I remember watching about 45 minutes of that movie and turning it off because I was bored out of my skull and felt misled about what I was going to watch since Max had frick all relevance to anything that was going on and it was all about Charlize Theron. I've never understood why people think it's good. "Witness me" is funny, that's all I can realistically give it. Watching an entire prequel movie about Furiosa sounds roughly as interesting as watching paint dry.

I remember liking Fury Road somewhat due to its cinematography, but I also distinctly remember it being a letdown because of Max being utterly irrelevant and sidelined by Furiosa. I just plain don’t remember much of the movie aside from a few standout flashes of some scenes, and I’d say that’s because it was kind of middling. Now that said, that movie is itself irrelevant. The feminism of today is like if feminism from 2015 went Super Saiyan, it’s going to be even more insufferable

In 2, Lord Humongous dies by driving his own vehicle headfirst into the one Max is driving, which also kills the secondary villain Wez. And Aunty Entity didn’t die at all in the 3rd film.

I hate how when this is brought up there is only crickets. They were moronic and had the best standard of living possible and all they had to do was sire the leaders children. Even furiosa who turned out to be unsuitable for that ended up a respected general who threw that all away to go waste water.
I have no idea why they call it a feminist movie, they were inept, every single one of them.

Did you not see the peasantry begging for water? Do you have no idea how the world of mad max is thirsty as frick to the point even the oceans fricked off? So access to clean water and food is pretty highup in society.

And then they just blast gallons of it into the sand stupidly because they need to get some dirt off. Didn't even give themselves a full ho bath. Just dabbed at their clothing and legs a bit. All that fricking water, gone. At the end of the film you have those stupid b***hes wasting all that precious motherfricking water. It was already established that a bunch of women on their own completely fricked up EVERYTHING they their community has going for them to the point that all you have left are a bunch of old childless b***hes who get their asses ate the frick out by the War Boys despite being 'old ancient badass desert survivors who don't need no man". I hate Fury's Road as a film. I ONLY like it because Max is literally the deus ex machina of the entire film. Furiosa continued to draw breath because of his charity. He helps them out, see how fricking moronic they are with their power, and fricks off without a second thought or glance behind him or a goodbye. Just a wandering protagonist who helped a settlement who will inevitably frick themselves and now he's onto the next.

Yes if the billionaire is a hot woman, it would be my femdom kink dream come through. I think the kink itself came from all the forced feminism in society, I am not proud of it btw.

              Anonymous

              >the equivalent
You don’t need to make an equivalent, we saw what position they were in. Adding stuff like “you’re on an island” and “you get to live like the 1%” just softens the deal needlessly. The door to the apartments the women were in was a literal vault door, they didn’t have an island. And they have to frick immortan Joe and have his mutant babies. They were slaves who didn’t even have freedom of movement, like being a sex slave mixed with a prisoner. It was a horrible deal. And I question anyone who takes that deal over even the wasteland.

I remember everyone claiming it was some feminist masterpiece when in reality it was just about how men and women can't fully realize their potential without working together. Furiosa and Max both struggled on their own, only truly realizing their goals when they decided to work together. Not very feminist.

I have never understood the "feminist" criticisms of Mad Max Fury Road. Max is more competent than all the other characters. Is it just the "Who Killed the World" bit? Because it's completely fair for women as a species to be upset about the world being destroyed by weapons they have no capability of understanding and had no hand in making.

Men behave in the way they do because of hundreds of thousands of years of sexual selection by women. Women are arguably more responsible for the temperament of men than men are given how much of our personalities and behaviours are shaped by genetics. Women have also historically shaped culture and policed societal taboos. Behind almost every genocidal dictator or warmongering tyrant you'll find a wife egging him on, or one in his past who spent their entire time together berating him for not being enough of a proactive man of action.

Feminism is a juvenile ideology that attempts - as you do here - to absolve women of all responsibility for their circumstances whether IRL or in any fictional setting, when in reality and in fiction women who end up in situations like this are only getting what they fricking deserve.

        Anonymous

        >The parts of behaviors of men that are commanded by their genetics, are partly the blame on the women who selected the men with those behaviors
While that is an interesting point, if you're gonna talk about hundreds or even thousands of years in the past, I believe human procreation was much more similar to wild animals, with rape being rampant. A violent man raped women and forced them to give birth to violent people.
So I think the culpability of women in shaping those behaviors increases as their freedom to choose a mate also increases, the presence of which increases in recent times (like because of feminist pressure, for example).

Humans are basically great apes like gorillas, chimpanzees and bonobos. It's pretty apparent when you look at the similarities in the social structure. Feminists complaining about men being taller and stronger than women simply can't into biology.

They can't into evolution either. They'll be ham planets who won't put a fricking fork down but will readily declare that they are genetically viable to be mothers and partners. They're fat and have multiple complications from their health problems then turn around and blame men for not wanting to lower their standard.
            >Oh, you don't want a fat lazy piece of shit?! Well, healthy at every size!!!
They create all of these buzzwords which only convinces *themselves* that they're not weak and visually abhorrent and last ditch desperation picks by dudes who only need a warm hole and a body. These women will delight in being used/pumped and dumped by guys who either want to overfeed fat women and get them the frick out of the way so that life insurance and the like can be collected or by long-time jailbirds who can see the beauty in virtually anything soft and woman-shaped.

so? that doesn't invalidate anything else about how competent her character is. by that same logic, you could argue that Max is the most incompetent of the two because he got caught at the beginning or because Furiosa got the final kill on Immortan Joe. those are just singular points, you have to look at the greater picture.

