Why do all these old shows feel so causal and relaxed? You have big name celebrities making jokes with each other and to the contestants but it never feels forced or put on. You don’t get shitty quips and tense pauses, just flowing conversations. Maybe it was because the set feels like your living room or maybe just people were more laid back then
Yeah the new version was too forced. The original match game at least tried to be a real game show and had some funny bits
Just doing the entire show just for the funny bits doesn’t work
Like when family feud did every question to have an obvious dirty answer
I remember spending summers at my grandparent's house in the late 90s and watching Game Show Network all day. Match Game, Dawson-era Feud, Newlywed Game, Card Sharks, Gong Show, Pyramid with Dick Clark. All of it was incredibly kino.
It was still considered a matter of discretion in America at large, even if it wasn't really in entertainment. Gay celebrities were still "closeted" even though it was completely obvious to anyone who had met a gay person that they were gays. So those who could tell could tell and those who couldn't tell just thought "wow what a funny man, where does he come up with that outrageous character?"
Didn't grow up in that era and not gay but I remember they talked about Paul Lynde on one of those VH1 "I Love the 70s" shows and all the guests were like "oh yeah everyone knew he was gay, we just didn't say anything back then." That could be hindsight talking on their part, but I think there was just a different attitude about it.
Maybe he didn’t sleep around ? Pretty rare for gays but it’s not unheard of
The actor who played Jimmy Olsen in the old George reeves Superman show was a gay and was with the same dude for like 50 years
Charles Nelson Reilly, Paul Lynde and Liberace were all Grade A Poon hounds
They only acted gay to get out of paternity suits from all the b***hes they knocked up

They were all plastered and sleeping with each other.
This needs to be normalized again, the Alec Baldwin reboot was awful

They did a bunch of episodes at once and were constantly drunk/high
>big name celebrities
It’s called the star-studded Match game for a reason
They were C listers even back then
Betty White would probably be the one to go and have the biggest career but this was years before golden girls
>those episodes where you could tell Richard Dawson didn't want to be there because he wanted his own show
punk b***h behavior
>Star Wheel is introduced
>Richard is the first one spun
Peak television
Star Wheel marked the beginning of the end.
Oh, absolutely, but it was a brilliant "Frick you" going out the door.
>turtle neck with a blazer
Absolutely Kino Fashion
>big name celebrities
They weren't, and this was the best work most of them could get. Like today's convention circuit autograph signing losers.
What would todays equivalent be
Brian Baumgartner
I think he would be a cool panel celebrity as long as he acted himself and not put on a Kevin impression the whole show
Anyone on Dancing with the Stars or that Illuminati karaoke show where they wear the masks (for you).
I wouldn't know, I don't watch today's modern goyslop

>what did Charles Nelson Reilly wear for Halloween
> a tooth fairy
Was he ever suppose to be in the closet ?
Back then acting like that meant you were rich and effete, but not necessarily gay. That's like Elton John's entire early career.

Yeah, it was essentially don't ask don't tell: Hollywood edition.
>oh yeah everyone knew he was gay, we just didn't say anything back then
Many such cases.
>raging homosexual his whole live
>didn’t die of AIDS at the end
How did he do it
by being funny and doing things like fukakakwn oeh nnowl pelas e hee wlp meeeaghh
Maybe he didn’t sleep around ? Pretty rare for gays but it’s not unheard of

>Anon...name the most outrageous place you and your gf have ever made whoopie
In the ass.
>snatch game

Could a Battle of the Network Stars be done today? Who would you want to see in it? Are streaming platforms allowed?
You'll get Creator Clash and like it.
>Betty White episode
comfykino maximum
Seriously though, why did the panel game show die out?
Is that homie from loco bandito?!
Yes
