Batman, Plastic Man, and Superman will follow
If you think 2024 is exciting wait for the 2030s.
>Batman, Plastic Man, and Superman will follow
Plastic Man is already public domain. His 1940s comics never got their copyrights renewed back when they needed to do that.
Only their first appearances will be public domain. Can’t even use any of the later shit without getting sued. Can’t even make anything resembling the later shit without getting sued.
>Oh no we have to make fun superhero comics and not overly edgy trash or gay garbage
Comics are fricking dead, dude. Why would anybody waste their time and money making the damn things.
>oh no I'm losing the argument, must claim comics are dead like my youtube friend simulators
You can’t use anything that wasn’t in their first appearance. All of the most iconic elements of these characters were later additions. Basically, you have to wait longer for the good stuff.

We can thanks to the old promo material. This poster is also from 1928.
>>Can’t have Superman flying
This one is debatable because the Fleischer cartoons are public domain already, you just couldn't use them because Action Comics #1 isn't public domain yet
That one will get lawsuits
The public domain dripfeed still means that crucial elements introduced early on in the history won't take too long after to arrive.
Yeah, Donald Duck is kicking off 2030 public domain entries.
>Donald Duck is kicking off 2030 public domain entries.
I'm hoping that we'll get some quality comics from South America and Europe
Don't know how SA and Europe copyright will be in relation to US (because they have their own rules that slightly very) but they will make great stuff if the ability arises
Even so it'll take a few extra years for Donald's well known design to make it in and at that moment you can only do things with Pete, Mickey and Goofy (and honestly with Snow White getting closer they might get to frick with the time extensions more), some years after you can get Daisy and HDL, further out the Cabs, and a long time out Scrooge and the more specific duck world
So that will take a long while, and potentially never if Disney makes Snow White their final line in terms of a date that cannot go public domain, until you can get any Donald that isn't the dorky Silly Symphony design and with Mickey
What is there even to protect in Snow White? The dwarves having names? I don't think you can trademark emotions.
I wonder if Marvel would be cheeky enough to put the initial versions in their comics.
Disneybros. . . . .. We kneel to OswaldCHADS
Oswald the Lucky gaygit
We should honestly have a sticky for Mickey entering public domain.
Wikipedia is planning to put it on their Main Page for January 1st.
I hate how the public domain is being co-opted by culture war dipshits.
You whiny fricks aren't going to do shit, and even if you did it wouldn't hurt Disney.
Especially now that they’re hurting for cash. Any dumbass who doesn’t know shit about copyright and tries to publish anything that resembles later incarnations of these characters, and Disney will sue them for everything. And they’d win.
Fantastic, look forward to seeing Disney spend hundreds of millions in legal fees to sue internet artists for their life savings of $2.75.
plus a lot of the left are also pro-public domain
The left only sees friend-enemy distinctions, and Disney pedophiles are all obviously their friends.
a lot of leftists hate disney, just look at tumblr and twitter
They are very confused. One one hand
>this company spreads THE MESSAGE
on the other hand
>this is a giant corporation run by evil rich people
They definitely recognize that most of Disney's support of THE MESSAGE is hollow though, just look at all the cynical memes that pop up every time Disney shits out another "First Gay Disney Character" that's just some inconsequential thing designed to be edited out of certain international releases.
>Michael Theodore "Mickey" Mouse
I've seen this a few times now, where did it come from? It from those European Disney comics or something?
Apparently from a french Mickey comic
It did originate in comics, I believe a slew of 30s Disney comics in the US used it and also some Eurocomics did at times as well
It has the same standing as Panchito "Pistoles" where it isn't endorsed by the main studio heads but is low-key official and creators use it if they feel like doing so
The Paul Rudish show should have had an episode where he goes to a hospital, or renews his driver's license, or some other situation that causes everyone else to see his full legal name in print and get weirded out by it.
Is it normal to want to kiss mickey mouse?
Yes, very normal
It would be unusual to not want to
Why is Oswald looking at me like that?
you asshats still haven't done anything with oswald or felix
it's one thing to "stick it to the man" with a cheap temporary victory over "the big evil corporation" but play with the toys you have before buying new ones i want my oswald cartoons
I have gotten a lot of porn made of them
A new Felix comic was already made, you moron. You haven't read it, clearly.
With all the Disney Oswalds being public domain, that gives you pretty much all the freedom to do whatever Oswald stuff you want as long as you use Ortensia's original Sadie name.
His name is trademark so don’t use “Oswald the Lucky Rabbit” and don’t use blue pants and you can do whatever
Why are there like 40 threads about this right now?
Because people overestimate what "Mickey Mouse becoming public domain" really means.
TICK TOCK homosexual RODENT
You’ve got five minutes Mickey
He's all fair game for EST bros
WINNE THE POOH SISTERS OUR RESPONSE!!?!?!!?!
Mickey is banned in china
