mfw people call this the worst superman
>"NOOOO!!11 SUPERMAN CAN'T HAVE A BADASS MACHINE GUN THAT MAKES NO SENSE IRL HE NEEDS TO CRY AND BE DEPRESSED AND MAKE HEAVY-HANDED POLITICAL COMMENTARY ABOUT THINGS THAT HE COULD EASILY SOLVE BUT SOMEHOW DOESN'T AND SUPPORT AND LOVE HIS GAY SON!!! THAT'S WHAT MAKES HIM COOL NOT BEING BADASS AND POWERFUL1!!"
God I miss the 90s. I want to go back.

We all do. But that comic did have heavy-handed political commentary, the villain was literally Hitler. Two of him.
Yeah but it was goofy and fun and didn't feel absolutely repulsive.
Oh you are one of those people
one of the many that came in your mom yes
Oh frick off. Boo-hoo ya boi Adolf gets made fun of. He lost, get over it.
>Pointing out that the villain is Hitler is now a pro-Hitler statement
We do need to go back to the 90s, the 2020s are awful.
I happen to think dual Hitlers is more original than we usually get.
fpbp and /thread
Back then everybody hate nazis. Rush Limbaugh coined the feminazi term back in 1993 by comparing feminists defending the right to abortion to the holocaust and abortion clinics to Auschwitz. Something changed in the 10s
>Something changed in the 10s
occupy wall st scared the shit out the elites so they implemented identity politics into the mainstream media complex to divide people and distract them.
the result is the globohomosexual woke shit we live in today.
It really does feel like everything changed after Occupy Wall Street. Not everything at once, but there was a noticeable shift.
Now the ESG policies are going to cause us to end up like Sri Lanka and it's getting so bad that Biden is being set up as a patsy for it
If you think twin cloned hitlers is anything but a punchline you're the reason shit sucks
The art is really good, I hate it when they use this as an example of bad 90s art.
It is bad on a technical level though, shit anatomy and shit costume design. Superman's beard in particular looks like a solid piece instead of actual hair.
Looks good is a good example of stylized art.
Good stylized art bends the rules, not breaks them. A talented artist can warp the form however much they want but still have a consistent sense of anatomy. Also the shading on that particular piece is atrocious, no sense of an actual light source and shadows all over without rhyme or reason.
Its hard to understand because at that time they were making comics for adolescent boys that also played outside, rode bikes and hung out at the mall, not man-babies who spend their lives online, so for their purposes this was ticking all the right boxes
>people who have standard regarding their art preferences are manchildren!
Christ you're moronic. I don't even like capeshit, let alone Xtreme capeshit but from a purely visual perspective that is some pretty shitty art.
Ok, but I'm explaining to you why its like that, I didn't say you were a manchild
Ah, fair enough.
AKA
>Stop criticizing my childhood!
I think that kind of makes the point of it or maybe they got his work wrongly inked and colored, but it looks good to me
Why are you confused about people holding it as an example of bad art when the most you can defend it is personal enjoyment? Aesthetically it's kinda stupid but I think this guy does the whole thing way better justice.
That's cool, but the original art isn't bad
The original art is pretty bad.
It's okay to like bad things, anon.
Not bad, everyone is overanalyzing because it's the 90s.
It's really just regular analyzing. It's okay to like things without ever thinking about them anon. Consoom, be happy.
My ass. The 90s had plenty of great comics art by great artists. Stop using vague cultural generalizations to deflect criticism.
It's kind of the truth, I don't see anyone picking on modern artists who do a bad job, it's okay to hate the 90's I know, but it's better to pick up on something that's really bad than something different
Were you even alive during the 90s? The problem with Xtreme shit is that while 'new' for the time period it went on to permeate just about everything for the timeframe it was popular. Shit that had no business being Xtreme got a makeover with it. It was the "house style" of the 90s before people came to their senses. Modern house style sucks ass too but that doesn't make the 90s stuff less worthy of criticism. Not to mention a lot of the whole 90s aesthetic was just a bastardization of Kirby's stuff with more pouches and steroids added for good measure. It's the product of a generation that grew up on capeshit exclusively and never bothered to build some fundamentals.
Indie comics also became big at the time and more manga started to be published in the west, not everything was ''XTREME'' and their style was inspired more by Heavy Metal magazine than Kirby
>I don't see anyone picking on modern artists who do a bad job
Don't be a disingenuous homosexual.
His left arm is pretty wonky
That gun had lots of rape
This comic is so simple and junevile that it loops back to being endearing.
I feel like superman throwing the bullets would be more effective.
As much as I hated the comic and think the idea of superman using a gun is bad, its logically consistent IN STORY.
he's slightly depowered in the story, hence he's weak enough that a gun would plausibly hurt more than his physical attacks.
Superman dies from being shot with bullets by Hitler's clones, so that should tell you about what power level he's operating on.
I'm a comic pleb but I'm aware of a lot of strange times in comic history but this is the first time I'm learning about this superman
I find it funny that everyone is overanalyzing this piece, there is nothing fundamentally wrong here and I love the kirby machinery.
>kirby machinery
lmao what about that hunk of garbage is influenced by Kirby?
I found the artist's name, Frank Gomez. the dude is really good.
His stuff looks a bit better here but he just looks like a shittier Sam Kieth to me.
These were his enemies.
He accused them of being the First Cause of violence.
Goddamn is that perspective fricked.
He's not a bad artist
Now this looks MUCH better with a half-decent coloring and inking job. Still not my cup of tea, especially the chicken-headed frickers on the bottom, but there's actually some merit to this.
I noticed now that Incal influenced this story, this is crazy coincidence as an anon posted a storytime earlier today.
>Superman the Hedgehog
I just flipped through this thing and there is barely any consistency to how characters are drawn. It's actually worse than I remembered.
>A BADASS MACHINE GUN
Literal npc train of "thought" on display
Linkara burned this comic. Just letting you know OP
Now I understand why everyone hates it. I also watched the nostalgia critic and AVGN
Nah man, you are just the only diehard fan of this comic around.
I'm not a fan. but I hate that kind of smugness and it's not even aimed at something that's really bad.
Its ok dude. All that matters is that you enjoy this comic even if no one else does.
I know there were some bad comics in the 90's, but there's so much hate towards that time, everyone ignores graphic novels, vertigo, indie, manga and the greater freedom that writers and artists had.
I have never watched a Linkara video in my life and I still think it looks like shit.
I've watched this review, and I still think its a pretty cool comic.
