This show aged horribly. 2010s cringe humor is so outdated now. That's one of the reasons why I can't stand Sam hyde anymore. That style of humor died. It's the 2020s now move the frick on and do something new.

Sam Hyde's humour is bad because he wants to see the world burn and he wants people to be miserable, he's comedy for angry people
The show has aged pretty badly but the stuff he does on public is still alright. Season 1 feels completely different and actually still holds up because they do try to make jokes

I have never met anyone who likes this show irl, it's always either "never watched it" or Tim and Eric levels of "holy frick I hate this guy." I don't even think it appeals to black people but I could reasonably imagine it appealing to a mulattoe crowd who is very similar to Andre himself which I can respect. The highest form of comedy is making comedy for yourself and if other people laugh along, great.

You misunderstood what I'm saying. I don't like Andre's work because it doesn't appeal to me in any way. I can see what he's doing though, in essence he's just making comedy for himself and doesn't care who likes it, and probably the only people who DO like it are people who are extremely similar to him anyway. The second part doesn't really matter, it's just probably the only type of fan he meets could be a cousin. It's the "frick it, gonna do what I enjoy genuinely" that is respectable. He could just be another Jimmy Kimmel or John Oliver, at least Andre is weird.
I don't think Andre's comedy is so far out there that you have to put it in the "does what he likes and doesnt care" camp. It's got mass appeal and tons of people like him

The genre/format. Letterman used talk shows as a foundation, and his style of talk show became the new foundation to subvert.

I mean the talk show part of the show is typically 20%-30% of the show. It's really a sketch show but it's avertised/pitched as whacky talk show cause it's a better hook than "Tom Green Show clone" Norm would be right it was all talk show and we saw that with the Christmas episode which is the worst episode and they haven't attempted anything like it again
