I am making this thread about currently in production Nicktoon, Meet the Voxels, in hopes of spreading more awareness for it.
>What is Meet the Voxels?
Meet the Voxels is an animated sitcom about a video game Afro-Latin family and there adventures as video game characters.
The synopsis describes the show and characters as such.
"Follow the life of a family of video game characters, including a Street Fighter Mom, a bubble-popping teenage girl, a 13-year old who is the star of a laser-tag game, a retired arcade game dad, and a younger brother in search of a game franchise of his own."
>History
Meet the Voxels was first shown off at an Unreal Engine conferace with Nickelodeon partnering with the studio behind it as the show would be animated entirly with Unreal, meaning that it's the first ever cartoon to be animated with a video game engine.
The cartoon is a cartoon conceived by Chris Young in 2018. It was in pre production during the corporate restructuring of Nickelodeon causing its future to be uncertain.
Although after years of silence in 2021 new info was released to the public by Chris who provided footage of the pilot.
Although this new info also reveals that the cartoon his going to be silently shoved onto Netflix as seemingly Nickelodeon does not want it anymore, thus giving it the Pinky Malinky treatment.
According to IMDB the show was supposed to have been released in 2022 but for some reason got delayed, sadly it might have been cancelled altogether.
The first ever cartoon animated with a video game engine, such a concept would make history, but it is being treated poorly by Nickelodeon as they're ignoring it and quietly shoving it onto Netflix, assuming it doesn't get outright cancelled.
Here's an article going into more information.
https://www.nickalive.net/2021/05/first-look-at-meet-voxels-nickelodeons.html
And here's the pilot footage from 2019 uploaded by Chris Young himself six months ago.
Nickelodeon used to be a trend setter but now they are mistreating a potential new trend setter.
Also, keep in mind that the animation is from 2019, just a year after it was conceived, so imagine how better it will (Or would have) look with more time.
Aside from the family there would also be two other main characters named Deuce and Hostess.
They would be voiced respectively by Donovan Patton (Joe from Blue's Clues) and Selah Victor (The English voice of Chloe from Miraculous Ladybug).
Now's a good time to revive the project, considering that UE5's a thing.
After all the bad PR Nickelodeon has been getting they really do need something to turn things around.
Reviving the project would be a good start.
Epic's got all the money in the world, so they might as well pitch a Fortnite show if all else fails.
I remember watching the sneak peek of this when it was in production, but with how expensive it probably is to produce, it's understandable why they wanna dump it. Also, things are just not looking too good for live action anything on Nick right now with quiet on set still fresh in peoples' minds.
>things are just not looking too good for live action anything on Nick right now with quiet on set still fresh in peoples' minds.
I wonder if that live action Loud House show is gonna get cancelled due to that.
I'd prefer it end on its own, and for normies to realize not everyone working on these live action projects is a future Brian Peck or Dan Schneider. But people online are going to keep bringing it up since they can't let the past go. Best to get rid of it all and go full on into importing Canadian toons again.
As a Canadian i gotta say, Canadian cartoons went down hill. Not only is there far less than before but it's all so watered down and sanitized due to United States influence that they have lost their identity with having more edge to them and darker tones. Just look at what happened to Total Drama.
Frick man, Canada needs an animation renaissance.
I really miss raunchy Canadian cartoons.
I second this, considering that I was one of the few Americans that actually liked Canadian cartoons.
Would have made for a nice crossover with Glitch techs.
Just went to the archives as i remember discussing the show before and that was all the way back in 2018.
Damn does time fly...
what's so volume element about them?
What?
As stated in the OP they are a afro-latin family.
Why are they brown?
>raise awareness
just say you're a shill
>shill
>For a show that might never be released
yes, that's how advertising works
It's impossible to advertise something that might be cancelled.
>Afro-Latino
Sorry, I can't identify with those characters so I'm not gonna watch.
>Only being able to identify with characters because of race
Different anon:
Of course. I can't enjoy something if I am not personally represented.
>mandatory dyke haircut
So tiresome.
However seeing them motion capture stuff for a cartoon looks fun.
Actually it makes sense.
She's supposed to be a fighting game character so having her hair short would make animating her easier as they don't have to animate her hair when she does a bunch of crazy moves and does battle.
For example, the scene of her getting pile drived by her opponent, it's be more difficult to animate if her hair was any longer.
>the only short hairstyle is a dyke cut
Let us not cope our way out of here okay.
Well what short hair style would you have gone with?
Keep in mind that this is Nickelodeon working with technology unfamiliar to them, no way they'd animate an entire cartoon like a Tekken 8 cutscene.
How about a Japanese fighting game with her hair in a ponytail and she still gets to be attractive?
A ponytail can still be considered too long.
Also it's a Nickelodeon sitcom mom, they were never made to be attractive, the main eye candy has always been the (Underage) teen daughters.
(And yes i specified underage just to point out how creepy Nickelodeon is)
You're on the right board, so some people on here will think that's based.
All I can say is I'll be praying for it's downfall, I will never watch anything with short danger haired female characters
I'll be honest, that's a dick thing to do.
But it's the correct thing to do.
This is starting to sound like some culture war BS.
Seriously, am i talking to anons on Cinemaphile or trannies on twitter?
>anons on Cinemaphile or trannies on twitter?
What's the honest difference?
