Every generation post industrial revolution who says "it used to be better" is actually right. The decline is real and it is happening for decades now in an arithmetic progression. Every generation the current declined state becomes the "new normal" then it declines further and becomes "new normal" again for the next generation. But zooming out they all are correct when they say it was better in their time.

I don’t dislike it all, though.
What I can tell you, however, since I have the misfortune to work a job where I sometimes have to endure a pop station, is that the last five years have produced absolutely frick all with any longevity that wasn’t made by someone with their foot in the door.
The sixties are aging out of the stations, but from the seventies to late twenty tens there was generally a few hits per year that had real staying power, but that’s just gone by the wayside now.

Both are bad but for different reasons. The former is boardroom-mandated diversity slop made by your run of the mill Western Chinese woman who is literally creatively bankrupt (the only other production she wrote and directed ALSO dealt with Chinese-Canadian characters). Late AVGN is bad because he's a man coasting off the one thing that made him funny and popular in the first place without any passion left.

Diversity quotas should never be a thing regardless. If your story isn't good enough to be told without the interference of some board committee that mandates an XYZ percentage of blacks/browns/yellows in a film (or in this case, shoeing in an Asian woman director based on the sole fact she's an Asian woman), then it should never be made. It's a principle that's pretty easy to understand.

Yeah but think about it man, at least back then in the early 2000s a lot of it was mostly just googling “big boob” “big titty” “girl butts” type shit and maybe you had some fringe fetish stuff here and there if you happened to venture onto stileproject but it wasn’t the MAIN thing. Now you have ‘YouTube kids’ promoting full on vore and inflation fetish fart porn to toddlers lmao

I think that's more of the youth being hyper-perverted and having access to an endless fetish content stream at age 10.

To add, very popular adult sex streamers who stream on Twitch to children (and then link their Onlyfans and other adult content in plain view for said children) are another main culprit these days. I believe we're in the middle of the biggest female pedophile epidemic in history, thanks to streaming platforms like Twitch.

This movie's art style, while ugly, isn't the issue.

          >This movie's art style, while ugly, isn't the issue.
Again, I don't know how to fully explain it, but there's something about the art style itself that feels inherently pedophilic. I think it's the giant mouths. I've always noticed a correlation between pedophiles/homos and really big mouths. Idk. Also, I was just thinking the same thing the other day about the female pedophilia thing, it's definitely everywhere and obvious now. It's very telling how desperately women try to portray normal men being attracted to women in their early 20s as pedophiles now while simultaneously encouraging women who promote porn to children.

Modern Pixar is their OWN FAULT.
    Allow me to explain:
The message of the original Toy Story film, which was watched by basically every kid of that age, had the message of "Play nice with your toys."
Except, that's the EXACT opposite advice for encouraging creativity.
Which was CONFIRMED by the animators and Jon Lasseter, who said things like "We all agreed that Sid would grow up to be an animator."
So WHY would filmmakers make a film with a message that was in direct opposition to what made them successful?
    Who knows??
But, the RESULT is that an entire generation of kids who watched that film grew up to be LESS creative than they otherwise would've been.
And now Pixar is creatively bankrupt because they can't find creative artists and writers.

      >Lasseter adds, “We all agreed that Sid was the kind of kid who would grow up to be an animator.”
And then the uncreative c**ts at Pixar turned Sid into a garbage collector, instead of showing him becoming a successful animator or other type of creative, because the first movie made sure to stamp out all of his creativity.

          it's not mainline paw patrol
its the gay rubble spin off series with rubble and his sibblings who build shit for people. The episode just leaves it ambiguous and never says "he/her". I don't even think they refer to the character (who skates and is a homosexual who takes pics of stuff) as "they". They refer to the character by it's name. I think the gay writers wanted to have the character as trans but maybe got stonewalled or told they can just make it ambiguous without any trans buzzwords. The episode is weird.
It is episode 16 (first half Rubble and crew build an observatory). The character wants "that pic" so they build him an observatory. Anywho, pic rel is the character in question and is androgenous. I think the character is just an Asian boy as asians have that asexual dimorphism and so boys will be hard to distinguish from girls.

          t. married with kids and screen the paw patrol episodes my son watches. Don't let him watch rubble and crew.

