serious question, do you think they just pulled in the old 3D model to save money? actually frick it, do you think the entire point of this is because they already had the models made and on file?

      >the entire point of this is because they already had the models made and on file
all the studios besides Disney do this with all their movies now, reuse the models and environments made for feature productions and repurpose them in cheap TV shows
they did a 70 episode Boss Baby show and a huge run of How to Train Your Dragon stuff, all reusing the assets built for the movies
hell the entire reason the new SpongeBob movie had an extended flashback to them as kids was so they could use Hollywood accounting to offset the preproduction costs for Kamp Koral in with the movie

Even the still looks like low quality 2010's crap
      Open Season had better animation
      Just look at Megamind's eyes
This is going to suck hard.

They're not using the same models, it looks noticably worse.

I get they couldn't get Will Ferrell to reprise the role but they could have found someone better?
This fricker sounds like Marvin Martian or Dudley Dooright

The VA didn't even attempt to sound like Will Ferrel. Surely there would be someone who could have a go? And the Tina Fey character sounds awful too. What's the betting that thee only original cast member who might return is Jonah Hill?

Will Farrel would totally do it

      I just checked wikipedia
      >Alongside the film, Peawiener also revealed that a follow-up television series titled Megamind Rules! would be released on the same day.
They're doing what Jimmy Neutron did in the early 2000s, except without the intention to make it watchable

For any anons who don't know about why Jimmy Neutron had such an interesting development:
prior to JN no TV show had been fully 3D cgi, this was around the same time as toy story when 3D cg was very expensive
The creative team of JN came up with a plan, they'd make a pilot (partially lost media) and make a movie, they'd set the movie in common locations for a tv show and use the budget of the movie to set up characters, environments and props
Following the movie, they then reuse all the same stuff they made in the movie for the episodes, saving a huge amount of money
They were right and their gamble paid off big time, being one of the only (if not only?) fully 3D CGI show of the early 2000s
Some of the details might be wrong in that story but the jist is they had an innovative novel strategy to make a 3D tv show and it was neat to see it work out
The plan appears to be the same with megamind, except without any of the effort

Beast wars was earlier. Merchandise probably funded the frick out of that show though.

Reboot would like a word with you

This is a shitty cash grab and I'm disappointed because the movie was decent and didn't need a sequel

I think it's a tv series, I'm guessing from the cheap models and animations. It's just a lazy rig in blender. I think playstation 3 in-game cutscenes looked like this.
If it is a movie it must have originally been a television series which was rehashed into a quick movie, there's no way this is movie quality. The budget must be miniscule

Nostalgia blinded millennials will fight me but the Jimmy Neutron show has not aged well. The cartoon is so ugly it’s uncanny. That’s why cell animation is supreme.

Mainframe had produced seven different CG shows by the time Jimmy Neutron came out. Other studios like Foundation Imaging and Netter Digital also existed. It wasn't a common form of TV animation, but it wasn't unheard of.

Wouldn't it be fun if Megamind got raped really hard by the big flaming rock guy? hahahaha, imagine him whimpering helplessly as it happens. Also, his girlfriend could be there watching, wouldn't that be hilarious. Just kidding, I know it's messed up. Just putting the idea out there, hahahaha
