I dont read Mile's comics... anymore. I TRIED to like the character, but they literally killed Peter and then put Miles in his shoes as a replacement... but black! He even lived with Aunt May for a while. It was ridiculous. I REALLY liked Ultimate Spiderman and I really disliked that they got rid of Pete, but I gave the new guy a chance. When I realized that they just wanted a black Spidey and had zero plans for him otherwise I started hating him because I lost my good comic for a shit one. After many years, I finally get Ultimate Peter back, and I cant wait.

I don't see why anyone thinks Miles is here to stay. Almost no new replacement ever succeeds in replacing the 60s silver age version of a character no matter how popular they become in the moment. They always fall right back into obscurity and the company brings back the 60s guy, or some fanboy writer lands a gig at Marvel/DC and writes off the new guy and brings back the old guy. Happens every time. Only one I can think of is Scott Lang Ant-Man, and largely because 80s and 90s readers could not really give a shit about such a D-tier character to notice much. Scott Lang is a curious case because the character could have also faded into obscurity but many things worked to his favor. Ant-Man was a not popular so no one really cared about the person under the helmet but it just so happens that the one person that cared was Edgar Wright and he wanted to adapt Scott's story. And while I also love Hank Pym, Marvel fricked up with the whole wife beater thing in shit like Ultimates which hurts Hank's reputation even if it's not the real version of the character. And the MCU saved Scott from perma-death in the comics because Bendis really wanted him to stay dead but was revived thanks to the first movie.
I really dont think Miles is meant to be a replacement in any capacity. He is just an alternate version of the hero and I think is different enough (interesting backstory, different powers) from Peter to warrant having both as spiderman within their own stories.

I've been seeing this shit since 2014. Miles hasn't gotten any less bland, his critics haven't gotten any less screechy, and his shills haven't gotten any more coherent. I'm mostly just tired of ever talking about him. Like, legitimately, the most memorable villain he's ever had exclusive to him and none of the other Spider people was an evil clone clone named Selim. And that's cause Peter Parker sarcastically asked if he was supposed to be "Kilometers Morales". There's just nothing to really talk about with this kid beyond this culture war bullshit, and it sucks because this isn't like Miles himself even sucks hard enough to warrant discussion about it. He's not Ben Reiley, who seems to exist as a punching bag for people who actually thought a less grim Spider-Man would be a cool idea. He's not Cindy Moon, where we can laugh at how Peter is outright programmed to want to frick whenever he's within smelling distance. Miles is just...there. He's not bad enough to even be memorably bad. And it's pathetic that Disney just can't let go of him because not enough black people read cape shit, and they think that this is somehow their ace in the hole for that.
