There are two Missing 411 stories I think are actually disturbing/unexplainable

    1. The kid in colorado whose clothes kept showing up nicely folded by the trail he disappeared on
    2. The guy in michigan who vanished while skiing and showed back up over a year later with no memory of what happened

First one is a prank in very poor taste, the second one is just banter.

The guy had a doctorate and after the incident he got another phd trying to figure out what happened to him so I doubt the guy was that unstable to feign amnesia

          >Was probably in debt or in trouble with the law or was cheating on his girlfriend and feigned amnesia
Any actual proof of that? Every time I've heard that story he is framed as being in a pretty good place in life, with a good amount to look forward to. Nothing, at least known, that would make him want to disappear. Could be that and could also be a legitimate fugue state. The lack of evidence either way is what makes people interested in cases like these.

          >you need to be unstable to feign amnesia or suffer a mental breakdown which can cause it
          >Do you have any evidence?
No, but its more plausible the guy feigned amnesia for a year for his own personal reasons than some mystery of the woods.
Even then, I could buy he just had a mental breakdown which can happen at any point in your life.
How this is a mysterious case full of unknowns is beyond me. It's irrational behaviour, but not unexplainable, and flimsy at best in trying to say there's some grand conspiracy in the woods.

I think one or two are responsbile by people living off grid somewhere in one of those fringe societies. Maybe they went into hiding during one of the wars America was going through and just decided to stay there but they got so inbred like the Whitaker family that they need to steal fresh ones every now and then so their bloodline can get better genetics and make their line stronger. I think the rest are just people being dumb and underestimating just how dangerous nature and the woods can be it can easily go very wrong if you don't know what you're doing and watching yourself. Though I find it interesting in both cities and nationaly park dissapearances just how much water plays a huge role in some cases and a lot of the individuals who go missing are white and somewhat atheltic, I think some overlap between the two but I don't think Smiley Faced Killers are connected with Missing 411 cases.

Dennis Martin is legit one of the creepiest ones especially when reading about witnesses seeing a large build figure carrying something off into the woods.

The """large figure""" was described as a moonshiner or mountain man and he got in a car and drove off. The huckster who wrote these books loves to omit that detail.

People don't just vanish. Corpses don't disappear. Clothing doesn't just degrade to nothing, epecially not in an area as populated as the US. Even in Australia we find the remains. We find bones. We find bags. We find something. If we don't it's extremely bizarre.

I asked the question. Are you suggesting a bear will consume a bag with 30lb of gear in it? Just consume the entire thing and leave no trace?

      Anonymous

moron, what usually happens is you die or get killed, then your corpse is ripped to pieces and those pieces are dragged off. You bag will be left where you die, but your arm might end up 5 miles in one direction, your skull 10 miles in another and your leg 7 miles in yet another direction.

You think wild animals have fricking table manners? They kill you then pull out a knife and fork and neatly cut you up and eat you? Frick no. They'll rip pieces off of you and depending on the animal they'll take it somewhere safer to eat it.

Yes that is what I'm saying and eventually your bag and your belongings will be found by other hikers and be reported and the police who were investigating your case will know every detail of what you wore and what you carried and will be able to match descriptions to you this is how it works in the real world I know shocking right, therefore. People do not just vanish. Something is eventually found.

Depends where you die. If you're 20 miles from anywhere and surrounded by thick brush, there is a fairly good chance you wont be found anytime soon, if at all. You underestimate how difficult it is to find a corpse, especially in the middle of fricking nowhere.

I believe that in Australia but in the US you have 1000x more people out there. Not just more people in general you have a genuine culture of hiking and hunting. You have hunters crawling everywhere aren't there so many hunters out in the US that they're told to wear bright colours as not to shoot each other and they still misidentify and shoot each other?

There are literally cases where a murderer would just drive like 100 miles down some highway then dump a corpse like 20ft from the road and it remains unfound for like 30 years.

People vanish in the US all the time but it's because your bones can lie in the woods for decades until they are buried or consumed somehow or a serial killer gobbled you up, it is not because of aliens or some unknown predator, if you are attacked in the woods it will be from a bear or a mountain lion and they will not find much of you or anything really.

No, I almost got footage of bigfoot but he unfortunately stepped into one of his transdimensional portals just as I was about to hit record. I was so upset that I even forgot to whistle and say "I am allowed to pass here" on the way back to my car.

It's aliens you guys, how can someone just going missing? People were out looking for the missing person for weeks.
Corpse found years later, at a spot that trackers went through multiple times, but because the missing person was already dead, and covered and underbrush, they didn't see the body.
There is no grand conspiracy, people do very stupid things out in the woods, or the desert, or whatever, and die.

I think it's less glowies and more teenage redditors who think they sound smart.

Sorry guys, the bigfoot scam just wasn't working like it used to so I switched over to the more lucrative UFO scam.

I watched one of these for a few minutes and it was some 75 year old man claiming to have footage of a predator alien on his cellphone. So they went to his house and he's all like yeah its on my phone and he pulls out this old ass flip phone and plugs it into his computer. They're like where's the picture and he says oh well for some reason it can't download and then they just left.

90% of these "mysterious" cases are meth-related

Then you'd find the body. Methhead don't just vaporize on death.

They crystalize into meth, which other methheads find and smoke. That's their lifecycle

If you die in the woods even just a little off trail you might not ever be found. So if some methhead walked off trail and got lost and then came to even just .5 miles away, he could die out there and NEVER be found.

For me it's the part where it goes from serious documentary exploring what happened to all these missing people to bigfoot hunting movie and the director is like
    >DUDE WE JUST FILMED THIS BECAUSE UHHH THEY HAD AUDIO CLIPS OF NOISES AND TREE SOUNDS IM DEFINITELY NOT TRYING TO SAY ITS BIGFOOT CAUSING THE MISSING PEOPLE....OKAY ITS DEFINITELY INTERDIMENSIONAL BIGFOOT!!