They are wonderfully cohesive, entertaining little stories and when you grow up you actually catch all of the adult humor that was snuck in there as well. This is how you know it was a peak. They were balancing entertainment for all ages which is a feat.

some people collect toys, some collect coins, some collect beer cans, some collect guitars or other instruments. If you're into a thing, and said thing brings you joy (especially if it increases in monetary value over time), there's nothing inherently childish about collecting stuff. I will say though, it IS childish to blow all your money on collectables and other stuff you don't need when you're already poor. Poor money management IS childish. If we're talking about adults spending their money on dumb shit, let's talk about adults who spend all their money on tattoos and concert tickets. You can't re-sell your tattoos or your memories of the concert you went to. At least the people who collect physical items like Funko pops can sell their collection for a few bucks if they fall on hard times.

it doesn't make sense from a narrative standpoint for the actual thief to be in my movie.

Hilariously perfect example of poisoning the well. Things on the right side of the image DID happen in the film, but by listing them alongside more outrageous claims, you can obfuscate the subversive nature of this movie.

This film literally had an entire montage of the girls in the film selling "panda pics" to boys, in order to fund their own trip to a boyband concert.
This was hidden from the teachers and parents.
There was a LINE of people trying to buy "panda pics".

And people wonder why OnlyFans models are so prevalent and accepted today.

Nope, you're an NPC who isn't intelligent enough to think about anything.
          Just consume!

FTR, I grew up in the 1980s.
There was ZERO pre-teen or teen media content about selling naked pictures to other people the same age on any TV shows from the 1980s - 1990s. And if there was (which I can't think of any examples), it was probably criticized and by the end of the episode, the teenager learned the lesson that they SHOULD NOT be selling their body in exchange for money.
So do us all a favor, and shut the frick up.

                Aladdin isn't a prince.

                >Most Disney characters face punishment or difficulties for disobedience
Considering they usually get what they wanted in the end it's hardly punishment.

The movie deals with overprotective parents, like many Disney movies before. How is the message different from let's say Finding Nemo?

                >Considering they usually get what they wanted in the end it's hardly punishment.
Because they're still family movies at the end of the day. They succeed DESPITE their disobedience, for the sake of a happy ending, but it still remains a cautionary tale. In Turning Red, she succeeds purely BECAUSE of her disobedience.

                >How is the message different from let's say Finding Nemo
If Finding Nemo was made Turning Red style, then Nemo would never be lost, and Marlin would realize that he was being overbearing and there's actually no reason to fear sharks, jellyfish, or humans that abduct your child. Marlin and Nemo compromise at the end of the film, but Turning Red shows the mother to be wholly in the wrong for not wanting her daughter to present her butthole and shake it around.

It's not about flaunting her ass. It's about giving her some freedom. It's right there in the movie.

                >Mei: I'm changing, Mom. I'm finally figuring out who I am.
                >I'm scared it'll take me away from you.
                >Me too.

                Another one:

                >O-M-G! That looks so cute!
                >Our temple is the oldest in Toronto.
                >And the only one that's home to the great red panda.
For those who claim the movie is anti-traditional.

And your favorite one, but in context:
                >Hold on. You're not going out like that, are you?
                >(SCOFFS) My panda, my choice, Mom.

                >For those who claim the movie is anti-traditional
It is. An Asian girl twerking and having it be seen as a righteous subversion of oppressive, patriarchal cultures is the opposite of "traditional"

Nice job projecting your fetish. Also nobody on Cinemaphile gives a shit about Turning Red pedophilia. That’s a boomer / soccer mom talking point if anything

NTA but I'm a "chud" poster according to the defenders of this movie and I don't go to /misc/, it's too schizo and chaotic. You're mindbroken because you're using that board as a scapegoat

Why are you talking about a board on Cinemaphile like it's the boogeyman? It's just a board for people to b***h and moan about israelites and browns, it's no different than half of the other boards on this site.

Hyper stylised to the point of being an unreal glimpse of the past. I lived in the 00s and I have no idea what the frick this film thinks it's referencing because it's not the past I grew up in as a kid.

But young people hate this slop. It is why they watch Anime instead of this.

This. Leftist cat moms, trans people and insufferable Western Asian women watch it not children
