Peter they have learned nothing from the mistakes of their post-Endgame phases.
You're part of the problem
>I like the Saladin Ahmed and Cody Ziglar Miles runs
>Sony wants another Multiverse-themed film featuring Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and SUMC characters like Venom and Kraven.
>want to cheapen what made nwh a success AND force in characters from their shitty series
Sony's film division is hilarious. How the Raimi trilogy turned out so well is amazing, even with 3 being flawed.
Anyone who actually understood the industry left Sony films around Spider-man 3 or just after. Sonys leaked emails show what complete morons they are internally. The emails that leaked way back in 2014 should tell you everything you need to know about how that film division is run. They announced Fem Ghostbusters with no idea what the movie was simply based on their meeting with the director and the idea of Fem Ghosbusters. When other departments like marketing were emailing for clarification as to what the frick this movie even was so they could try and do their jobs, Pascal and others dismissively ignored them then emailed each other saying "They just don't get it"
God I hate Pascal.
Sony email leaks was one of the best things to happen in the film industry.
So much hackery and terrible shit, and you had names attached to all of it so you knew exactly who to laugh at.
They really thought a 21 Jump Street x Men in Black movie was a slam dunk idea.
No Way Home 2 would suck so hard.
I want them to do a NWH2 but instead they get a bunch of actors, both famous and literally whos, to play the different Peter variants and they just meander and shoot the shit for the entire movie while solving the main conflict.
>Late '21 to mid '25 is 'a rush'.
Tom's not getting any younger.
>so Amy Pascal has already approached Feige about setting Sony's planned live-action Miles Morales film in the MCU and having him take over as its Spider-Man after Holland leaves
it's over for Sony
I really look forward to the book that gets written years after this whole loose partnership with Sony and Marvel is over.
I really want to read the chapter in which Feige loses his shit over Sony trying to sneak Keaton's Vulture into Morbius.
>Marvel wants a street-level adventure where Spider-Man and Daredevil team up against the Kingpin, Sony wants another Multiverse-themed film featuring Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and SUMC characters like Venom and Kraven.
Kingpin hires Kraven to kill Spider-Man. There you go.
Holy shit
Sorry anon, that makes too much sense to anyone who isn't on coke. Snort a fat line of Bolivian marching powder and try again.
>Sony's planned live-action Miles Morales film in the MCU and having him take over as its Spider-Man
Donald for Spiderman!
>Marvel wants a street-level adventure where Spider-Man and Daredevil team up against the Kingpin
I NEEEEEEEEEED IIIIIIIT
Wow, its almost like Rothman is a fricking hack.
>would rather release it in 2026
Crazy that he was ok having HC, FFH, and NWH be released two years apart, but not for the fourth movie.