Trannies on twitter worship dyke garbage, you don't know what you're talking about
Worse it's a troony doing that "all sides are the same" shit
Nothing has proven that wrong.
Also i am against the trans agenda, i have been fighting against it since Hogwarts Legacy.
What i'm saying is that tehy're two sides of the same coin.
you put dykes on streaming services that we pay for, you deserve to go broke and get cancelled
All I see is fortnite models
This is unreal we're talking about, so no shit it's Fortnite models.
Coulda sworn we already did this show. And it sucked.
b-butt these ones are afro-latinx
What show is this?
game over?
Even if they were not Blacks the title alone is so lame. Take your defanged, family friendly, fake gamer culture and go somewhere else. I not only hope this fails but that it ruins the careers of everyone. Just sickening.
Didn't people on this board say the same thing about Nu-FOP?
Fortnite
>Meet the Voxels is an animated sitcom about a video game Afro-Latin famil-
Nope, I cannot identify with this.
>genshit impact
neither can i, anon
>Street Fighter Mom
>Looks like an FPS character.
>bubble-popping teenage girl.
>We uh, couldn't find a game for her to represent
>a 13-year old who is the star of a laser-tag game
>Laser tag video game.
>retired arcade game dad
>I mean, Duke Nukem was an arcade, right?
>a younger brother in search of a game franchise of his own
>ugh
-popping teenage girl.
>>We uh, couldn't find a game for her to represent
Taito?
Actually i can see a laser tag game working out.
And what does that make straights, part of the straight agenda?
>black video game characters
Don't tell Cinemaphile, they'll be triggered
I can name several black video game characters that are pretty universally loved.
So can I, pic related, but nearly all of them are pre-2014. Thanks to leftists poisoning the well, all black characters become suspect as tokens.
>nearly all of them are pre-2014
I won't lie, that's pretty much all I can think of as well off hand.
Depending on how you would count Barrett Wallace
Come on, FFVII came out in the 90s. The remake is OK, I haven't played the second one yet since it's a PS5 exclusive, which is also likely why it sold so poorly.
Also interesting to note that after 9/11, it took 20 years before you could have characters that were terrorists again. How much longer will it take until we have black characters that aren't obnoxious tokens?
>The remake is OK, I haven't played the second one yet since it's a PS5 exclusive, which is also likely why it sold so poorly.
I've been watching the remakes streamed.
There's some minor changes there made, but Barrett ironically is the one character that's probably changed the least and his VA really puts some life into his performance.
Red 13 on the other hand is...interesting.
Nice digits
>Red 13 on the other hand is...interesting.
What did they do to Red 13? I've seen one clip where he's standing upright, dressed as a Shinra soldier, and doing the moonwalk. I don't know anything beyond that.
>What did they do to Red 13? I've seen one clip where he's standing upright, dressed as a Shinra soldier,
"It's hard to walk on two legs isn't it?" That was in the original during the ride on the ship to costa del sol, and it happens here in this one.
>and doing the moonwalk. I don't know anything beyond that.
He did, and honestly I thought it was pretty great. But specifically, and this is a spoiler because it's a bit of a plot element:
Red 13 has one voice actor, but he uses two different voices. In the context of the story, it's not a retcon but it does make sense from a certain point of view.
I'm only a third of the way through the original right now, so thank you for the spoilers. Not being able to play the new one gave me the impetus to give the old one another try.
The original is still good, still holds up. There's RNG manipulation you can do to get the gold chocobo to make it less of an unbearable slog too.
>There's RNG manipulation you can do to get the gold chocobo to make it less of an unbearable slog too.
This please spoil for me, I wanna know
Just got the land rover, I'm not up to Chokobo breeding yet
Good. It's best to start fresh, blank slate.
I hate watching videos, is there an article?

This should be it. Sorry for belated replies here anon.
Bless you Anon, I will give it a read.
Called Meet the Voxels. Clearly polygonal. Who wrote this shit?
Gen Xers.
People who have lives outside of video games
>Street Fighter Mom
>Dresses like a Mass Effect ripoff
Actually the creator, Chris Young is a Hollywood grandpa. The guy is in his 50s.
That's oddly younger than what I was expecting.
7 Grand Voxels
This isn't in production. They made a pilot that was passed on 5 years ago and the whole project has been dead since then. It's also not very good and the only thing it has going for it is the novelty.
Anyway, Max & the Midknights and the sixth season of Miraculous are using UE and look a lot better than this.
https://oshi.at/idNp
The live action show LazyTown was also using UE 20 years ago to generate the backgrounds in real time.
Thanks for your truth bombs, they're appreciated.
Except for the fact that she's a straight woman with 3 offspring.
>Wall of text
>No cute girl to waifu
dead in the water. It's bland. You can't even hate on it. I am already forgetting this thread exists.
>Waifugays
Not everything is about lust.
frick that shit, i demand a remake/reboot of... Reboot.
How about a beastwars reboot where Optimus Primal gets more screentime?
Reminder that every Transformer show to come out from now on must include one trans-former.
That's a literal Flashgitz joke.
Dunno what that iz
>posted 7 years ago
I made that joke before that.
Besides, this time I was serious, it'll appease the SJW 'fans' without being out of place with the lore and setting.
Why wouldn't it? Robots are about as enby as you can get.
No, I mean yes, I agree, the trans is right there in the name, and it's not out of place for the characters or culture. (or culture clash)
Monkey's paw, homie!
