I'm not trying to bait anyone. I'm just telling the truth. All those talk about muh diversity and yet what we have
>Black panther
A.k.a captain afrocentrism a.k.a "let me educate those nerds on the struggles of blackpipo" man. Honestly the worst black hero ever
>Miles Morales
Black knock off spider-man with gary stue powers
>War Machine
Black iron man sidekick. Didn't he die in the comic? I don't know honestly
>Falcon
Captain America sidekick with his own identity. Until they made him black knock off captain america
>Blue Marvel
Black Superman
>Luke Cage, Blade
Those are alright
> I'm not trying to bait anyone
Meanwhile
> All those talk about muh diversity
And?
And?
And?
Imagine calling Black Panther the worse black hero ever when Icon exists.
Blue Marvel is arguably the best written character of the last decade.
>Mighty Avengers
>Captain America and the Mighty Avengers
>Ultimates
>Ultimates 2
>Defenders: Beyond
People will come out and say all these books are shit, or Ewing is shit, or I'm a shill, but these are all some of the best books to come from the House of Ideas.
Also, calling him Black Superman means you've never actually read a book he starred in. If anything he's Black Tom Strong or Captain America meets Reed Richards. The flying brick powers are an afterthought.
You trippin. Ewing writes enjoyable stories, but BM is a horrible mary sue, with absurd powerset, really fricking shitty attitude, which never backfires and is one step from being written unironically in the way Sentry was written in the first mini. WITHOUT any drawbacks or price. Frick off.
Absurd powerset how? He's just another flying brick, same as Wonder Man, Captain Marvel, Hyperion, Gladiator, etc. Calling him out for being strong but "having no drawbacks" is weird. Keep that energy when the Wonder Man show comes out and Simon gets shoved down our throats.
>Keep that energy when the Wonder Man show comes out and Simon gets shoved down our throats.
You know that's coming, his entire fanbase may be less than twenty people, but they all seem to work for Marvel.
Not that anon but he did "loldarkmatter" his way into taking down a beyonder
Blue Marvel blows.
They should have hired the creator of Blue Marvel to play him in The Marvels.
No offense, but frankly Blue Marvel reads like an incredibly uncharismatic version of Icon who is already explicitly "The black Superman" of the Dakotaverse. Frankly, I'd go to bat for T'challa, Rhodey Jones, Luke Cage and Blade any day of the week (and maybe weekends for Sam Wilson cause I know it's bad writers that made him pivot from being a self-assured daredevil and voice of reason into someone far more insecure and b***hy), but you're going to have to tell me what the appeal is for Blue Marvel because he is like one of the biggest and most snobbish bores to ever suck up ink on the comic page, like even worse than Reed Richards can be. Forget Blue Marvel, they might as well call him Blue Wet Blanket because that's far more accurate to how little I enjoy his appearances on the comic pages.
No version of Icon has ever been 'charismatic'.
People Cinemaphile puts Icon on a pedestal because he's Republican and ignore that the point of the OG comic: he was wrong about almost everything.
Thank you. Icon was interesting because Rocket was there as the contrast. Ewing did something similar in Mighty Avengers with Luke Cage.
By late CA&tMA and The Ultimates Blue Marvel had moved past race politics and was focused on superhero ethics. The comparisons were on the team as a whole vs The Illuminati or the Fantastic Four, or his disagreements with Carol and T'Challa.
Definitely not wrong, but thing is that Icon at least had a personality, even if it's being an ultra-conservative who's too old for this shit that has to be forcibly reminded that no, he absolutely can and should be doing shit to improve the world instead of moping about. To me, Blue Marvel's even drier and pointless than that. Icon at least has a character arc. Blue Marvel doesn't even have a character.
>If anything he's Black Tom Strong or Captain America meets Reed Richards.
He's Sentry without the flaws
What does he have in common with the Sentry beyond the flying brick power set?
