MDMA makes it so that your brain releases an inordinate amount of serotonin. The high concentration of serotonin will give you that ecstatic feeling
But, when the drug wears off you run into two issues
1. Your brain burned through its reserves of serotonin, so it's difficult to really enjoy something for the next day to couple of days
2. The huge amount of serotonin means that your brain will temporarily adapt to those amounts, also meaning it's more difficult to enjoy things.
So for a couple of days you will likely feel rather down. And not hungover down, but more "I don't enjoy things" down

MDMA sucks unless the upper limit of your drug experience is the weed you bought from the guy in your dorm who has a Pulp Fiction poster and fifths of Svedka. In all honestly most drugs begin to suck and are not worth the juice that you squeeze from them once you try meth (orally/snorted, don't smoke it like a toothless hillbilly moron) and synthetic cathinones e.g., 4-MMC (mephedrone)

You can watch movies on psychedelics, the plot might just be way harder to follow and it would probably be way more enjoyable to listen to music and watch stylized music videos instead.
Depends on the movie. Horror/gore in and of itself isn't what will scare you if you're tripping, it will most likely be a concept that will creep you out. A movie like the Matrix can probably be way more disturbing than the Texas Chainsaw Massacre because if you take a really high dose you might get psychosis and think you're also living in a simulation while slasher horror is brutal in a very straightforward and fake way.
Never said you couldn't watch a movie on psychedelics, just saying that due to the effects of the entheogens your attention will be drawn to other things

In my experience attention span wasn't an issue, I was captivated by the movie (Big Trouble in Little China), might have been part due to me having so much trouble keeping track of the plot and the movie's set design because every other scene made me go "woah wait where are they, what's going on?"
I assume it's almost exclusively people who have never had a bad trip on a high dose of psychedelics who think it would be a fun idea to intentionally try to set themselves off with a horror movie.

i've had euphoric movie watching experiences on acid many times. apocalypto, the good the bad and the ugly and get carter stick out as some of the my most enjoyable trip watches. TV wise I rewatched Rome and Sopranos tripping and that was great too. I don't like these "you got to go to nature man" people that refuse to believe you can enjoy a movie high.

Yeah I don't really like the visuals, the movie has been on my backlog for years now but the book was really good.
