The original had a ton of frames of animation for the most mundane shit to the point it could get distracting. This looks stiff as hell and to top it all off it looks like they failed pretty bad trying to blend hand drawn art and cg. The 'To me, my X-Men' bit looks particularily bad.

Where does it hint that he is bisexual?

Nonbinary didn’t exist in 97, so I know they’re making it up.

Yes, community managers suck ass, but this "non-binarity" will only be a problem if the character makes remarks and statements referring to it. If it's just a character and they don't make their gender identity or sexuality his personality, I'm fine with it.

      Anonymous

But Wolverine will be bisexual, you know for a fact this shit is going to be in their dialogue and it's going to take up most of their personality. It's fricking Disney made crap.

Ah, you have the ass-burgers. That there is called sarcasm, a form of humor between friends. The author clues the reader in by the use of "heh." That's a recognition that what was said before was recwived as humourous. They then follow with a response in the same tone, humour. Look for these clues when reading and you won't be so confused. But good luck with your tisms.

If it's completely irrelevant to the actual on-sceen character and his personality, interactions or plot-points, why is it even being mentioned?

Morph wasn't "non-binary" or some shit in 1996/1997, because that shit LITERALLY didn't exist back then. It's literally the Leftist millenial writers projecting Current Year Tumblr shit onto a classic IP.

Morph was always a dude who can turn into whatever but his default form was a dude. homosexuals with mental disorders are adopting shapeshifters for their degeneracy

        Anonymous

I mostly agree with you, and I don't really know much about Morph as a character beyond what we see in the cartoon (He Died.). But I do think it needs to be acknowledged that the modern neomarxist left didn't invent every idea of gender exploration last tuesday. It has actually been (at times) an interesting and intriguing facet of science fiction for decades. The term "non-binary" has an awful taste to it, but there's been no shortage of stories exploring not just gender-changing robots or aliens but the philosophical and psychological ramifications of humans being able to switch genders in a far future, fantastical setting. Obviously, there's a big difference between exploring the idea in an intellectual, contemplative context, and the modern notion of trying to dismantle the social hierarchy and family integrity of western civilization with radical leftist moral relativism and hyperequity.

I'm not. The cartoon looks like it has terrible animation and I won't be watching it. I'm not interested in modern remakes/reboots/sequels in general, and only just barely found the concept of an X-Men revival novel enough to enter this thread, and little more.

But getting outraged over absurd moral crusade ghosts is simply an unhealthy, pointless way to live. Even the fact you're only capable of looking at this topic in extremes: either a "whiteknight" or an anti-woke crusader, is unrealistic and pathological. There's a bit more of a gradient in real life going on than the ultra narrow perspective you get being a propagandized internet cyber warrior.

Unironically breathe some forest air, my friend. It will do you good. It does us all good.

This has been in development hell for so long, I assume what happened is that they originally tried to digitally hand animate it but found it too time consuming, then scrapped it in favor of CGI but it looked like shit, so they just said frick it and went back to the digital hand animation and just waited it out. Looks like more effort was put into it than some of Disney's other cartoon shit, so expect the second season to be even lower budget bordering on Flash animation.

      >if scott isn't the main character they fricked up
Definitely top billing since Jean is pregnant with his kid.

Nonbinary didn’t exist in 97, so I know they’re making it up.

Nonbinary isn't a thing and is so stupid it's not even part of the LGBTQ alphabet soup. The only people who identify as nonbinary are the raped, and they can stay mad since they'll never be unraped.

Nonbinary is just an excuse for narcissism. Would you really use 'they/them' when talking TO the person? Those pronouns are meant for 3rd person aka when people are talking about these people, aka they're narcissists who wants to be the talk of the town. And seethes when people got muh pronouns wrong.

There are genuine, serious arguments against "woke" nonsense. The problem is, you don't have them. You're just riding on the coattails of ideological conflict you don't really understand, you just want to be on the winning team. So you lash out at everything that spooks you, throwing out "woke" like candy thinking you're accomplishing something, when in reality all reacting with kneejerk rage when there is nothing substantial to be found does is undermine the very subject. You're a newer-generation hanger-on trying to fit in to a popular movement, and that's what makes you a secondary, even moreso than being a comics secondary.

        Anonymous

I mean they had hyped it up as this big homage to the original and they were going to keep everything really close to the original. I know hand drawn just isn't going to happen, disney can't afford it, but I was expecting at least for it to be run through a filter to LOOK hand drawn. There are numerous anime examples.

          Anonymous

It is drawn digitally but it looks like at one point they tried full CGI and it came across looking too alien so we now have this weird middle-of-the-road approach, probably for time constraint reasons.

The voices sound spot on, I don't know if it's all the same cast or what, I would have figured they'd all sound decrepit and aged like the Simpsons. But the animation looks godawful. It's truly a disgrace that we can't even recreate what hand-drawn animation looked like in the 90s. First stained glass windows, and now this! Well, I just found out about this 30 minutes ago and I don't care that much.

            >It's truly a disgrace that we can't even recreate what hand-drawn animation looked like in the 90s.
Only way to do that is to draw it on paper. Digital artwork has not and never will look like ink artwork no matter how good AI gets, because a lot of what makes paper art look the way it does are the tactile imperfections when drawing normally.

I want to believe that the phrase "interesting buddy relationship" means that the relationship will be akin to Wolverine and Nightcrawler's friendship from the 70's and 80's where Kurt used to play jokes on Logan and mess with him to get him riled up and they were basically drinking buddies. But knowing modern writers, it probably does mean that they're going to have some gay relationship. I fricking hate these people.

    - Cyclops VA isn't bad, and actually kinda sounds like the original

    - The Magneto VA isn't bad either.

    - Cal can't do Wolverine anymore, which isn't surprising in the least given his age and how demanding the voice was. They should have replaced him too.

    - Animation looks acceptable for a teaser in the modern age. We'll see if it holds up.

I'm not holding my breath, and I doubt they'll be able to help themselves from wokifying this right into the trash, but the trailer is at least promising. I'm kind of surprised.
