I don't like juggys helmet design and black armor, just one man's opinion

Black for Juggy is actually good. But yeah, the design sucks. Should've been like more Cyttorak inspired.
Or give him a design similar to 1610 Juggernaut's.

Marvel Comics' upcoming X-Men revamp is getting bigger - in more ways than one. While we reported on plans for three main X-Men books, two other team books, and four solo titles, we now have word that some will be more than just monthly books.

Hours after Uncanny X-Men writer Gail Simone announced at WonderCon 2024 that her series Uncanny X-Men with artist David Marquez would be aiming to ship 18 issues a year, series editor (and Marvel executive editor) Tom Brevoort said that its not along, and the adjectively X-Men series by Jed MacKay and Ryan Stegman will also be aiming for 18 issues a year.

"Before the editorial switch-over, Jordan White had been planning to have the two main X-men books ship 18 issues a year, and that plan sounded wise to me, so we’ll be keeping it in place," Brevoort writes on his Substack. "X-Men and [Uncanny X-Men] will alternate in this regard, with two issues on sale every other month in rotation."

It's unclear why the third X-Men book, Exceptional X-Men, isn't included in this plan despite being framed by Marvel as just as much a major book as the other two.

This new era of the X-Men begins May 4 with the Free Comic Book Day special Blood Hunt / X-Men #1, followed by X-Men #1 on July 10, then Uncanny X-Men #1 on August 7, followed by Exceptional X-Men #1 on September 4.

The problem is none of these books have any chance.

X-books have been in a sales gutter since Inhumans, which was why hoxpox happened.

Trimming the fat isn't going to save the franchise when they are firing blanks. They have got gender study majors helming these book and no a-lister at the helm to anchor the books. And they have no plan for these books other than generic superheroics, which was how they got themeselves into the situation in the first place.

          This is just a disaster.

            >X-books have been in a sales gutter since Inhumans, which was why hoxpox happened.
Cause they were doing the same repeat loop of having the X-men get back on their feet with a bunch of different teams doing their own thing, only to knock them back down with another major catastrophe threatening the entirety of the mutant race. Which despite all the promises of changing things up, they nonetheless replicated for the Krakoa era and will probably do for this next era too.

It ain't the fact they're doing generic superheroics that's going to kill them. It's the fact the writers have no ideas on where to goddamn take the X-men beyond straight back into the trashpile to milk aged out drama.

The problem of the X-Men is they are the genetic next. Nobody except the weirdest writers is ever going to tell stories where their species as a whole wins because it means humanity lost either through a genocide or fricking around and finding out with some marvel artifact of power. But I regularly see x-men diehard stans wishing for such stories.

If Hickman doesn't finish USM he's fricked. He's in desperate need of one complete, lengthy run like Avengers or F4 which were almost 10 - 13 years ago. Krakoa got fricked because he made it a group project. GODS bombed because he focused on his ocs. And he's only got USM because he let noob Camp tackle Ultimates.

            >Anon it's been a while since Magneto or Apocalypse or any of the mutant big bads threw an evil mutant shitfit
Magneto I'll 100% give you cause by this point he's attached to the hip with the X-men, but Apocalypse was causing shit with the X-men not even a year before HoxPox. And it's not like any of them actually reformed or changed their ways on Krakoa, everyone just had to pretend not to notice them continuing to be evil buttholes.

            >The problem of the X-Men is they are the genetic next
The booklines frankly need to move on from that shit. At this point, they're no more the inheritors of humanity than the Inhumans or gamma mutates or robots ever were, but writers keep obsessing on that point like it matters and it's what leads to this whole genocide loop the books are stuck in. Like you pointed out, nobody at Marvel is going to be stupid enough to let the X-men writers create a scenario where the mutants wipe out humanity aka wipe out all the other supers and have it be the end goal of the entire Marvel line. So they really need to pivot to just something fricking else by now.

              >So they really need to pivot to just something fricking else by now.

The whole point is they don't have a place to pivot to other than superheroes. Hickman had some sort of plan for the books after Krakoa with a new set up for the entire line. But he's nowhere in sight.

And Brevoort is just treating the books like Avengers lite. He has no fricking clue what to do other than diversity hires.

It's because they are stuck. Bleeding Edge was the last distinctive armor, before that was Extremis. Every armor since then is just based on the base design, even the current 'manually wear' one. Dunno how they can make a good Iron Man design that doesn't feel derivative though.

Hercules 15 to 30 years ago? He wouldn't want her as a tradwaifu. He'd love having her as a giga bawd to dick around. Hercules now? Is a raging homosexual who'd probably want to be cucked and fluff the bull. Fricking Ewing.

Cause they were white nazizs while Gorgon was an asian nazi. That makes it easier to accept, somehow.

Some people did have a problem with Apocalypse, but somehow the only three mutants on Krakoa that EVERYONE hated and had a problem with were the Strucker twins, for being "racists" on an island where almost everyone was bigoted against humans, and Cortez, not for starting a cult of murderous terrorists, not for starting a race war in Genosha, and not for using a baby as a hostage, but just because he betrayed Magneto during one of Magneto's villain phases.

              >but don't you dare be discriminate against a specific kind of human, not cool man
It's that weird disconnect that never fricking made sense because it was trying to have their cake while eating it, too. They're trying to make them seem inclusive and cool, but their overall rhetoric was no different from any ultranationalist nation-state seeing anyone not of their nation as something they found beneath their shoe.

i mean I guess it's because there are mutants who are black or asian or gay or whatever so if you're racist or against gay people it does affect them too and not just the normal humans(because frick them lel)

I imagine they prefer using "flatscan" because using the other common Genoshan slur of "dead end" would make the level of arrogance and intended viciousness far too obvious even for X-men fans.

Plenty of evil mutants. Aliens aren't off-limits cause they were fricking around with a lot of alien empires in the early days of Krakoa. They also invented a bunch of other anti-mutant knockoff organizations like the snotnose version of the Hellfire Club and the ecoterrorist grannies. Maybe a successor to the Nasty Boys, just a bunch of punkass mutants looking to ruin people's lives, or even a new incarnation of the Brotherhood of Mutants, now that mutants are going to be more understandably given more shit than usual.

buttholes in text, not Cinemaphile hating all the mutants

          Anonymous

There's enough goodwill on Cinemaphile towards what X-Men used to be decades ago that we probably wouldn't be hating them all if they weren't being written as buttholes, the writers are just tone deaf to what they're doing to the characters they're writing.