Retconned into the history of the Marvel Universe so he had always been there
New characters get created and inserted into Marvel Comics history all the time. This isn't unique to the Sentry. Did you read The Twelve? Have you seen Avengers 1000000 BC?
Shit, it isn't even a new concept. Think about all the retcons they did inserting out of continuity Timely characters into Captain America's history. William Naslund? Jeffrey Mace? William Burnside?
Come on, now.
You list those examples like they aren’t total shit. Blue Marvel, Sentry, Avengers BC, and any other retconned character is shit.
>black characters are either stealing white hero gimmicks or Africa themed
Two trick ponies lol
Black heros must be suicidal considering how disgusting most of their people are.
>Stop an armed robbery
>See black youths making music promoting armed robberies
BUT ANONS!
MOSAIC EXISTS, remember?! Mosaic? Everyone's favorite inhuman? The man who could HIJACK bodies? Yknow...like some sort...criminal?
Ironically Mosaic was actually pretty good and didn't fall into the usual traps.
>rather than being inoffensive and straitlaced he was a giant butthole and hated by everyone that knew him
>his powers had limits and drawbacks
>Not a legacy of an existing character
His mini was pretty good. Being a new IP and an Inhuman was a death sentence.
Plus his first issue was a few pages longer than normal so it was a dollar more than any other comic which is stupid to do for a new character. Keep in mind at the same time Ms Marvel was a dollar less than other comics BECAUSE she was new.
Yeah I was disappointed that Mosaic didn't end up taking off. Maybe he could resurface in a team book in the future and get some character growth.
>Black panther A.k.a captain afrocentrism a.k.a "let me educate those nerds on the struggles of blackpipo" man. Honestly the worst black hero ever
You're a moron.
God when are we going to have a black panther story that shows selfishly isolating yourself from the world is a bad thing
Wasn't that the Ridley run? Everyone hated it.
Hopefully never because muh altruism is hollow bullshit
>muh altruism
>in superhero comics???
Cyborg alone mogs the entirety of marvel black male heroes.
I like Cyborg, but writers lean too much into the man or machine narrative when he already overcame that.
Cyborg has been shit since they made him a New Gods character,
Cyborg, like all the Titans, was only ever cool in the cartoon.
>Didn't he die in the comic?
Everyone dies in the comics.
I will not stand for Luke Cage slander on this board.
I don't get the hate for Bendis' Cage.
It's literally just that one page with Bendisspeak people post ad nauseam. Otherwise it was a pretty good run.
Not very heroic
Cloak: bad ass
Nick Fury Jr: bad ass
Bishop: bad ass
Brother Voodoo: bad ass
I feel like most of your experience and critiques of black super heroes is based on maybe, recent comic tie-ins to the movies or the movies themselves. And yea it's kind of shit and it might not be fair to expect or ask people to learn 20-50 years of reading material. But still and it sad that most of these guys are being judged, opinions are being informed of them mainly by today's creative standards.
war machine feels like he should be way bigger and cooler honestly
>cool design
>iron man but with guns
>distinct from tony in nearly every way, yet they still make for a good partnership
unfortunately, im pretty sure his potential is tied to tony
For a time War Machine was the far more popular between him and Iron Man
>For a time War Machine was the far more popular between him and Iron Man
You're making stuff up
He's really not. War Machine was in the Marvel vs Capcom arcade game because Activision had the Iron Man license. Because of that, for a few years around the turn of the century, kids were more excited for War Machine than Iron Man.
>thread has been up 6 hours
>only 40 posts
Gotta love janny keeping bait threads alive so xhe can ban everyone who doesn't worship blacks like gods.
War Machine was cool before they made him a Carol simp.
>Black panther
>A.k.a captain afrocentrism a.k.a "let me educate those nerds on the struggles of blackpipo" man. Honestly the worst black hero ever
Ever since the Black Panther movie there’s been idiots like you saying this dumb shit. Culture war morons pretending to be comic fans
>Winter Guard
>what if Russia wasn't trained wrong deliberately, as a joke