            Anonymous

Not him but I'm gonna go ahead and interject here and say that Max and Furiosa are effectively the same character. The highs and lows or their arc occur at different times, but then converge at the end. Max is at his lowest in the opening, haunted by failure and reduced to the singular instinct of survival. He later overcomes this due to Furiosa's high throughout his time with her, and returns to help her, who learning of the now destitute green place is running from her past due to her own failures, whereupon he brings her back and they both succeed in killing Immortan Joe and commandeering the Citadel. Why anybody would think one is better than the other is beyond me. They are integral to each other's arc. One doesn't function without the other, and this is portrayed in the final fight when Max defends the injured and emotionally distraught Furiosa and creates the opening for the latter to kill Immortan Joe, whom she specifically has a long and emotional history with. Max is emotionally tied to Furiosa, and Furiosa to Joe. Having Max kill Joe would be moronic.

It's feminist if feminism means men and women working together and being equal, not the women better kind. Look at how the Vulvalini clan was depicted. I like his fancy pistol that he keeps in a box and has a picture of his parents (?) in it. All the movies, including Fury Road have neat stuff like it in it.

Fury Road's "feminism" feels very restrained in 2024. Max beats Furiosa in a fight with several disadvantages, all the epic warrior grannies get wiped out really quickly, and you're not really sure things are going to be any better under Furiosa's rule. Had it made a few years later, it would have been unbearable and I have a feeling this movie may be unbearable. I'm not really interested in seeing Hemsworth doing his Thor schtick again.

True, but she immediately decided to respond with military force when many in her cabinet were hesitating. She also pushed heavily for british and american troops to intervene in Iraq at the beginning of the Gulf War. While Bush Sr was hesitating somewhat, Thatcher was hyper aggressive, she even suggested threatening Iraq with chemical weapons.

In general, I think that Margaret Thatcher's foreign policy in general clearly disprove the idea of "women are pacificists", because she definitely wasn't.

Eh, it falls apart after the storm. Bullet Farmer was fun, but overall it just runs out of gas after that first half hour, pun very much intended. You can pretty much shut the movie off after Max gets on the rig, unless you're somehow invested in the plot.

It's probably still my favorite movie of the 2010s, or at least my favorite action movie of that decade (though Dredd is pretty close).
I think some people get bent out of shape about how Max and Furiosa are basically co-leads, which is a valid criticism, especially since Tom Hardy's Max is pretty good. Plus the whole feminism thing but as that one anon said, it comes off very restrained compared to what would come later. I agree it kind of peaks early but I never get really bored any time I watch it - the movie is generally so over the top and fast paced that I never get the time to get bored. I liked Nux too.

Women have no self-awareness and live in a time and society that coddles and protects them to a scale undreamt of in any other time and place. The relationship between men and women is irreversibly broken and the advent of AI is here to put the final nail in the coffin. Birth rates in Western countries are apocalyptic and men absolutely despise women in droves. Even "socially able" men just put up with them for sex but otherwise think nothing of them. Perhaps it's time to roll the curtains on humanity.

Women have no power aside from using their speech and emotional reasoning to try and talk men out of doing something terrible to them. All they have are titles and stupid fricking self-affirming shit. I had the misfortune of catching some clips of Girls Trip and one of the black women, after some bullshit happens on screen, flees into a room and repeats a mantra to herself
      >i am strong. I am beautiful. I am blah blah. I am--
And she just repeats it like 7 times to herself to try and calm herself down and settle her nerves. Women actually do gay fricking homosexual shit like this. Anya Taylor Joy is the anti-Adam Driver. Everything she stars in, it becomes instantly KINO and a success.

Fury Road is praised for being a feminist masterpiece when it's about a bunch of stupid b***hes driving in one direction then straight back with the only accomplishment being killing the villain and only because he was stupid enough to go chasing them when if he had stayed put they would have had to come crawling back and begging for forgiveness while Furiosa would have been killed.

Also, the movie peaks during the storm which was genuinely eye opening as olis showed how damaged the world was, alien and hostile to its inhabitants.

    !!!FACT!!!

They’re chasing the women because he desperately wants the women back. If he had just sat in his fortified position he would’ve been safe, but lost the women to the wasteland or escape. You are a complete moron, and the fact you think your opinion means frick all is laughable considering exactly how dumb you must be to have missed such an obvious point.

This, and they truly don't know how good they had it. If Joe had successfully recovered them, he would be smart to hobble them and maybe lobotomize them too.

I think what happens is they clap and mingle, and stand around clapping as they mingle. So its like that awkward moment where everyone is shuffling out of the theatre or standing at their seat talking, but with clapping. They aren't actually clapping in applause for the movie its just an etiquette meme that somehow found its way into their culture.

Entire premise and everything we know about this film is complete dogshit.
    >Furiosa is raised by lesbians and single-moms in a forest with zero farming. No father figures around to keep everyone safe.
    >Mom is a weak ass b***h who lets her daughter get caught by child sex traffickers
    >Furiosa becomes a child sex slave, but the movie doesn't have the balls to say this. So she's just kept in a cage for no reason whatsoever despite all the limited food and water resources available.
    >Pajeet CGI
    >Furiosa never makes it back to "the green place", and when she does (in Fury Road) we find out that the Lesbian women couldn't even sustain it for twenty years before it all went to shit.
    >Furiosa's Mom NAMES HER FURIOSA, it's not a nickname she got for being a good soldier/truck driver.
    >Furiosa doesn't get grease on her forehead from working on an engine, she actually paints her forehead black.
