What is wrong with this man? He can't keep a job for a year.

Careers in animation are long strings of short-term jobs. Very rarely are you going to spend longer than 2 years at one place.

Checkered Past has been shilling it everyday.
Plus CN has been shilling it online. I saw a shirt of it at Spencer’s too. So he has to at least get something out of those.

How did he become political? What new environment? Do you need an adult?

I'm just saying that he became political and started hanging out with VIvziepop to save his career, and Vivziepop is poison in the animation industry. Plus he used a tragedy to go after conservicucks and that pretty much sealed his fate. He'll probably go the way of John K. He'll do cartoons in other countries like Joe Murray does.

Obviously, the moron delusion in this is thinking that making a cookie cutter liberal statement would get you blacklisted, rather than most creators don't get more than one show, let alone any at all.

Just working with Vivziepop isn't inherently political. And if all he said was he didn't like Trump, then that's barely even a hot take. Most people don't like Trump, or any politician to begin with.

Every time a thread like this comes up idiots miss the point completely. The lesson for anyone who wants to get into animation remains the same; don't sell out. I'll say it again, DON'T SELL OUT. This is what you can look forward too. Companies are fickle as are audiences. Going indie gives you the ability to counter changes in what audiences want and you get to keep your ideas. Dana, Viv, Max, and Hannah all made the same mistake of being signing their souls away to big corpos who took their ideas and fricked them. A few of those names deserved it because they are genuinely toxic people, but they got fricked nonetheless. Don't sell out no matter what they offer, no matter how much money or creative control they promise they'll give you, never ever sign. Stay indie, work through Patreon or Subscribestar, it'll suck to start up but you will be happier in the long run.

      >Don't sell out no matter what they offer, no matter how much money or creative control they promise they'll give you, never ever sign.
Maxwell Atoms explained if you want a show on network TV you're gonna have to sign away the rights to it. If you don't give them the rights you don't get a show. The corporations would gain nothing from letting the creators make a show AND own the rights to it.

        >I have a couple of ideas that I think would KILL on Adult Swim. But since the current president is the guy who gave me a public dressing-down for “ruining Cartoon Network’s brand” with my “hateful fart cartoon” before promptly firing me… such a collaboration seems incredibly unlikely.
        maxwellatoms.tumblr.com/post/667393348097671168/have-you-ever-considered-working-with-adult-swim
Who knows? Ouwelleen also co-created Harvey Birdman so there's that.

          Anonymous

I refuse to believe that Ouwelleen had a significant role in making Harvey Birdman as good as it was, despite the co-creator credit. It makes even less sense when you realize that Birdman was really mean-spirited and crude in a way that was similar to Billy & Mandy.

But if there's one show that I think which genuinely reflects Ouwelleen idea of a "show" then it would be Birdgirl. Because it's a stale, lifeless, safe, and boring show that was made to appeal to him, and only him.

Harvey Birdman was a show on Adult Swim while Billy & Mandy was a show on Cart Network. That's the difference. Aqua Teen Hunger Force was more mean-spirited than both, but just like Birdman it was on Adult Swim.

Seems like Ouwelleen's supposed beef with Billy & Mandy was that it was a show on Cartoon Network with its humor.

He was able to film some scenes before SAG rules screwed it over with high costs and not being allowed to have non-union actors on the project. So he ended up having to cancel the project and refund all the money
      >I made some great progress over November and December. We shot Conglomerate vehicle interiors, the vast majority of the Normalbar interior, some outdoor car chase pieces, a round of miniatures, and squibbed some people in my kitchen. And then the other shoe dropped.
      >Or shoes. For one thing, filming actors under a SAG contract is very expensive. The insurance for the actors in November alone was 1/10 of the entire budget for the entire project. I also discovered that I legally can’t mix SAG and non-SAG actors, even for an ultra-low budget film. Which means that everything I did in November and December is a very expensive wash.
      >How could I not know this? Apparently a lot of the actors didn't either. I do have an entertainment lawyer in my employ, and we're going to have a nice long talk about that real soon.
