LOTR has "traditional morality". And the good guys are actually good.

In modern shows, there are the whole 30 layers of irony and a bleak immoral mindset where power is all that matters

        "Traditional morality" is christian morality.

Before israeli nepostism took the entire werstern entertainment, where the "normal morality" is to be edgy and so-called subversive.

Makes sense to me, I don't get why some philosophers and abrahomos insisted on God(s) being omnipotent, it makes more sense and fits right with bleakness, shitiness of the world and the problem of evil.
It's the sacrifices part of the paganism that don't make as much sense, but in a sense even Christianity retained that aspect via prayer, pilgrimages and so on.

Grey morality is Christian morality. Christians hold humans to be sinners who will struggle with sinful urges through life and will know no purity until death. Righteous heroes who are naturally good and never falter are not a Christian construction.

Dumbass, Frodo falters. He is nearly corrupted. No hero is all good. It's the choice to choose good in the face of evil that is Christian morality.

That happens in the bible too. Except instead of Prometheus it's Jesus.
Both stories are about eliminating the need to sacrifice animals to the gods. And a god suffers to make it happen.

The books don't really have as clearcut morality. At the end Merry and Pippin are quite bloodthirsty and Frodo tries to hold them and other hobbits back from outright killing instead of capturing of Saruman's half-orc men. There are moments where orcs are shown to have a human side like the times they express dislike towards Sauron and reminiscing of old times.

Good good, evil evil. Simple as.
We are flooded by series where 'heroes' keep commiting atrocious things or spout immoral horseshit while heroic music plays and it gives even the most passive of consumers a burst of cognitive disonance.

I wouldn't say they're growing up. 99% of them are sheep with groupthink. They see the pendulum swinging back the other way, and the craftiest of them are abandoning ship to return to 'trad' ways in order to snare naive men.
This is why it's okay that so many are becoming barren roasties right now; an entire generation of women is being heavily filtered. Women who choose and want to become mothers, are passing on their genes, while toxic cat woman wine aunties are removing themselves from the gene pool.

women don't like gritty realism in movies. That's why the last 5-10 years there aren't characters that are complex and mix of good or bad

What most of this website doesn’t understand about women is they like comfort and safety, at least healthy women. There are some women who are genuinely deranged and seek abuse out of some perversion to their psyche combined with their boredom. But women naturally like to feel safe, intimate, cared for. So degeneracy like GoT will excite younger adrenaline craving women, but as they get older and the rush of adrenaline is less wanted, they realize how pitiful the moral dimension of soaps are and want something higher and generally good. That is why it is good to date women and not girls in the bodies of women. Maturity does a lot for a persons temperament and one of the things it does best is makes you appreciate the good more wholly and completely instead of digging at it to try to prove the bad because deep down you’re a hurt edgelord.

Women are so fricking stupid even a movie will make them feel on edge or safe. Lotr is pure good. I rewatched them a week ago. Boromir is the closest thing to a complex character and even then you get 9 foreshadows of "this guy will be evil btw". Aragon is also the ultimate Chad. He will always win. He won't betray his waifu elf. He is twilight Edward levels of frickery where he's 80 years old but looks and acts like a 30 year old (wisdom AND youth. God combo for women).

I did find it funny that Gandalf was an abusive ass though. The way he speaks to merry and pippin is surreal. Guy calls them dumb and gets mad as frick at them constantly. But Gandalf is good so it's just daddy energy to girls.

Honestly, two men agreeing to fight to the death, in a legally regulated setting seems like a perfectly valid way to solve a dispute, and would probably solve plenty of problems.
Overly aggressive people select themselves out of the gene pool by opting to duel.
Everyone behaves more respectfully to each other out of the knowledge that they may be challenged to a duel, and look like a coward if they refuse.

What's wrong with this as a thing?

It was outlawed because it ended up with people challenging each other to life or death duels over the pettiest shit.

These people might leave families behind, plus you don't want important people to just up and die. The people duelling would likely be important nobles or military officers.

If you're such a blundering idiot that you would enter into a duel, the world is probably better off that you die in that duel. It's a great system for regulating society in that way.

it was probably not uncommon for skilled duellists to try and bait others into duels deliberately. like you're talking to some dude who is just waiting for you to say the smallest thing he can spin into a reason for a duel.

                Anonymous

Yeah, and also because as governments and militaries became more sophisticated and advanced, it became more expensive to train officers. And most officers were nobles, and most duelists nobles, so yeah it had to go when you have people who you've put all this money, resources and training into killing or maiming each other over stupid shit.

It's a combination of mentally ill people who can't concieve of not wanting to frick everything that moves since their lives revolve utterly around sex and sexuality and immediate physical pleasure, and those in power who want to destroy friendship and community so everyone is loyal only to them and will obey unthinkingly and without any thought of what anyone else might want.
But mainly it's because friendless sex addicts can't comprehend friendship and assume everyone else, like them, is secretly sociopathic and only does anything to gain pleasure for themselves. Thus friendship and caring for others simply for the sake if caring for others is totally alien, and the only way they can understand it is to assume lust is involved because sexual desire is the only "illogical" motivation sociopaths understand.

In a way, it is the opposite of Evangelion.

Evangelion had Christian imagery because the creator randomly looked at Bible pages and took terms he thought looked cool (because Christianity was exotic to him). But it didn't have a Christian meaning.

Lord of the Rings doesn't have Christian imagery, in some ways it is even more Nordic. But has Christian themes.

Lewis was a good goy cuck who begrudgingly accepted religion only due to Tolkien's extensive efforts to show him atheism is gay.

I swear, people cope about Tolkien being 1000% Catholic definitely-no-nonchristian-influences-to-see-here the same way they cope that Hitler's Germany was """Christian"""

What do you mean? The both of them were clearly pretty heavily into religion, even for the time. Especially Lewis who went nuts later in his life, and wrote whole books about Christianity.
              >definitely-no-nonchristian-influences-to-see-here
Well, no. Tolkien was influenced by old Norse and Anglo Saxon mythology too. In a way, Middle Earth feels like it's an exercise in making all of that stuff fit inside of a Christian worldview.

No, Lewis was an edgy atheist back when most people didn't know what an atheist was. Years of discourse with Tolkien was what eventually led him to accept god.
Having read most of their works, Tolkien is a knower/believer who filters things through a Catholic and historical lens (of his own making, which makes it more thorough than most). Lewis was handed a finished essay, digested it, and regurgitated his own understanding based on someone else's research. I'm not saying Lewis' works are valueless, everything should be studied for thorough understanding, but it's like reading a children's bible when you could just pick up the less adulterated, real thing.

Kind of, he was not a KKK type or anything, but in some of his letters you can see him disliking globalism, for example how he doesn't like Africans and others using and abusing English language or something like that.

Tolkien had a pretty neutral view if dwarves are a stand in for israelites
      >The most that can be said for the dwarves is this: they intended to pay Bilbo
really handsomely for his services; they had brought him to do a nasty job for
them, and they did not mind the poor little fellow doing it if he would; but they
would all have done their best to get him out of trouble, if he got into it, as they
did in the case of the trolls at the beginning of their adventures before they had
any particular reasons for being grateful to him. There it is: dwarves are not
heroes, but calculating folk with a great idea of the value of money; some are
tricky and treacherous and pretty bad lots; some are not, but are decent enough
people like Thorin and Company, if you don’t expect too much.

The greatest mistake man ever made was listening to women. It was true in the garden of Eden and it was true during the first wave of feminism. When will we learn to stop listening to women?

Leave room for nature, and problems will solve themselves in time.
