Reminder Americans used to speak in more posh Englishe sounding accents back then

Only people in films or the radio. Mid-Atlantic accent wasn't something actual people spoke in on an everyday basis.

Except for Buckley but that’s because he was an American raised in Mexico and France and learned English from his schoolteachers.

On a strategic level we didn't think we needed them. The idea was that if we put enough defensive guns on the bombers they wouldn't need escorts, and by the time they realized that didn't work they had to scramble to develop fighters with a long enough range for the job.

Fighters have much shorter flight ranges than bombers due to being smaller and having less fuel capacity and therefore could only provide escorts for a short amount of time, usually not far out of friendly territory. Fighters were better for defense and ground support.

The show is pretending P-47s, 38s, and Spitfires didn't exist. The P-51 is going to show up to save the day.

The show isn't even depicting Spitfires or Hurricanes escorting the bombers around Engish territory for christs sake. They would have been patrolling the English channel when that one bomber flew north from France

They would have taken them across the channel at the very least to provoke the luftwaffe into a fight.

The real guy wasn't even from New York, he was from Wisonsin. They changed it because New York was the best American accent he could do.
