How come the broader animation industry doesn’t despise him for doing shit like putting his name on other artists’ work that feature his characters?

He flew the Epstein's plane and got away with it
There's dozens who did the same
>be some C-list fat dork who draws cartoons
>maybe kinda come up with the idea for a cartoon show
>do some character designs and have writing credits on like 4 episodes
>this propels you to become so rich you can coast off of it despite having nothing to do with it for like 30 years
>you are so powerful that it is openly known you flew on epstein's jet and got underaged massages and no one gives a frick
This guy just makes zero fricking sense to me.
On the contrary, it makes perfect sense. How about we do an Early Life check on him and see what we find out?
I just learned that his brother in law is the girl who created Hey Arnold.
And since Bart is based on Math, and Lisa is based on his real life sister Lisa.
And since the creator, Craig Bartlett, based Arnold on himself.
That means that Lisa Simpson married Arnold Shortman.
Mind blown!!
^is the guy who created Hey Arnold
>Helga and Lisa Simpson are both inspired by the same person
In the Groening shorts, Lisa was mischiveous and Bart's partner-in-crime. She turned emo in the series
Making Lisa a vegan liberal was so fricking wrong. Why couldn't she just be a little girl that's a smart and likes Jazz?
This chick doesn't speak Spanish and is israeli.
Sorry Millcels and Nelsoncucks but the Shortman gets the girl
Poor Lisa, having to push out a football spiked like a pineapple.
>brother in law is the girl who created Hey Arnold.
huh?
I meant to say brother-in-law is the guy who created Hey Arnold.
Craig Bartlett
They divorced and Craig is now dating the girl who's making Primos
whoa
Fricking gross
Fricks your problem, they look like a cute happy couple
damn he's old
So Primos isn't just shit, it's nepotistic shit. Amazing.
so, every show in hollywood rn?
that's everything everywhere. meritocracy doesn't exist.
and i am wondering how far corruption and nepotism was gone killing the US animation industrious. thank you. i now know..
He has frick you money, that's why. Man can get away with whatever at this point
Because it’s not his actual signature and is used more akin to a copyright statement.
I love the Simpsons (1-9) but don't really respect him as a creator. Futurama was good too but he feels like one of those artists who is carried hard by his teammates.
How much he actually worked on the Simpsons? I only see people discussing later showrunners.
He made the initial drawings and developed the main characters alongside other more talented people
He wrote all of the original shorts. Only when it got spun off to its own show did other writers come onboard.
I find it hard to believe Matt had anything to do with the original shorts being good considering how much he trashed the original pilot episode to the series
Well that's just you being ignorant.
I thought it was Klasky Csupo?
Matt Groening sucks for not giving David X. Cohen a co-creator credit. Futurama is more his show than Groening's.
Listen to
. Same thing applies. Most people understand that a whole team of skilled artists and writers made The Simpsons and Futurama what they are, but at the end of the day Matt Groening still came up with the initial concepts and his drawing style defined some of the most iconic characters in pop culture.
Animation industry likes him for actually convincing suits and viewers that cartoons can be relevant adult content. After miserable HB failures in the same area.
He's far left
if by left you mean socialist, cool.
if you you mean liberal, that's not leftist
I think a lot of real artists in the industry lowkey hate him for his absurd rules he enforced on Simpsons (which is why its in the state it's in today) and for being what ruined adult animation.
It's generally career ending if you speak badly about any people in positions of authority in the industry though, so you'll never hear it from real artists within the industry.
>I think a lot of real artists in the industry lowkey hate him for his absurd rules he enforced on Simpsons (which is why its in the state it's in today)
Explain.
He didn't let them do Ren & Stimpy kinds of animation.
you're saying he enforced deadlines?
NTA but less that and more that his vision for the Simpsons was a shabby world and in making that shabby world he wanted things to be very stiff and on model scraping most of the original work done by Klasky Csupo.
And because the Simpsons is the root from which all other western adult comedy stems fluid animation is not a common thing in that part of the field.
Nah, it wasn’t deadlines. Matt threw out the original version of Some Enchanted Evening because it actually acted like a cartoon. His reason was that it took attention away from the jokes and pop culture references
?si=VWNPpgHd1lHw5FVU
he didn't like it whenever the show did cartoony gags and prefers the modern look better
i've no idea how a guy goes from doodling an underground comic strip for a full decade to that, i sure hope i don't go that soft in the head when i get older
imo family guy (and yes, that includes the pre-cancellation seasons that people now regard as soulful or whatever) is more to blame for the current state of adult animation than anything the simpsons ever did
the latter only started stiffening following the former's success, which probably was a big enabler for groening in eventually getting his way
>mo family guy (and yes, that includes the pre-cancellation seasons that people now regard as soulful or whatever) is more to blame for the current state of adult animation than anything the simpsons ever did
You're right but Family Guy also only exists due to the Simpsons.
big difference being that the simpsons was the best thing on tv at one point
you can hardly fault a good thing for spawning copycats, it's an inevitability
>It's generally career ending if you speak badly about any people in positions of authority in the industry though, so you'll never hear it from real artists within the industry.
Bill Oakley did a Q&A on nohomers once and they tried to b8 him into shitting on Mike Scully but he wouldn't do it. I don't think he does actually like Scully and what he did to the show though.
Ok and? We also got Simpsons and Futurama comics thanks to this fat guy.
B O N G O
It feels like a missed opportunity not drawing her with only one ass cheek.
Sexo
Oh MAMA
If anything those other artists are the ones benefiting from the added publicity of using his name.
This. Getting paid big bucks to draw official Marge lewds sounds like a good gig.
I’d assume the comics scene has a bigger problem with him than the animation scene. He got his start with an anti-wholesome anti-establishment anti-everything comic in the underground LA scene. Then when he got his first television gig, he let it become a merchandise machine and rode it as far into the ground as he could.
Literally anyone would do the same if given the opportunity.
It's his characters. There's no show without him. If anything, these israelite writers should THANK him for allowing him to work on his property.
Why were you on Epstein's client list, Matt?
Everyone who's worth a shit was also on there
He wasn't.
>no show without him
by that logic it should have been over years ago
The show literally would not exist without Groening. What came after can easily be continued without him, but the genesis only happens because James L. Brooks and a couple of TV execs liked some indie cartoonist's work: https://youtu.be/0JO8nQA0ghk
Matt had no real vision beyond 5 minute animated shorts that were just retelling stuff that happened to him and his sister when they were kids.
all of the writers just retold stories about something that happened to them as kids. even Nancy Cartwright when she wrote that one HD season episode was retelling her experience from band class in school.
>even Nancy Cartwright
The scientologist?
>putting his name on other artists’ work that feature his characters
Like Bob Kane?
People should really give a look to its Life in hell series to see how much of a comedic genius matt is, specially since all of it was written and draw by himself. he is ok i guess, but you can see that the writting team carried hard both shows and he lacked that group talent to make disenchantment take off
this ugly little homosexual's success and legacy is an absolute aberration of luck and connections. He is like the anti Mike Judge
>Life in Hell is one of the most unfunny sterile and fricking LAZY comics ever put to paper.
Really the terribleness of Life in Hell is what really pushed me over the edge for seeing Groening as the fricking hack that he is.
>The Simpsons art direction and style of humor swayed FAR away from his initial input.
>He is credited with writing basically a single episode alone - Colonel Homer.
>He always tried to downplay Sam Simon stepping in and taking the reigns on the show, corralling talent and making things come together.
>He shit talked Danny Elfman's music as a homosexual newspaper critic and still asked him to do the theme song, and elfman nocked it out in a single evening.
