Yeah, I sometimes forget how a good deal of the fandom watch the show for Marinette alone. Wouldn't be the first time a character was disliked just for being competition. I always liked Kagami's straight forward attitude. She was a girl who knew what she wanted and headed right for it and wouldn't beat around the bush with people. In a show like this, she was a great change of pace.

It's weird because in recent years especially with season 4 marinette has a shit ton of detractors. It was bound to happen eventually since in order for her to be vulnerable she needs to make mistakes but they can't make her completely sympathetic. Even now a lot of people shit on her some of it deserved some of it not. At least it's guaranteed Adrien and Kagami get a lot of screen time this season, should be nice.

yea that was my point. The way it's structured she has to be in complete control but also be sympathetic to the audience which is impossible to do because everything hinges on her when the plot is so focused on another character (Adrien) and he has more stake in it than she does. It's a terrible philosophy to stand by we all sorta knew but it really sucks to see that's what these writers really wanna convey.
A better written show where Adrien befriends Lila, because Ladybug was a huge dick to her, he thinks he relates to her as he sees her as being too awkward to make friends without lying, and both he and Kagami try to quell her undesirable personality a bit.

I always wonder where you people go to school, because where I went to school it was more similar to what OP described. Everyone was in established friend groups and they passed around boyfriends/girlfriends/friendships through those friend groups. If you weren't part of their specific friend group they treated you like shit and there was no entering these groups as an outsider. These friend groups were like 15 - 20+ people large male and female and consisting of smaller friend groups. So three people hang out on the regular, but they're also part of group A. Therefore they can hang out one day with anyone in group A, or swap around the members of their group of three of anyone who is in group A. If you're not in group A you cannot be talked to or hung out with, you are simply mocked. So for example OP was not in group A, but crushed on someone in group A type of situation. OP had no friends, or was in group B, C, or D. I don't see it as girl acting the way Lila does is instant boner for a guy in rl, because of this whole group situation that was going on when I went to school. They'd laugh at her and mock her if she wasn't in their group.
Considering OP is actually a girl and not a troony, Id find incredibly hard to believe a girl at that age would be unpopular to the point of not having friends. Youd have to be really fugly to not attract at least one simp or beta orbiter to hang around with you.

I do find there are girl loners. There are a few complete loners in all schools. Loners are rare in general there's maybe 1 to 3 per school. They're unpopular by virtue of being alone, it's lets target the angry/sad kid with no friends mentality that for some reason all kids have. The reason they're loners is usually they changed into the school so they didn't grow up with the kids, a personal health situation that leaves them out of school a lot, training for the Olympics, actor kid, huge autists nobody wants to be around (your fat weird kit example), or unfortunate life situation. With particularly cute girls though sometimes they get dog pilled on so badly by a group of mean chicks the entire school treats them like complete shit. Boys are really socially dumb, so if alpha stacy tells a boy a chick is weird and does nothing but b***h about her he believes it. I have seen that happen.
Uh, times must have changed then. In my school days whenever a new girl got into class she always got quickly absorbed into a group of friends by making no effort at all, no matter how awkward or socially innept they were. On hidside, there were many loner guys around school which noone gave a single shit about.
